Honestly I was part of that lgbtq community a few years ago, I am bisexual and I thought it’s nice to have a community with people that are as well. But after some time I genuinely distanced myself from everything lgbtq because it became too toxic, disrespectful and political. At this point I tend to call them gender nazis. They want everyone to support and glorify them and who doesn’t, is being cancelled.
I don’t freaking care if someone is straight or whatever. Just you do you. That’s all. Don’t over share your sexuality or preferences/ fetishes. some things should remain private, and that’s one of them.

100% agree with you. At first, I didn't get the hype of metal music till I actually started listening to it. The lyrics are sometimes hard to hear or understand over the harsh vocals but once you find out what they are, it's a game-changer.
I agree my taste varies day to day but it's like the only one I can go back to and be refreshed it hasn't changed much like sabaton.
If you cant understand the lyrics, pull them up and follow along. Guaranteed to be able to hear the words after one listen and read. A lot of metal songs have great meaning.

I remember when Unholy came out a little while ago and people were making a huge deal out of it. I had heard a couple clips and hated the song because of the lyrics and the explicit meaning behind them. One day, the music video popped up in my RUclips recommended for some reason, and I decided to watch it and see if it was actually as bad as I thought. No joke, I made it through the first 30 seconds before I shut it off because the song was so bad and the video was so disgusting. I do not understand how videos like that are not given some sort of age restriction. Children should never have the ability to watch explicit crap like that.
Well if it makes you feel better, when I was in school, all music videos were blocked on the computers. Up to parents to watch out for that at home.

I experienced the horror of realising that the same man who wrote Fire on Fire and Too Good at Goodbyes was also the writer of Unholy and this mess. This happened the other weekend when an old performance of his was on TV show my parents were watching (Heartbreakers at the BBC, brilliant show I recommend it) and I said he looked like the singer of Unholy. My parents informed me it WAS the same person, he had just gained weight and had a rather dramatic (and as my Dad described it: whorish) change including changing his pronouns and all the fanfare that generally comes with it. And whilst I could maybe get behind his lyrics for Unholy (I'm guessing the message is about how cheating is wrong and cheaters do get caught) the video made me feel sick and this one isn't any better and the lyrics are WORSE! Any nostalgia I tried to feel during Unholy to be happy for Sam Smith went flying out the window when I finally saw the music video and is now 6ft under due to this one.

I think, in a lot of these people's minds, they believe there shouldn't be a difference between public and private. That every personal, intimate, private part of themselves and their desire and feelings should be 100% exposed for all the world to see, and any level of class, manners, self control is just repression of one's self and should be eradicated. They dont see value anymore in "tact", such a thing is bad in their eyes now (unless you disagree with their actions, then keep it to yourself).
I know this is a little controversial, but this is why I've started to listen to Kpop over the years. There's so much less political messaging, and some really great groups with talent that are telling stories with their music. Something that always confuses me is when people act like they perfectly remember exactly how they felt and what they thought about a music video/television show/movie/etc. when they were a child and/or that those experiences apply to all other children. When I was a kid, I never really watched music videos outside of the ones that appeared on Disney Channel or Nicelodeon, and I don't remember being that interested in mainstream pop songs. I liked watching cartoons and playing outside and reading books - those were my and many of my friends' main hobbies. But I don't speak for all kids like the people making those articles seem to.
I don't know many of Brittaney Spears' music videos or her music in general, but I doubt the writer of the article knew exactly what was going on/being implied or said in the MV as a 12-year-old. If they did, then all my sympathy to them because that means they were exposed to all that sexualized content at an age where they shouldn't have been.

Last year, a 1985 song called "Running Up that Hill" by Kate Bush became one of the top songs on the MODERN day mainstream music charts of summer of 2022.... which is extremely weird beyond belief because it's unheard of for old songs to reach the top of the MODERN day mainstream music charts during the summer (While old songs become popular again and "Running Up that Hill" became popular again because of Stranger Things season 4, they didn't shoot up the top of the MODERN mainstream music charts and overtake all modern mainstream songs.. That would be like if the 1960's song "Leader of the Pack" beat out the Backstreet Boys and Eminem and Limp Bizkit and Korn during the year 1999 on the MODERN day mainstream music charts and on MTV's TRL during 1999. That type of thing didn't happen... especially during the summer. The fact that "Running Up that Hill" broke this during 2022 is crazy).
Anyway,
Since the type of modern music I listen to is obscure modern day indie music (EXAMPLES: Gunship "Fly For Your Life", The Marias "Hold it Together", Carpenter Brut "Anarchy Road", Nina "Sleepwalking", M83 "Do it, Try it", Master Peace "PNE", etc) and I haven't been paying attention to mainstream top 100 modern music in years, I decided to see what the 1985 song "Running Up that Hill" was up against and.... well.... after seeing how HORRIBLE the modern mainstream stuff is, I now perfectly understand how a song from 1985 (which wasn't even a huge mega hit compared to other 1980's songs of the time) can overpower and dominate the MODERN day mainstream music charts. Considering how horrible this Sam Smith song is, if this is the best modern day mainstream music has, I expect older classic music to start dominating the MODERN day mainstream music charts for summer of 2023.

This video reminds me of why I enjoy genres like K-pop, and the various singer-songwriter/indie sub genres (among others of course). There’s creative freedom there, but it tells a story. It’s not trying to give me the equivalent of a bad trip or sugar-induced fever dreams
