  • When Penguin put out a call for working-class writers to pitch ideas for Bog People, a folk horror anthology, my first reaction was: 'How patronising.' Was it a genuine attempt to showcase marginalised talent, or a clumsy addition to what some see as the diversity and inclusion racket?

Brilliant. “A dreary kind of agitprop” sums the whole thing up perfectly.

I don't identify as belonging to any class as my experiences mean i don't fit criteria. I LOVE what you say. Sounds like we are from the same neck of the "woods" and I identify with everything you have said. Thank You for Being.

Ooh, I'd have been eligible for that. Of course, I don't write horror but I did write a short play once about the (true) time that Mam voted Conservative and nearly gave Dad a heart attack. I'm sure that they would find that a horror story 🤣

Really great video. Unfortunately identity politics will just ramp up further with the incoming labour government.

"All applicants must identify as working class or from a working class background." 🤣🤣 ie Applicants can pretend to be w/c or actually be w/c.

This is still mind bogglingly stupid to me, and you eviscerate it beautifully
