Adapting Japanese series Gridman. Comes DIC's better produced American toku series. Focusing on better character progression. Compared to the weaker Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters. Starring Matt Lawrence. Diving into the digital world, as Servo. Trying to stop Kilokhan from taking over. How well does DIC work with Japanese material. Does the series still hold up today. "Let's Samuraize Guys!"

This show was awesome. Matt Lawrence was amazing as Servo. And it has a very iconic song.
I recently pre-ordered Gridman.
I was bummed that Matthew Lawrence didn't voice Gridman in the English dub of the anime series.
heres some other trivia the episode Kilokhan Comes To Town was originally meant to be the grand finale before they found out they werent getting canclled they would have gone through with the events not undo and replicate the Gridman finale where the main character dies, and one of the villains makes a Heel-Face Turn to set up becoming the new hero of the show. also When a second season wasn't possible, the writers were called in to discuss a sequel series that would have possibly adapted a different show. A premise was written and pitched, which was to have the Syber-Squad become either security analysts or a virus protection squad. But nothing came of it.
I just figured out what the ssss. means in the grid man show of the same name. Superhuman samurai syber squad grid man.
I remember this show because of Matt Lawrence. Never underestimate a girl’s crush.
I definitely remembered seeing the opening of S.S.S.S. in a promotional video, and that opening is certainly unique! I probably only saw a handful of handful of episodes since I was only 4 when the show first aired, so, I don't remember a whole lot. Regardless, I think they did a commendable job of adapting footage from the original Gridman show, and turn it something really enjoyable! It's even more awesome that the Gridman anime sequel borrowed elements from Samurai such as S.S.S.S. which is really cool! Another amazing review! I think for a future FTV review you should check out Sleepy Hollow (2013) which aired on FOX since it was doing really well, but was unfortunately cancelled.
I recall the cast, they were interesting and distinct
i love this superhuman samurai syber squad
If you can, I would love to see a review of the VR Troopers
I don't review Toei owned shows. They abuse fairuse.
@@rangerreview1780 oh that’s right, sorry about that
I still have these toys.
Fun fact: the four S in the name of: SSSS. Gridman stands for Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad!
EDIT: I'm first lol
Which was later reused in SSSS.DYNAZENON
You should try Review Mystic Knight of Tir Na Nog show
Matthew wasn't on Blossom. That was his older brother Joey
Prior to this, I think he was in "Tales from the Darkside: The Movie".
@@animefan25 he also starred in a widely forgotten show called Wake Rattle and Roll.
I had a crush on Sydney...
Just looking at the gridman suit makes me say”an ultraman on steroids” or “A Kamen rider mixed with an ultraman “.
He does look like ultraman colors and all
@@jaredanacleto9239 Gridman was made by the creators of Ultraman.
I loved ssss, especially the city they fought in
I tried googling this show without remembering the name or anyone in it.could not find it at all. Thanks so much!
My favourite episode was where Sydneys watch gets infected and her hand gets possessed, the hand even created a misunderstanding between Malcolm and his girlfriend
When watching the SSSS.Gridman anime, I was confused why the mecha looked so familiar, then I dug up my original Samurai Syber Squad toys from the 90s!
The Guyver live action movies would be fun to look at. The 2 anime runs are superior in my opinion, but the the first live action movie was the first time I'd ever heard of the franchise. I grew up with kid friendly show like Power Rangers, and seeing a gritty version of that concept with blood and dismembering and an organic suit that violently attaches to its chosen host rocked my world!
Good review !
I did hear that doing the show for amp was kinda like beneath him so that’s why he left the show at least that’s what I read at one time
You should review the Ratchet and Clank 2016 movie since I don't hear a lot of people talk about it and to commemorate the new Ratchet and Clank game
Could you cover the train rack that was the “Transformers unicron trilogy”?
That would be a regular review of a show. I don't know if I really want to review that nonsense, lol.
How about reviewing Hammerman by DiC and Bob in the Genie by Saban?
I think another benefit to SSSS is that the original footage and Gridman footage both matched in quality, as I think Gridman was shot on tape or a similar format to what DiC was using, making it look more like both shows were one and the same, rather than Power Rangers, where the footage quality looked radically different between USA and JP
It's too bad the show didn't last that long; I heard that a season 2 was intended, with a Sixth Ranger-style Blue Servo planned, but I read that this was abandoned due to all of the companies abandoning the show, either because of exponential costs or because they felt the series ran its course and wasn't of interest to them anymore...
How about some other DiC productions? Maybe those fairytale cartoons Saban did too? I think they were like Grimm's Fairytales or something?
SSSS.DYNAZENON is on its near endgame, and great timing on bringing this up, Archer.
Yeah. I do try to planned these reviews to line up with things.
I’m a big fan of love to interview you for my podcast sometime 🙏🏾
This was very popular in India 🇮🇳 during the 90s before the cable TV revolution
Maybe you could do an episode of forgotten TV on the American Ultraman series. I believe it was called Ultraman powered.
There were two.
Ultraman Towards the Future (Great)
Ultraman (Powered) the Ultimate Hero
2 questions for your Power Ranger videos. * I was originally going to have many more but I don't fill up that many questions )
- do you count Shadow ranger / dekamaster as a black Ranger
- what do you think of the time force and Wild Force theme song
Sorry I was late into asking these questions before the Copa situation.
Yeah. If you have to set it to a color. Like both TF and WF songs. It's the few things I liked from WF.
You should take a look at Jackie Chan adventures
I want to that one. But getting all the episodes is a pain.
Interesting to a man that predates Sesame Street.....
I have no interest in samurai squad but I'm getting the gridman blu ray in August.
Review Darna and Zaido Pulis Pangkalawakan.
Review Black Scorpion the series.
