Hi dude, iam Paul Glover an endorsed Laney artist and I've used these amps for 10 years now. One of the most versatile and underrated amps ever. These things are a weapon!!!!! Dig the channel mate.
@fastandfunky thanks dude, that's awesome, it's easy when you love something. I've always found the IRT to be super easy to dial in a great tone and more than versatile enough to get ne from Jazz to Djent plus they look like Darth Vaders toaster.......what's not to love. Lol 🤘🧟🤘
@@PaulGlover lmao. They look like Darth Vader's toaster. That made me laugh. I have a 60W IRT head with the 4x12 cab. Sounds great and like you said, super versatile.
I have the same amp. Cranking that Tone knob up to 3-4 o clock is absolutely where its at. Opens the amp right up. Our settings are almost exactly the same, only less gain and an OD pedal instead of the on board boost for me.
Watching your videos is a pure pleasure thanks to those tasty, crunchy riffs and awesome production! Seems like you really put your heart into these reviewes, keep it going, cheers!
Laney is in my opinion to underrated. They make such great amps and pedals. I adore the discontinued Ironheart IRT-Pulse guitar Tube Preamp pedal. This tube preamp has so much in it, which is later used in the Ironheart amps.
Thanks for this amazing video Jon, It's a super great amp and really there's so little information and videos using all the versality of this amp. Thanks once again!
Recently picked up the 120 watt version at a pawnshop. It is such a versatile amplifier. I rarely use the pre boost and prefer to add an overdrive to channel 2. Really love this amp.
@@youknowhuwitisnot the OP, but I use Aris Effects Savage Drive. Drives the amp very well since this amp isn’t that high gain (for a high gain amp) on its own, it benefits greatly from an OD
Great video. I love my IRT Studio and it's surprisingly good for its price range (I paid 250€ for it...). One thing I found and really liked when using the rythm channel is lowering the channel gain to 4, the boost to 3, but put a pedal in front - an OCD with just the tiniest amount of gain and a healthy amount of level gives the sound the grit that is missing to my hears.
Thank you for this video. I was ready to sell my Ironheart because I wasn't happy with the sound. I'm going to test again with the settings you suggest. I love your guitar riffs.
I have the IRT60 head too with the Laney IRT 4x12 cab. Sounds massive and super versatile for sure. I recently bought a 2x12 cab and put a V30 and Hesu Demon in it. Gonna try that with the Laney soon. Very good video, man. Greetings from a fellow Dutchman \m/
Had that same amp at one time... Bought a OG 5153 50w 6L6 head and could get Laney so close to the EVH ... But then could adjust to close to my Mesa Single Rec head.. great amp
Sounds really cool. The sort of fizzy (?) character when you do staccato palm muting sounds a little like an Engl, Mesa Mark iv/v, and a 5150 all had a baby together (which I consider a good thing).
nice review... I was struggling between this amp and a Fender Supersonic.. 2 different beasts.. bought the Supersonic. and more it goes.. more I want this specific amp.. will go with the 30 Watts. they are rare in Canada. and thanks for all your reviews. well done:)
When I turn it up all the way for some reason it sounds the cleanest, but that's just my own opinion and taste of course. That's what's so interesting to me anyway
@@TheBigman603 It was perfect, but not what I was looking for..Sold it for $800...I'm just happy with my Boogie MKIV and my Kemper. First time I haven't taken a loss on gear!
I honestly wish I never would have sold my IRT Studio. I regret it every time I see a Laney in the wild or on RUclips! The only thing I do wish they would do is separate the rhythm and clean channels completely. I understand shared EQ for space/money savings, but the rhythm channel is SO much better than the lead channel on the Ironhearts.
I think that you should do a comparison video between the irt 60 and Laney’s loudpedal. Running both through a 4x12 and do another compression running the loudpedal in the irt 60’s power amp side.
I have a Laney Lionheart which is a great amp, but would like to add an Ironheart for some more flavours. From all the demos I've heard, they seem quite versatile. Not just for Metal! Edit: I meant to mention they have their own built in attenuators as well, which is cool for using them at home or in the studio.
Relieved at the validation of speaker choice. I run a marshall mf280 cab loaded with marshall vintage speakers with my 60 watt laney ironheart. Mine has been biased with el84s though, might go for the 6l6 instead your has more bite.

Had a IRT15H, sounded pretty awsome. But the LAney had to go after I got an AOR for recording and an Amp1 for live use. Nice riff, sounds a lot like Cancer Bats.
Hello, I saw you had a review on the Victory super kraken, my question is if you gonna review the Victory kraken MK2 in the future. Curious of what you think of it.
Another great video! I like this amp and the sounds. But for my taste I would adjust a bit less bass and a bit more midds. Thats probably why I like the Orange 50w mk3 and the PSR Archon so much.... 🙃
I just picked up one of these for what I consider a pretty good price. I hope it sounds as good as yours although my playing is a little sloppier than yours. 😂 Thanks for making this video to get me started on some tones.
Just perhaps a little nitpick, but are the two 2 tones loudness matched? It seems there is a pretty big difference in overall volume (lower "all noon" and higher on "your settings"). This would of course make sense since you boosted all of the frequencies/settings in your settings.
hi mate, got another question for you if ya dont mind. do you use an attenuator with yours, if so which one please? i noticed with your settings the watts knob is way up, which i've never been able to do due to the volume so curious if i'm missing out on a lot by not being able to saturate them tubes. cheers
I had this amp in 60W version for a while but I sent it back and got a Vox AC30CH instead. Although I do love my Vox, I kind of miss this amp. I had decided to use modellers with my Katana 100 MK 2 for high gain sounds. But there's something about this amp. I can't put it in to words. I have an opportunity to get the 120W head for a very good price near my place. Is there any other benefit to getting the 120W version instead of 60W apart from more clean headroom? For context, I play only at home and at low volumes. I would appreciate your inputs, John!
Like some of the others, I did not like the internal boost. Putting an overdrive in front made a big difference to my ears. Also, you need to take the time to tweak this amp. It requires both effort and patience.
