One of the reasons I upgraded this year. I hike quite often and there’s usually no cell service. Too bad I’m on vacation right now and can’t test the demo out.
I saw a demo of this on another channel and at the time, I didn't have the demo available. About an hour or so later, I received a notification and it was there. Great feature!
Thanks Aaron for going through this satellite feature!!.It’s really cool to actually see this!!. It’s nice to see it’s simple and easy to use!!.Really appreciate the effort-Keep it up!.
Occasional hiker here. Bought an iPhone 14 specifically for this function. Great video, thanks much. Apple really does software right. There are other similar options -- as hikers know -- but they are clunky (though they also have the ability to text to friends/family, not just emergency services. Have to assume Apple will add something similar at some point, probably for a fee.)
I live in The Netherlands so unfortunately it isnt out here yet. However hopefully it will be soon. It's super nice to have this when you are outside of the city. Or on vacation to a foreign country when you don't have connection.
When I initially tried the demo, it said it wasn’t available. I tried again after 5 minutes with success. This is an awesome feature… nice to know that help is available no matter where you are… By the way, I wasn’t notified… well, that is until your video. Thanks so much Aaron!
I actually got a notification and I’m from Canada. This is gonna be great up here because a lot of areas that I love going out and about camping and going for hikes there is no cellular service
I see it on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, I live in a big city here on the east coast so I hope I never have to use it. However, its nice to have as a backup.
I noticed the new notification a few days ago and it’s pretty cool, there are a few spots in my city that is a total dead zone and this could come in handy
As an Oregon hunter and outdoors enthusiast I agree. Not many cell towers in the hills/woods/mountains. I always worried if I might break an arm or something and alone. One more layer of preparedness. Hope it comes to the Apple Watch Ultra sometime.
Actually, I got a red bubble on my settings app. When I went into settings. It told me I have satellite now. That’s good. I do hike some times. So, this helps. Reassurance. Hopefully I’ll never need it.
I live in the Netherlands it isn’t available here right now but I don’t think its necessary because I have never had an moment when I am not connected to an network
Do I understand that one can send a Non Emergency Position message somehow? Sorry-Just watched last part of your video-Question answered. Yes my 14 has new satellite service. Palm Springs, CA.👍
I have it. Never got notification, so I'm pleased you covered this service. UPDATE: For the heck of it I tried the demo while laying in bed in my home. The phone found a satellite through the bedroom window and worked fine.
This will save lives. Natural fit for those up in Labrador on the highway that spans 500 miles with no cellular service abd it gets cold up there. I would imagine same would go for Alaska or the ice roads up in the Arctic.
@@-_--th8vp Yeah, honestly I wouldn't mind if they made it so you can have a card linked and have it just charge you for usage rather than a subscription because how often would you rlly use this in the real world? A subscription model doesn't make sense but I'd totally be down to pay if in a bad scenario with no other choice. Keep in mind that the relay centres have employees + satellite connectivity so it costs money for them to run this.
I just had the new iPhone 14 pro max since last Friday and it’s amazing how much features you really get compared with 13s and I can’t wait until the sos satellite comes to the uk😊
Pity that other regions are seldom included with such features and sometimes other services that the US, Europe, UK get. Like Africa for example where I live(South Africa), I have the 14 Pro but I’m certain the feature will not be coming here any time next year or even the year after. We still don’t have a dedicated Apple Store in the country and continent, only authorised resellers, no Apple Card etc.
I've only been to Kenya and Tanzania, but if any place would need this it's the African Continent. Outside of the cities there's alot of empty distance and at night a whole lot of dark.
Just one correction. They haven’t said what happens after 2 years. I saw an interview recently with an Apple executive that worked on this feature and he wouldn’t say. I personally doubt it will be a subscription model but will instead be pay per use. Imagine someone dying in the wild with a supported phone because they didn’t have a subscription and couldn’t subscribe due to lack of a signal.
Emergency SOS is here in a couple countries. Do you see it on your iPhone 14 too? Thanks for watching it is always appreciated.
When will it come to the uk?
L
Thanks Aaron, I have it on my 14 Pro Max. I am in the Chicago area.
And ios 16.2 bêta 3?
Got it!!
Also, iOS 16.2 Beta 3 is out now. Video later.
We are waiting 😊
@@MR-S-S Čekamo pomno, ja već apdejtujem lol
Yes 🙌
Testing it right now from planet Venus.
Testing from mars
Your the first person to be in Venus??
Bro that place isn't even extreme, just go to Ohio💀
@@tudorftbl Slight lag there. Mars does work better, with slight fps drops.

Works great in Puerto Rico. Less than a minute to connect and about 20sec to send/receive

I also got a notification around 12 today asking to test the demo out. I did it from my basement and it actually worked well. Very much welcomed
I thought you were able to send regular text messages using the satellite service? Not just emergency ones?
When I initially tried the demo, it said it wasn’t available. I tried again after 5 minutes with success. This is an awesome feature… nice to know that help is available no matter where you are… By the way, I wasn’t notified… well, that is until your video. Thanks so much Aaron!
i received the new SOS service on 14 Max Pro in Alabama..
I actually got a notification and I’m from Canada. This is gonna be great up here because a lot of areas that I love going out and about camping and going for hikes there is no cellular service
Just in time for my trip to sequoia this weekend
I see it on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, I live in a big city here on the east coast so I hope I never have to use it. However, its nice to have as a backup.
Worked great for me on my iPhone 14pro
I noticed the new notification a few days ago and it’s pretty cool, there are a few spots in my city that is a total dead zone and this could come in handy
I recently saw a little SOS thingy where the cellular bars usually are when the cellular cut off for a bit
I think this will be a great, as an avid outdoorsman here in the Pacific Northwest this could save a life. Thanks for the update

Hi! Does one have Emergency SOS via Satellite with Apple watch ultra?
I would consider it… depending on future user results.
I have it here in Washington state. Thank you, Aaron for showing us them demo! I love your channel!

Yes, works great in Texas Country. 😎
So will apple charge for the service later?
I have it on my 14. G.
Nice review and my 14 Pro Max has it in PA.
Got the notification on mine today from Canada 🇨🇦
Great video Aaron!!
Subscription for emergency services? What's the price on our lives, Apple?
Does the demo actually communicate with the satellite?
Probably goes to the nearest cell tower.
Cool feature. I wonder if VoiceOver would give verbal instructions on how to move to locate a satellite

Nice! Definitely can be useful in those remote wilderness hunts in Eastern Washington!
Thank you, I would probably not find that out if I was not following you here. Excellent video, thank you again.

It’ll save lives if your subbed and make the payments lol. Welcome to modern capitalism
@@xykane 2 years free. And they still arent 100% set on charging after those 2 years

What a neat feature. Thanks for the excellent review.
Well are you got to test the IP68 rating.😏
Have it here in ATL. IPhone 14 PM
Your vids are awesome
I still don’t have this setting. I even upgraded to the latest beta. 14 pro max in California
Could u just tap a send location coordinates button ?
That would be cool IF we could find an Iphone 14..... :(
I have in Michigan USA this will be great moving down to Alabama this next month
Wonder how is this compare to an Garmin InReach mini 2.
Does connecting to satellite use more battery life?
Popped up on my phone. I hope I never have to use it, but it’s nice to know it’s there when I need it.
I am in Alberta Canada and it’s not working yet , it’s a shame because I drive in the Yukon regularly and it’s winter up here 🥶
I get the message, “satellite connection demo not available”. So the demo is not working right now on my iPhone 14 pro running 16.1.1 in the U.S.😢
My build # ended in a 3e instead of a 9e so I guess I will get it soon. Not showing available yet. Good show, again, thanks.
Also Apple released iOS 16.2 beta 3
I'm in Toronto, Canada and there is no sign of it yet on my iPhone 14 Pro Max.
I tried satlelite communication inside and it worked. I don't think I trust it.
Great video to increase awareness of this function. Maybe this video will contribute to save a life in the future 🙏
Really need this feature in Australia as we have remote locations with no cell connectivity
Thanks for sharing. I see it on my 14 Pro Max (Nebraska). Blessings on your day 👍🏻
I do not see it yet.
Jason Snell said on MacBreak Weekly this week that when you dial 911 and there is no cell tower available it will automatically use this
Great info video 👍🏽
Thanks for letting us know
Do you live near the mint museum?
I don’t have it yet. 16.1.1. Los Angeles.
In Ontario Canada and it’s working, thanks for the info!
why is this feature subscription based? So if youre not subscribed and youre in danger, you cant use it?
Mine also work inside the house
I’m in Montana and I’m not seeing it.
Thanks for the video, Aaron.
It’s a bit chilly out lol
Mine doesnt show demo option. Im on iPhone 14
i don’t have the option for some reason I have a 14 pro on 16.1.1
Would this work if I’m stranded in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean?
Cant wait for the first person to use this emergency sos in real life
I still don’t have it.
Id love to have it available for the 11 series 12 series and 13 series also for canada and us of a!
Ive been waiting for this upload :)
Awesome video, nice to see this new feature.
I live in Canada but I don’t have it
Very cool. I hope my iPhone 12 mini gets it very soon
Hmm weird not showing on 14 Pro 16.1.1. Same after restart
Have it interior British Columbia Canada
Seems like a really good feature in times of serious crisis but I like my 13 so I’ll just wait till the 15 or 16 iPhone comes out
i dont have it on my iphone 14???
I had it on my phone about three days ago
yep, it came out 3 days ago. That is when I posted the video too.
This will save lives
It's on in San Antonio, Texas. This feature is really cool. It will give me peace of mind when my daughter is away. Well..some peace of mind :)
I’m in Pennsylvania and I don’t have it

Not any dramatic differences from the 13's, the island is really the only thing most people will use
Thanks for the info, Arron
I’m in Sacramento, CA and have nothing yet. (iOS 16.1.1, iPhone 14 Plus)
same here in LA
