No joke a friend of mine had extreme problems after a failed driver update, had to plug the cable to the mainboard for the igpu to work so he could restore the driver. After he did that he completely forgot to switch the cable and was complaining of low fps in stuff like league. So he thought his pc was just slow. So he brought a pc with a 1080 ti with an i7 8086k (horrible cpu) and got me to set it up. i was speechless when i noticed the cable connected to the mainboard instead of the gpu
REMEMBER if you have an extreme GPU, but playing games lags, you may have plugged in the monitor to the motherboard, so it will use integrated graphics, NOT your GPU
On some systems, if you have a discreet GPU, the onboard GPU won't even initialize, and that's presuming the CPU even has an embedded GPU. Fortunately, some systems will even tell you that you aren't plugged into the correct GPU.

Lol wait question, I bought a laptop that had intel IRIS xe graphics and a core i7. It is an HP Envy. It runs at 60-65FPS, If I were to buy a 144hz monitor does it still cap at the 60-65? Not that I want to buy one I’m just not sure how it works. Thanjs
@@Jay-xl3ln What I could suggest is looking into the advanced display settings first. If your laptop can go to a higher refresh rate. Because if the highest refresh rate listed on the settings is 60 fps, then even if you connect it to a 144hz monitor it will still only use a 60hz refresh rate.
Seeing as how there's only one stick of ram, a small cpu cooler, and a small gpu, I can only imagine that this is a pre built from best buy or somewhere. They all look like this.
@@Fearless-RGjup, especially knowledge is expensive. I work at a company that gets requested world wide for our knowledge and experience in a very specific and niche part of electrical engineering. Of course prices are not going to be cheap, there are only a handful of engineers on the world that have this knowledge. Consumers can't pay for it (not our customers) and the few companies that find it too expensive apparently don't have enough issues. We have only so many people and they need to focus on the companies that really need it.
Just a little reminder, that the update driver feature in the device manager never works, you have to get the file from the manufacturers website and then run it

Microsoft has to have the WHQL version of the drivers for it to install it. And most of the time they don’t. It’s generic drivers. I just upgraded from this exact gpu like 2 weeks ago. Rx570 will run pretty much everything up to rdr2 at ~high quality with minimal issues. That old card is a sleeping beast

This is way most support answer start with asking the user to install the latest drivers. It is a more advanced version of "have you turned it off and back on again"
Im just gonna put it here, windows update has a problem of kicking out the AMD gpu driver and instead it prios the integrated gpu driver, just turn off your windows auto update and reinstall all your amd gpu drivers. Better yet use DDU and then install your amd drivers with the windows auto update off. Its been like this for years now. And its only happening to AMD gpus Theres also a way for you to exclude the gpu driver from windows update, but thats for you to learn on your own.
For some reason I couldn't find an RX580 (570 was a bit too old for comfort) at a reasonable price on Amazon back when I made my pc, so the next best thing was a GTX 1660 Super with more consistent and slightly better performance than the 580s But the 580 was always a great card, even today it's awesome if you're on a tight budget
It's funny - had a client bring in a system for this very reason a couple months ago because they had no sound from the HDMI and everything ran slow. The RX560 was also disabled and driver corrupted.
My sister bought a gaming notebook for rendering (she studied architecture). After 2 damn years she complained that its way too slow and got a mac book, gave me the gaming notebook. Turned out she had the fucking gpu disabled for the entire duration.

No, the reason why the display and games worked is because it was using an internal gpu that is in the cpu itself not because of "Microsoft basic adapter", that thing is just for the default driver for any gpu to run it. If it was the basic driver then the resolution wouldn't even in hd and you can't even run Minecraft.

I didn't even know that drivers had to be manually updated until yesterday. I updated my GTX 1650 software to its latest version and instantly saw an average of a 20 frame increase in all of my games.
My friend had a similar story where he disconnected everything to clean his tower. When he reconnected everything he put the HDMI cord into the motherboard. As a result, all of his games were incredibly slow, due to that port only having access to integrated graphics. Back in those days about 10 years ago they weren’t just interchangeable.

Hi! Please do not return that to the customer, It is very common for RX 400/500 gpu's that are that old for windows to disable it. That GPU is dying, some apps work fine, but if you run a intense game or something specific, the computer goes black and disables itself again. This had happen to me to 3 gpu's already.

This is a WIndows 11 issue, it just randomly disables the drivers for whatever reason. Sometimes it happens even when you boot. Drivers are no the issue here, even after checking the whole system it seems like this is a W11 issue.

Drivers can make a huge difference. U even can look up wich driver versions works best with a specific game and load them. With good cards u dont need to do this but on some older cards this can help to get some performance boost

it does work, the drivers are normally a couple revisions old and tested "good." (I use it to test for driver issues)

I have that exact pc, it was a prebuilt from bestbuy for like 800 bucks. Ran really well from early 2021 to now late 2023. Upgrading it soon 💪💪

Drivers are kernel level meaning that the operating system (windows) needs them in order to communicate efficiently with your hardware.
uninstall driver and reinstall them. There is still the previous driver that might cause problems.
