This song is probably a result of sexism or phobia towards men and lack of imagination causing thinking that every woman wants exactly what you want (said by single woman with the exact degree og Tiana would be NOT interested about , I really think the approach is unhealthy)
@@a.w.4708 Literally. As a woman it’s honestly embarrassing when all these woman keep downing men. Like I understand hating individuals but hating the entire population of men is crazy, especially when we practically need them.
She said that because the stereotype is that they cut open frogs. She was turning all the princesses into kinda like the opposite of how they were portrayed in their movies.
@@Cheesyluvscheese I feel like how every princess is portrayed in this song is not accurate cause mulan isn’t a lesbian cause she was with that guy in the movie and bell i in got nothing for bell rapunzel didn’t hate her hair she loved her hair so why would she cut it off Tiana wanted to become a restaurant owner not some scientist Ariel wasn’t self conscious about not having feet she just wanted to be with the humans
@@azzy9132That's why fake feminists don't try to understand the story line. And the reason why Disney defies her as strong, it's in the movie! I may not agree with some Disney love interests, but Ariel isn't insecure of having a tail. They should watch the films back.
@@greyskymy exactly! i was a total disney kid. From what i've seen, ariel does not feel insecure having a tail, she wants something different, something unique. She is really curious about humans and when she does fall for eric, it just adds another reason to want to be human too. I'm baffled that ppl come to these conclusions, either they are just pick me who think that its 'cool' to criticize movies for KIDS! truly a dumb excuse to try to be 'feminist' if u ask me...ppl have forgotten what feminism actually is and that's just annoying ngl. It's stupid...just like this song.
no bc tiana was a girlboss in her own movie, she made her own restaurant, why cant it js say her restaurant was super successful instead of her getting a bio degree😭
Tiana never dreamed of becoming a biochemist or engineer. She is a hardworking business lady and her relationship with Prince Naveen is more than healthy.
Yeah, I never liked that part of the song. I feel like if anything, she would start a popular chain of resturaunts. She was already such an icon though.
Yeah, hers is a modern story about a hard working woman that works for what she has, and winds up with a man that is willing to grow as a person with her, and help her with her dream. The fuck she gonna do with a biomedical degree? She likes cooking!!!!
@@Meeekuuuu That's not what I meant, I probably should've capitalized need. You don't NEED a man, but you can want one, and both of you CAN build on eachother and all. It's probably a woman's rights song, that's all.
@@PunishedMushu true. In society, we need both man and woman, however, one woman doesn't need a man to do everything. Still, you're 100% right. Both genders do need eachother or else we wouldn't be here.
i HOPE TO GOD THEY DONT CHANGE PRINCESS AND THE FROG they are SUCH a good couple! and i wish we had the idea that you can be a girlboss with a man, too. tiana was perfectly fine without naveen but they gave each other love, i feel they were much happier that way (especially naveen, tiana is such an amazing woman and wife) someone to depend upon if they couldn’t depend upon themselves. they were so cute i hope they don’t change them IF they were to do live action.
In fact she loses her powers when her hair is cut so her mother would’ve probably KILLED HER so this is probably one of the most braindead songs I’ve ever listened to I like the message makes no sense
@@SupremeKingZA-RC and, if we’re taking about Tangled, Rapunzel saved Flyn, and he saved her! I hate that some of these songs are just “if you love a man, that makes you weak”, love isn’t weak!
I love the fact that these comments are sensible 😭 I’m so, so tired of women being told that falling in love makes them weak. The princesses are already so strong, they suffer through hardships without becoming horrible people. That is what makes a truly strong and great person
She’s just referring to the fact that they all got ‘saved’ by a man, she’s also just using them as characters to show that you CAN do things without a man. She’s not shaming anyone who is in love or anything, but just making a point. I think that we should all be fine with her art and song cuz she believes in it :)
@@TheBisexualGremlinGirl17oh so since I'm a man if I see a woman getting physically abused by a man much weaker than me meaning I could easily stop him I should just do nothing
@EvieJane-tq7bk there are many, many stories with physically strong female characters, (Mulan is already like that!) I really don’t think there’s any need to turn every single female character, most of which are already strong in their own way, into stereotypical girl bosses. What I mean is, over the last 15 years, almost every movie has had female empowerment, I don’t think there’s any point that hasn’t already been made. And I don’t think that indicating that physical strength and being very assertive and tough is what makes women strong is a very positive message. But I’m not trying to send hate to whoever made this song, I guess I understand what she’s trying to do, I just think that everyone is doing female empowerment wrong these days and I’m tired of it
Dude mulans love story and js the movie in general already shows that you can be a strong woman yet still be inlove also her love story with li shang is already wonderful and its honestly my favorite disney love story to this day
thank youuuu 😭😭 adding to that, jasmine is a muslim (can't be with the same gender) and she fell in love with aladdin, love doesn't make her nor mulan weak😭
Ariel didn't want to be human for the prince. It was because of her curiosity for the human world and her love for new things. Its just that she also found love amongst other things when she became human.
Yeah exactly! If she was just “happy without feet,” then her entire story and character disappears. That's taking away her main interest and source of happiness by not giving her a love for the human world 😭
If they wanted someone getting a degree I feel like Ariel could've been an anthropologist instead of Tiana who has no interest in science as far as I know
Also not to mention the original story was written by a gay man that wanted to express his feelings towards a man, and how no matter what he did he couldn't get him. Because he felt like a distant mermaid. In the original story ariel turns into seafoam and she never gets to marry eric. The intent WAS originally to meet the prince and not "eXpErIeNcE LifE aS a HuMaN" although it could in the disney movie. If she didn't want to have feet among her hundreds of fellow mermaids that were happy as they were, she would've never had her own story. And that cancels the whole point. It's not like disney hasn't made anything empowering for women. People just gotta change everything.
The fact that Jax made this song to make the princess seem more badass but half of them are already badass enough. Tiana is a hardworking lady with a whole cafe, Arial wanted to experience walking and happened to find a man, and Jasmine was a strong princess that risked going into the real world even though she didn't know much about it. Being in love or married doesn't make them weak.
She didn't make it to make them seem more badass. She did it to talk about consent, revenge against toxic Patriarchy and to make US feel badass. Not the Princesses. Mostly it's s an alternative Dark but slightly positive AU of them. It's just the format she used.
@@ginathecookie but that's what makes it sound stupid. Everyone who watched those movies with a little bit of attention already knows these are strong women who fought their way out of bad situations or handled a lot of bad things with their head held high, so when you add a "twist" to It, there is really no twist. If it were about making us feel more badass, why use the princesses in the first place? Plus it's one of those songs that shits on romantic women, even the gays are only making out. PLUS I'm deffending Phillipe forever because he knew about the curse
@@ginathecookiethere is no patriarchy in any of these Disney tales... I'm a woman and i know that... Some of these princesses needed to be rescued. Yes. It doesn't mean that men are superior to them. If you agree that men and women need each other then why is it "patriarchy" if the man helps the woman in the story? Will turning it into "I don't need no man" become a feminist agenda? What's the point of saying "we need each other and that we're equal then"? And about these men kissing the princesses. THAT WAS THE ONLY WAY to RESCUE them.
Being in love or being married is NOT a weakness. All of these princesses are "badass" enough. Rapunzel broke out of the tower, tiana has her own business/resturant AND a prince. Ariel was never insecure about her feet, she just wanted to experience what living on land was like. Belle CHANGED someone from being a beast to be her loving husband ( or something like that). Jax made this song to make the princesses more "badass" but tbh they already are
As much as i love this comment Jax made the song cuz her grandmother made a book bcuz she couldn't get with a prince in a school thing i dont think it was to make em more badass (what i think btw don't come at me if i'm wrong pls) But yk love the comment no hate to u
Seriously. I never understood the “she don’t need no man” mentality. Especially when in one of the scenarios, a princess DOES fall in love. The issue is this man-hating vindictive principle that some feminists push. Some, not all, don’t get me wrong.
@@Giggling-gooberone of them literally falls in love with another girl, what’s the difference? The difference is it’s not a man. These kinds of feminists just don’t want to see women happy with men. Just how some of them are.
But all of them were strong women. Tiana was a black woman who owned a business, worked her ass off. Mulan saved her country, jasmine didn’t just go off with any guy she chose her own destiny. Rapunzel escaped her abusive mum to do something she always wanted to. And Ariel wanted to see the human world so she got legs. Sleeping beauty showed kindness to people. They were all strong women in their own way
Good song, but they litterally picked the most girlboss princesses. Their stories were already fire. Tiana got her dream job, rapunzel freedom and independency, mulan's story is masterpiece on it's own. Sleeping Beauty couldn't save herself, she wad damned to sleep forever. Other way around Belle saved the Beast.
All of them are strong already though? Like Rapunzel escapes from an abusive relationship and saves someone's life, Mulan is literally a war hero, Jasmine is an independent princess who tamed a tiger and fell in love despite status differences, Tiana owns a successful business and has a happy marriage, Ariel explored the world and broke free of societal expectations within her family to live her own life, and Belle is a smart girl that didn't let other people's judgement of her determine what she could or could not do. So, like, why are we villianizing them?
You can have your own head canons. And endings for the princess movies, but why would Tiana get a biomedical degree? She's a chef, she loves baking and cooking.
Nah she could have just tied her cut locks like a rope onto the metal wire near the window, climbed down, and escaped long before Flynn even appeared. In this alternate universe, if Rapunzel is bold enough to cut her hair despite mother Gothel's order, she'd be brave enough to venture to the kingdom by herself and recover her identity. And Gothel would have long dissipated into dust by then, what can she do to Rapunzel? 😂
@@stran2323 Okay but we're acting like Flynn was a bad partner? And she would've never realized that Mother Gothel was lying since she thought that EVERYONE was out to get her hair and that it's nothing but danger, so she had Flynn escort her so she'd be safe, she wouldn't have left the tower without an escort and she'd likely die in the woods since she'd have no survival skills. Without Flynn, Rapunzel would've likely died in the woods due to either starvation or hypothermia and she would've never realized that mother gothel lied and would've never have even tried to escape.
@@Zariah-ue1fm Oh no Flynn isn't bad at all, I actually like him. My point was if Rapunzel wants to escape by herself it shouldn't be hard. Although she would have to be smart. Like maybe try to escape on her birthday so that she can see and go to where the lanterns are. I think if she learns of her identity she'd stop believing Gothel.
@@Zariah-ue1fm But I agree that OG Rapunzel was manipulated by Gothel. Gothel was practically her whole world. That's why for her to want to escape the tower in the first place she'd either have to be a very rebellious and daring girl, or she'd have to already doubt Gothel's intentions. But even if Gothel convinced Rapunzel everyone is after her hair, she'd have an even bigger incentive to cut it before running away, because that would pretty much solve the problem. I think OG Rapunzel is not so weak that she can't survive by herself for a while, she sang and danced with a bunch of ruffians in a bar and beat a full-grown man senseless with a frying pan 😆
Mulan saved her country. Jasmin realized that she didn’t need a man. Tiana actually achieves her dreams. Rapunzel survived her mother and later became queen. I’ve actully never watched sleeping beauty soo…. In conclusion, the princesses already are their own girl bosses.👸
EXACTLYY- I actually think that the song is actually discrediting what the princeses ACTUALLY did in their movies. Their motivations weren't a guy, it was to see the world, for their curiosity, to find themselves, to work for their dreams and what they always wanted... It's kind of annoying that in the song, they imply that in the original movies everything they wanted was to find a guy or something. MULAN IS LITERALLY A SIMBOL OF FEMINISM - 😭😭they could've chosen another princeses or characters to represent feminism in this song.
I think it's the idea that women are only empowered if they fit into their idea of a powerful person. Its giving "You're only a strong woman if you're is STEM" :/
What even is this song😭😭 Rapunzel would rot in the tower with her evil mother if she cut her hair Jasmine and Mulan are in different countries, plus mulan saved her own country and has a relationship, jasmine also has a relationship with aladin Aurora needed a kiss to be saved Ariel wantef to know about the human world Tiana is a successful entrepreneur and she owns a restaurant Beauty would never be a beast, shes literally so sweet😭
Mulan literally managed to pass the bootcamp for the soldiers as a lady, while defeating other men, became one of her best in her batch, killed a lot of the mongols, squared up to fight their leader and straight up saved the emperor. She was no where near weak even if she had a relationship in the end as she won over her man, one of the strongest in the army, by the sheer respect and admiration of her feats. Just because she fell in love to a man doesnt mean she is weak
@@cluckcluckchicken What? This is a classic that gave childhood to millions. Funny song what am I curious to know? And it’s ridiculous to justify this with fan fiction, since fan fiction can also be assessed by plot, logic and, in general, how creative. I haven’t defended Disney since they started making such ridiculous decisions around 2020.
Rapunzel is now trapped in that tower, and possibly in even more danger because cutting her hair gets rid of the magic, and thus gets rid of the only thing Mother Gothel is keeping her alive for. Jasmine and Mulan? Nah. Maybe Jasmine would like Mulan bc she's from a more rural upbringing but thats the only thing I can see working there. I mean, yeah kissing someone while they're asleep is really weird, I'd put this more with Snow White but also, like... both were put into magical comas. And the cure was a kiss of true love. So like... I mean if anyone were to kiss me when I was asleep, having it be my true love who I've already met and connected with would be the ideal outcome there. Ariel was obsessed with the human world long before Eric showed up. Shes essentially a mermaid anthropologist. She doesn't feel uncomfortable with herself, she just wants to experience a world that fascinates her. Eric was just a nice little bonus. Tiana is a chef. Not a scientist. And her being with Naveen didn't make her change her mind on her career path. In fact it just gave her even more support! She was gonna pursue opening a restaurant anyways, with Naveen there or not. He just kinda speed up the process a little bit and is supportive of her! ...Belle being a beast would be a cool twist but like... thats not the point of her role.
@@cluckcluckchickenthe thing is, Disney also made it their own, but this uses the Disney fairy tales and spins it as if what the princess had and wanted was wrong
Fr, also I find it ironic that Ariel's part is about how women shouldn't be insecure no matter what they look like, and then you have Ursula there who's drawn as skinny, younger, and overall "conventionally attractive". Like hello?? Why are we talking about Ariel being confident about a fish tail while erasing things that women are actually insecure about in real life, like weight and age?
@@SupremeKingZA-RC I beg to differ, it would have had a point if it didn't forced its narratives on existing stories that celebrates the strengths of women.
Look, I love Jax. Her music is great, but, something that she needs to know is just because women fall in love and get taken care of doesn’t make them weak, it just means that they have a loving relationship…
No literally and I’m noticing the mentality of a woman not needing a man, it’s always when a woman falls in love with a man there’s some kind of idea that feminists today push making the woman look weak with a man when they are just in love.
Literally these women fell in love AFTER finding their own passions, rapunzel was always fascinated with the world because she was so isolated, jasmine always knew her worth as a person and wanted to go see the world, Mulan was truly brave and strong for her family and fought for what she believed in, aurora was a kind hearted girl who treated everyone with that same kindness, ariel wanted to go explore the human world and THEN fell in love with a man oh and Tiana (one of my all time faves) absolutely adored cooking and was an incredibly person which is ultimately how SHE saved the Prince
The art in this is very nice, and I am aware that the poster did not write this song... but I hate this song lol. This is the first time I've heard it and I don't know how people can so thoroughly misinterpret the princesses stories like this. 1 Rapunzel cuts her hair off so she can... what? Rot in the tower alone with her abusive mother despite wanting to see the world? 2 Ariel always wanted to see the land, not because she wasnt confident, but because she wanted to explore and now more about the world. Her father was emotionally abusive whether we want to admit it or not, constantly making her feel like and outsider and destroying her things. Finding the prince and falling in love was a bonus. 3 The singer mashes up Mulan and Jasmine but they've literally never met and are very much in love with their partners. 4 Aurora liked prince Philip and they had conversations and interactions where they showed they had interest in one another and, yeah its always creepy and unacceptable to kiss someone when they are asleep or unconscious, but she was cursed and going to died, what she did was more akin to CPR in that context. 5 Tiana's dream was to be a chef and restaurant owner, a dream Navine helped and supported! 6 Lastly the point of Beauty and the Beast is that the Beast was not a monster, he was hurt and scared and Belle related to that, feeling like an outcast in her village, even with her father. The point of it was the only monsters in the situation were the ones judging at a glance, *just as this singer does with the princesses stories in this song* Also while I'm at it, I see people talking about Snow White and the prince being 14 and 40, but in the disney movie theyre both about 15, like. Don't get me wrong, I'm AroAce and I think the prevalence of romance stories where one party sacrifices a significant portion of themselves for the other is a problem and should be critiqued. But thats not what this is, this is taking stories of woman and girls in abusive or unhealthy situations who are shown they dont have to live that life and that there are people who will be there to love and protect them and boiling it down to: "Why did you let a man solve all your problems?"
Rapunzel would actually be slowly starving/dehydrating to death because Gothel turns to dust without the magic and no one knows where Rapunzel is or if she's even alive
my girl rapunzel sure was naive and innocent but she had so much courage to get out of the tower because she wanted to find those lanterns.. SHE LITERALLY BEAT WITH A PAN AND TIED UP FLYNN, SHE WAS ALWAYS BADDASS
This song makes me so mad... all of these girls were strong and independent in their own way. especially with Tiana. she worked her butt off for her restaurant and she make the price prove himself to her before she fell in love with him. she was such a bad ass and an amazing character. Just because a woman likes to cook doesn't mean they do it for a man. she did it for herself all by herself.
2 things I found weird 1. The most obvious is Tiana getting a biomedical degree. She literally had a whole restaurant and was already such a girlboss, the man relied on _her_ 2. Aurora’s and Belle’s names not being used. Like I get maybe it’s for familiarity? Maybe? But in a song empowering these women I think they should’ve been given their names, not just “Beauty” Bonus: why is Ursula skinny 😭😭
for the first one the song is basically what they would do in the opposite biomedical degree so she dissects frogs also she wasn’t a girlboss because he relied on her. she was just simply a girlboss, she didn’t need money she’s hardworking. and naveen lifted her up, just like she did him which IMO made her even more of a girlboss.
@@MadaraUchiha-.._ Ok the first one makes more sense now Tho for the second I wasn’t implying she was a girlboss for Naveen relying on her, I meant she was already a girlboss, and Naveen relying on her was just a little fact Sorry if it came off that way !!
For #2, I think she just made that decision for the sake of the song. Like it wouldn’t flow as well if she said, “And Belle realized that she was the beast.” It would kinda defeat the purpose yk? It just flows better when you add “beauty” in there, imo. Like the words “beauty” and “beast,” contrast each other making it have an even deeper meaning. And because, yk, the movie’s name is “Beauty and the Beast” 😭? And the Sleeping Beauty one, idrk? Maybe because more people recognize Aurora as Sleeping Beauty rather than her actual name? I mean, with my personal experiences, I didn’t know her real name until way further in life lol. Anyways, that was my take on it and you don’t have to agree. Have a good day 🤍
@@evancjh317 I don’t think that’s right Anything mentioning her says “Belle”, not Beauty. And many sources say her name is Belle, I think she’s only referred to as Beauty because of who she’s based on and cuz of how beautiful she is
Can't Rapunzel just use the long cut-off hair, tie it to the wooden stick poking out of the window like a rope, and climb down the tower? The locks don't need to be attached to her head for her to do that 😂
@stran2323 No, because girl is so dependent on Mother and believed her every lie, so if she ever escaped without any escort, she would probably be 💀 in 3 days because she's very likely to get lost in the forest surrounding
@@stran2323She was brainwashed by mother gothel to never cut her hair + she wouldn’t survive alone, after she left the tower to see the lights with Eugene, there was some rustling in a bush and she got scared of that. It’s obvious she’ll return to the tower or get lost and die.
Rapunzel LIKED her hair. Jasmin and Mulan don’t make sense. Sleeping beauty needed a true loves kiss to wake up. Ariel wanted to have legs to have true love. Beauty and the beast is also about love. Love isn’t weak. Love is beautiful.
Fr And Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty they just had to have someone, Rapunzel had been manipulated all her life, she was convinced that the world was evil and the spell on Sleeping Beauty JUST NEEDED A PRINCE

Why is no one talking about mulan? 😭 She's so strong like, she litterally saved China. And Shang (her husband) was the one that looked for her after the EMPEROR rewarded her and gave her the name of "Hero of China" What can one do more than this?😭😭
that's a pretty good, and honestly solid take!! I think the point of the video was women living their life confidently, without any man, since historically women were viewed as accessory to them. Alsooo, Personally as an aro-ace person, seeing female characters who don't fall in love with a man, and confidently do what they want is pretty neat :))
But.. Rapunzel wouldn’t escape from the tower without Flynn😭(I forgot his real name) Mulan literally saved the entire COUNTRY without a man😭 Jasmine sacrificed herself to Jafar for the country, and she was not afraid to go to the real world alone😭 + If they would’ve make out with that wouldn’t make sense Tiana wanted to have a restaurant to accomplish her and her father’s dream😭 Yes, the prince didn’t have any right to kiss Aurora while she was asleep, but without him she would’ve slept for many years more😭 Ariel wasn’t insecure about her tail, she wanted to explore the earth like Jake wanted to explore Pandora, the fact that she fell in love with the prince was just a bonus and another reason for going to earth😭 Belle wasn’t interested in marriage, she said no to Gaston, she sacrificed herself for her father, and in her first days with the beast she even refused to eat with him and she even changed her man in a good way😭 They all are already mature and strong and the fact that they fell in love doesn’t make them less stronger. And some of their princes also sacrificed themselves for their love. Omg..so many likes😆 Thank you everyone 😘
I feel like this song is trying to paint Disney princesses to be more ‘badass’ but really they’re mischaracterizing them. Like Ariel wasn’t insecure of not having legs, she was just fascinated of the human world and wanted to explore it.
SO Rapunzel dies in that tower, Mulan doesn't save China like the absolute Queen she is, Tiana gives up her literal life's dream and dedication to her fathers words, the Sleeping Beauty one makes sense, and Belle apparently kills the Beast? Instead of, you know, pursing a career as an author or some shit?
no, the sleeping beauty doesn't make any sense. If the prince didn't kiss her then she will remain in eternal sleep. Aurora would've gone mad if the prince kissed her without a consent but the thing is, aurora smiled at him which means she knows phillip did the right thing.
@@Jailmatejailbreak7 nah it wouldn't, the song said aurora sued the prince for kissing her without permission, but in the real story the prince didn't just kissed her, he literally r@ped her.
I’d just like to say: Rapunzel wasn’t saved by a man, she bribed him into taking her to see her dream. Her goal was never to find love but she did. Cinderellas goal was to get out of her shitty household and she wanted to find love (there is nothing wrong with that she can still be a bad bitch and want love) Snow White was a teenager. It’s no wonder see was naïve and she had a kind heart. Her goal was to find love, but she ended up surviving her own murder. Jasmine is just straight up badass. She wasn’t saved by anyone she was just taught that good guys do exist. Mulan speaks for herself. Moana speaks for herself. Merida Speaks for herself. Ariel’s goal wasn’t to get a man. Her goal was legs. She wanted to be on land. The man became a way for her to break her own curse. Anna was cooped up. I don’t blame her for wanting to find love. She learned that there are shitty men and she also learned to defend herself. Elsa never needed a man, but she did need her sister. Even a queen needs love. Tiana never wanted a man she was just trying to break someone’s curse. Belle wasn’t even looking for love. She was saving her father. It doesn’t get more badass than that. Ugh there’s too many… basically all the princesses are badasses and so they wanted love. Don’t we all?
Too tired to be makin this convo for like the umpteenth time but it is worth noting Mulan was significantly more bamf in source material- becoming so credited a general the Emperor himself tried to marry her to one of his daughters. Like- invited her into the heavenly family, impressive. And THAT'S when she finally gave up her identity. Love never came into it. Belle sung of adventure, travel and experiences and... got married to a jerk 2 hours away. Jasmine was saved by Aladdin, even if she took a more active role in her rescue. So did Rapunzel. Ariel got married at 16, that's wrong no matter the context. It's fine to look up to the chars but it's pretty important to recognize Disney fed us some really toxic bs as kids.
@@weegee_timefr, this song is just trying hard to push the “Women don’t need men” type thing, but I don’t see how getting degrees or realizing your strengths involves that.

What she even gonna do with a biomedical degree?! She wants her own michelin star restaurant, not a lab! This is ignoring the princesses dreams and goals (and fairy tale land lore) for some self gratification and to say "uhh so strong!". Mulan wanted to help save her dad and on the way saved a country, she didn't want to leave everything behind to make out with some far away princess, she is badass enough without any extra smooching
it's good but not the lyrics, it confused the gayness out of me, first off biomedical degree wasn't a thing until 30 years in 1951, just after tiana's timeline which was the 20s to early 30s, plus she did my villain queen ursula dirty by making her a skinny and had no curves.

honestly, i think the real message is "you dont need a man to be strong & you can be whatever you wish (even straight or gay too)", not about the princesses themselves. that's how i take it.
Loving a guy doesn’t make you any weaker. The love interest in each Disney movie helped grow the princess into a more powerful character. For example, without Eugene, Rapunzel would have never stepped outside and realize how strong she is.
i hate this song sm...i loved fairytales as a kid 😢 still do! these women are still STRONG, they didnt "submit" to their men, they fell in love!! love is not a weakness
I’m sick of the act of being feminine and wanting love being labeled as weakness. It’s so counterproductive to the original purpose of the feminist movement. The modern definition of a “strong woman” is someone who has erased all femininity and quite frankly has the traits of a stereotypical man. How some people can’t see the strength these characters hold on their own is baffling to me. Even Cinderella, she spent years in an abusive household where she wasn’t valued but she stayed kind and caring and managed to find some happiness in her situation nonetheless until she eventually found love and got out of there. She never lost sight of her dreams or her own worth.
Ah someone who has no idea what femininity is talks about femininity you love to see it.....the modern version of a strong woman is a woman who is empowered by her feminine traits And because of years of sexism you are conditioned to think that most good traits are masculine traits Like if a woman is confident that's a masculine trait.... It's not erasing femininity it's showing how much of a god dam box concepts like femininity and masculinity are Modern society operates under the basis You do something good It's masculine You do something bad It's feminine From the perspective of men of course
@@Diveblock Sure, femininity and masculinity are concepts and I agree, a woman should be empowered by her feminine traits, but as I think you say, society tends to not value the traditional traits associated with it. Those traditionally associated with masculinity are idealised in both men and women, leading to a devaluing of traditional feminine traits, which I think is the crux of the issue.
Tiana wanted to be succesful in her restaurant. And happened to get a man along side her Ariel was confident. She just wanted to explore the world and happened to get a man along her journey Cinderella wanted to go the ball and unintentionally got the prince to search the whole town to find becuase thats how beutiful she was. Edit: the sleeping beauty one. they both knew each other before hand and were good friends. That kiss saved her life. (This is off the movies not the grimms stories)
Rapunzel wanted someone to save her from the castle Jasmine was middle eastern and being gay there is illegal and Mulan was set all the way in China The girl from sleeping beauty was named Aurora and the kiss was necessary for her to come back to life How the FUCK was Ariel supposed to make it to land and meet Eric without fucking feet to walk with Tiana must've had a big career change in the sequel because last time I checked, she was the owner of a restaurant And the girl from beuty and the beast was named Belle. Have you even watched those movies before?
Fun fact. Rapunzel actually wouldn't be able to go anywhere without her hair meaning she'd starve with enough time. Not to mention mother gothel would be the equivalent of an undertale monster after a genocide route
Can people stop hating on the song?!- 😭 It’s literally made because girls are being ab^sed by their boyfriends and husbands every day in different ways The boys making girls behave like Victorian girls Not letting the girls have any money Being mentally and physically ab^sive And so much more!-
The song has a good message, but using the Disney princesses, who are already strong female characters in their own right, does a disservice to their characters. If Rapunzel cuts her hair, she’s stuck in that tower for the rest of her life with an emotionally abusive, gaslighting mother. And even if she escaped on her own, she would have no idea who she could trust and who would hurt her because Eugene wouldn’t be there to help guide her. Jasmine and Mulan making out ruins their characters because they already have respective partners and cheating isn’t okay. Not to mention that Mulan is several, SEVERAL, years older than Jasmine. I will defend Prince Phillip because he *knew* that Aurora was cursed and knew that kissing her would break the curse. It was essentially CPR. Ariel didn’t want to go to the human world just for Eric, she wanted to go to the human world because she had always been fascinated by humans. Eric was a bonus. Why in the hell does Tiana need a biomedical degree? She’s a hardworking, goal-driven, passionate woman who managed to buy and own a successful restaurant in a time period where black people were facing extreme prejudice. Beauty realizing that “she was the beast” completely defeats the message of the story. Belle is meant to be a character who’s kind and loving and sees the good in everyone, so if she turns out to actually be a horrible person then it completely nullifies her character. And about the “hating on the song” bit. The majority of the comments under this short have been really respectful and sensible? Comments are just pointing out how Jax took stories of strong female characters who have healthy, loving relationships with their partners, and butchered them in order to make them “stronger.” Is writing music to encourage women to leave their abusive partners and find confidence within themselves a good thing? Absolutely! Did Jax use *horrible* examples to prove her point? Absolutely!
whoever made this song was too busy thinking about the hate for the love stories to actually watch the movies. Ariel loved people in general, Eric was just an extra cherry on top, Tiana was working hard already, she just happened to fall in love with Naveen on the way, Mulan was working for her country, it wasn’t even Jasmine’s movie, Belle was about how you shouldn’t be afraid of things you don’t know just because you don’t know them, Repunzel has a lot bigger problems than falling in love so if your gonna write a song about princesses then watch the movies fully before you do
The song isn’t mainly about these characters and the ways they aren’t “being a princess” though. This part of the song is just metaphors on how it would be like in 2023 instead. I think you were a little too busy writing this comment then actually checking the song out.
@@Hazbin_hotel_lover938it’s shitty because there are people like the singer who think that even though they live in the greatest country in the world they still find something to complain about. 1. Tiana wanted to open her own restaurant. Whats with the biodegree? 2. Rapunzel? She was stuck in a tower dude. Whats she gonna do? Jump and end it all? 3. Sleeping Beauty, if ANY of you know another way to break the curse that yknow, makes her a vegetable, feel free to tell me. Id love to know 4. Belle? Yeah she didnt need Beast and she could have left when she was given the chance by Mrs. Pot but no, she saw the Beast for who he was and fell in love. The story is about seeing someone for their character instead of appearance 5. Ariel: Her issue wasnt confidence. Its was youthful ignorance and curiousity. She got curious about the land and traded her voice for it. She was already upset at her father so she just decided to dip. Not a confidence thing, just teenage rebelion and curiousity. 6. Mulan: She loved her family and was willing to risk her life for the life of her father. Nothing wrong with that. She eventually falls for the generals son which again, nothing wrong with that. She went to war out of love for her father and ended up leaving the war with the man of her dreams that accepted her as she was without all the high society "girl must be this way" stuff from the start of the movie. 7. Jasmine: Also loved her father but refused to be married to just any random guy for the sake of royalty. Hence she finds a random dude who doesnt want her for wealth but for HER. The genie coulda made this man Aladin have all the money in the world. It wasnt a matter of wealth or status. He loved her and she found someone who loved her for herself and someone who had good intentions.
THANK YOU! Seriously what’s the deal with feminism bs song. I swear I feel like people don’t do research at times, just watch the movie and learn from it. Geez. I’m not mad at the comment, I’m mad at the song because of it being stupid, inaccurate, and worst of all, makes women seem bratty for attention just because they feel insecure about their appearance.
Oh i do have the answer about Aurora. Why not just dont touch anything sharp? If she had a stronger self control, she wouldnt have followed temptation. But ofc teenage curiosity and whatnot, but seriously not touching anything sharp is common sense by the time we know what knives and scissors are. But then theres also that curse that makes her want to touch it, but she had the choice then, she wasnt technically forced to prick her finger.
Do people even understand these stories at all? Why did tiana get some degree when all she ever wanted was to own a restaurant? Why did Ariel lose the legs she worked so hard to get? Why did rapuzel shave the hair that already got cut off half way through the book? Beauty, Mulan, and jasmine were already doing as they pleased regardless of people around them. In fact all of them were. Except maybe sleeping beauty. That one makes sense.
I agree but if the guy didn’t kiss sleeping beauty she would still be sleeping, even though it was technically non-consensual I bet she would have rather been kissed than die
I think this song is so stupid. She probably never even watched Princess. People who like this song should open their eyes and see what she did to make it worse.
But that would still make sense the "don't judge a book by it's cover" would apply to Belle where she looks nice and a literal beauty but instead SHE WAS THE BEAST.

crazy how this song is trying to make good Disney movies look and sound like "Damsel in distress" movies 💀
If they wanted someone getting a degree I feel like Ariel could've been an anthropologist instead of Tiana who has no interest in science as far as I know
that’s mostly the thing for most of the disney princesses. they didn’t really have the idea “I NEED A MAN!” they were just bonuses
But even if Gothel convinced Rapunzel everyone is after her hair, she'd have an even bigger incentive to cut it before running away, because that would pretty much solve the problem. FRRRR it’s getting really fucking annoying seeing these songs saying we don’t need men
Mulan literally managed to pass the bootcamp for the soldiers as a lady, while defeating other men, became one of her best in her batch, killed a lot of the mongols, squared up to fight their leader and straight up saved the emperor. She was no where near weak even if she had a relationship in the end as she won over her man, one of the strongest in the army, by the sheer respect and admiration of her feats.
Just because she fell in love to a man doesnt mean she is weak

Especially the Rapunzel and Tiana ones- Like bruh they're pretty strong characters as they are
Rapunzel is now trapped in that tower, and possibly in even more danger because cutting her hair gets rid of the magic, and thus gets rid of the only thing Mother Gothel is keeping her alive for.
And where Jasmine lives, she would not be alive to see it through with Mulan.
whoever made this song forgot about what even happens in each of these fairytales 😭

Ariel wasn't insecure she wanted to explore the land
Fr, also I find it ironic that Ariel's part is about how women shouldn't be insecure no matter what they look like, and then you have Ursula there who's drawn as skinny, younger, and overall "conventionally attractive". Like hello?? Why are we talking about Ariel being confident about a fish tail while erasing things that women are actually insecure about in real life, like weight and age?

The song dont make any sense tho 😭
No
Look, I love Jax.
Most of the people who complain about these stories ultimately have no idea what they are trying to say To begin with
FR
Ikr
The point of it was the only monsters in the situation were the ones judging at a glance, *just as this singer does with the princesses stories in this song*
Also while I'm at it, I see people talking about Snow White and the prince being 14 and 40, but in the disney movie theyre both about 15, like.
EXACTLY. This songs SUCKS

Thanks! Song's a bop!
2 things I found weird
1. The most obvious is Tiana getting a biomedical degree. She literally had a whole restaurant and was already such a girlboss, the man relied on _her_
2. Aurora’s and Belle’s names not being used. Like I get maybe it’s for familiarity? Maybe? But in a song empowering these women I think they should’ve been given their names, not just “Beauty”
Bonus: why is Ursula skinny 😭😭
for the first one
the song is basically what they would do in the opposite
biomedical degree so she dissects frogs
also she wasn’t a girlboss because he relied on her. she was just simply a girlboss, she didn’t need money she’s hardworking. and naveen lifted her up, just like she did him which IMO made her even more of a girlboss.
@@MadaraUchiha-.._ Ok the first one makes more sense now
Tho for the second I wasn’t implying she was a girlboss for Naveen relying on her, I meant she was already a girlboss, and Naveen relying on her was just a little fact
Sorry if it came off that way !!
Have a good day 🤍
For the second one, I agree with the Aurora part, but for Belle, 'Beauty' was her actual name and 'Belle' was her nickname.
@@evancjh317 I don’t think that’s right

But.. Rapunzel wouldn’t escape from the tower without Flynn😭(I forgot his real name)
Mulan literally saved the entire COUNTRY without a man😭
Jasmine sacrificed herself to Jafar for the country, and she was not afraid to go to the real world alone😭
+ If they would’ve make out with that wouldn’t make sense
Tiana wanted to have a restaurant to accomplish her and her father’s dream😭
Yes, the prince didn’t have any right to kiss Aurora while she was asleep, but without him she would’ve slept for many years more😭
Ariel wasn’t insecure about her tail, she wanted to explore the earth like Jake wanted to explore Pandora, the fact that she fell in love with the prince was just a bonus and another reason for going to earth😭
Belle wasn’t interested in marriage, she said no to Gaston, she sacrificed herself for her father, and in her first days with the beast she even refused to eat with him and she even changed her man in a good way😭

@@Krzzybut we are clearly talking about the Disney version.
I’d just like to say:
Rapunzel wasn’t saved by a man, she bribed him into taking her to see her dream. Her goal was never to find love but she did.
Cinderellas goal was to get out of her shitty household and she wanted to find love (there is nothing wrong with that she can still be a bad bitch and want love)
Snow White was a teenager.
Don’t we all?
all the princesses are badasses fr

Ah someone who has no idea what femininity is talks about femininity you love to see it.....the modern version of a strong woman is a woman who is empowered by her feminine traits
And because of years of sexism you are conditioned to think that most good traits are masculine traits
Like if a woman is confident that's a masculine trait....
It's not erasing femininity it's showing how much of a god dam box concepts like femininity and masculinity are
Modern society operates under the basis
You do something good It's masculine
You do something bad It's feminine

Ariel was confident. She just wanted to explore the world and happened to get a man along her journey
Cinderella wanted to go the ball and unintentionally got the prince to search the whole town to find becuase thats how beutiful she was.
Edit: the sleeping beauty one. they both knew each other before hand and were good friends. That kiss saved her life.
(This is off the movies not the grimms stories)
Facts
Rapunzel and her man both got a healthy asf relationship, and helped her out to get out the tower
Which stories are we talking about? There are many versions. If we're talking about the Grim brothers one, then Sleeping Beauty was raped.
@@SilverSymphony9yeah even tho I’m pretty sure Ryder was in his 20s and rapunzal was 16
@@BearSmoothie hes 27, but Rapunzel was 17. Before your like “PEDO!”
Flynn only kissed her after her birthday.
Rapunzel wanted someone to save her from the castle
Jasmine was middle eastern and being gay there is illegal and Mulan was set all the way in China
The girl from sleeping beauty was named Aurora and the kiss was necessary for her to come back to life
How the FUCK was Ariel supposed to make it to land and meet Eric without fucking feet to walk with
Tiana must've had a big career change in the sequel because last time I checked, she was the owner of a restaurant
And the girl from beuty and the beast was named Belle.
Have you even watched those movies before?
Fun fact. Rapunzel actually wouldn't be able to go anywhere without her hair meaning she'd starve with enough time. Not to mention mother gothel would be the equivalent of an undertale monster after a genocide route

@@spinedotlazuli1120k I said what I said

Rapunzel basically kidnapped Flynn Rider by hitting him with a frying pan, I think she’s badass enough
No ones talking about the fact that if Rapunzel shaved her head she couldn’t escape the tower?
Yessssss
it was bothering me sm 😭
Can people stop hating on the song?!- 😭
It’s literally made because girls are being ab^sed by their boyfriends and husbands every day in different ways
The boys making girls behave like Victorian girls
Not letting the girls have any money
Being mentally and physically ab^sive
And so much more!-
The point of a song doesn't mean it shouldn't be critiqued :p
Comments are just pointing out how Jax took stories of strong female characters who have healthy, loving relationships with their partners, and butchered them in order to make them “stronger.”
Is writing music to encourage women to leave their abusive partners and find confidence within themselves a good thing? Absolutely! Did Jax use *horrible* examples to prove her point? Absolutely!
@@spidertoes28 yeah, I ain’t reading all of that-
@@Soul-the-agere I tried to present a fair argument and your response was to immediately dismiss me. Whatever. Your choice.
This is still a shitty song.
whoever made this song was too busy thinking about the hate for the love stories to actually watch the movies.
@@M1ss.G4cha i’ve listened to the entire song, and unfortunately it’s crap
To be honest most on the song is talking about how shity the world has become
@@Hazbin_hotel_lover938 real
@@Hazbin_hotel_lover938it’s shitty because there are people like the singer who think that even though they live in the greatest country in the world they still find something to complain about. And then they have those people who want to have no pronouns and complain about everything. Why can’t people just be thankful with what they have. If it wasn’t for all the lgbtq rights and women’s rights activists we might actually have a good world again. Nobody is stopping you from doing anything just keep it to yourself
Id love to know
4. Belle? Yeah she didnt need Beast and she could have left when she was given the chance by Mrs. Pot but no, she saw the Beast for who he was and fell in love. The story is about seeing someone for their character instead of appearance
The comment is SO underrated. Your opinion and how you described everything is wonderful. Ty for making me feel better! 💐
She died because people had to bring her food by climbing on the hair
Underrated comment
Very true. @@MADmadelynHEHE
@@MADmadelynHEHEyeah although in the original stories with sleeping beauty the prince graped her
Also, Beauty was the one that made the Beast change for the better, she went there because she wanted to.
@@MADmadelynHEHE So you’d rather sleep for eternity?
I think this song is so stupid. She probably never even watched Princess. People who like this song should open their eyes and see what she did to make it worse.
So belle realizes that she was the beast?! That defeats the entire point of saying “don’t judge a book by its cover” likeeee
Yeee so....she is an evil monster now?
Belle is a furry now guys 😔

But that would still make sense the "don't judge a book by it's cover" would apply to Belle where she looks nice and a literal beauty but instead SHE WAS THE BEAST.
