- Actually, this is an untitled piece composed by Makoto himself (I call it 'Makoto' for reference purposes). If you love music, you won't believe your ears! Enjoy!
[Amazing Piano at 5:35]
wow! musicianship at it's highest. What a treat to hear these 2. I have a couple of cd's of them together and it's great to hear-always!
Two phenomenal musicians - I love these guys.
This was from the late 80s when Makoto was a regular member of the Gary Burton Quartet for six years. Recorded at a European concert.
This must have been at the Berklee Performance Center while Makoto was still just a student. Even as a student he was the talk of Boston. He was a show stealer no matter who he backed. I saw him as part of the backing trio for Dizzy when he came to town and Makoto just stole that show as well. He is such a talent.
oh man, you don't see talent like that...at that age very often. pure Genius through and through.
Wow.
The Vibes is what makes it cuter.
I am their fan.
This is a picture when they are very young !
wow no words.
Man that kills me every time I watch it! I would like to know where to buy that concert video....thanks for posting it!!!
This is "Corea-Graphy".
Makoto composed this.
Nice name. As I write, I see that I am responding to a 10-year-old comment of yours. lol
The name should’ve been «Corea-Garyphy» hehe
You can hear Makoto is majorly influenced by chick both in the composition and playing in this video.
Thank you for posting. And does anyone know if this concert is available on DVD at all? This is priceless!
💛🙄🌾🌱
I wish I could find the DVD of this concert, but, I only lucked into the recording with my old VCR and managed to convert it. I couldn't let it die on the old video tape! I think RUclips blocked me from my page because I posted this (I still don't know). :)
Hi Mike, really appreciate your act of sharing. Just curious, do you still have the name if this concert?
@@lunfardo I never did have the name of the concert... but I believe people have listed it above in the comments.
The refrain sounds a little like "Daahoud" by Clifford Brown+Max Roach
I don't often feel like I need to join in the chorus of wows. But Wow.
I love the guy. Playful. Any idea what year this was. I guess Gary was still on Berklee faculty?
Why does gary always look like he's playing cricket XD
