It's crazy how far we've come in gaming. From basic text adventures many decades ago to now, when we have a major studio creating an entire game for one person.
i’m obsessed with the way andy’s voice cracks with excitement at 8:40 to show jane that you can dress up the tiger cub, and the subsequent “ooooOH my daaays” in response
Yes, hello Sega? I want you to make a game about the solo adventures of Corazón de Ballena. Do so and all your puppies and kittens will be returned unharmed. Oh, and also make it a Like a Dragon. A̶n̶d̶y̶ the mysterious petnapper
Lol thought of Andy's excitement as soon as I saw the trailer for the pirate yakuza game. It's like 2 of his favourite things combined. All that's missing now is a spooky pirate yakuza. Unless the game has pirate ghosts. Pirate yakuza ghosts? Ghost yakuza pirates?
@WavingWorld It's not the exact same. It's very linear in comparison. But it has very similar elements. I also don't listen to IGN reviews. They're all paid off to say whatever. That much is evident with some of the monumental disasters we've been given recently. Indiana Jones comes to mind. That got severely high ratings and it was released severely broken. I don't trust gaming journalists anymore. I'm enjoying it so far. It has both KOA & Dark Souls elements to it, when I started playing it, I felt a nostalgia for Kingdoms of Amalur 💙
@@SMXSmith Okay. So because you had zero issues it means no one else did? I had nothing but issues. Collectibles bugging out, quests glitching, I had to use another GLITCH to get my 1000 gamerscore on it due to it being broken. The reviews for Xbox are mostly negative. People trapped in puzzles. Stuck under the map, you name it. Just because you didn't have issues, doesn't mean everyone else didn't.
@@EncouragedEntityI mean I was on PC so maybe it was different but that sounds like bugs that many other games have launched with because video games aren’t perfect. They are also things that can be fixed. Is the core content of the game pretty good? I think so and the Metacritic user score thinks so. And IGN gave it an 8, if they were paid off, why wouldn’t they give it a 9 or 10? 😂
I am a recent convertee to the series due to Yakuza:LAD, even to the point I got a physical copy of Man who erased his name from Japan. This is my most looked forward to game of the year and thankfully it comes out almost straight away.
10:04 - "Maru" does mean "circle." It's used traditionally as a suffix on ship names (and other things like swords). There are lots of theories as to why "circle" is used for ships. The one I like is that it represents the ship's journey away and then back home, completing the circle.
Me seeing Jason making sure Noah doesn't fall overboard: "Aww, I like him, I think he's going to be my favourite." Me like thirty seconds later, seeing Pirate Queen Michele: "M. Ma'am." 😳
Maru does mean circle, but it's also just a suffix that gets put at the end of ship names, to identify it as a ship name (I don't know why, someone smarter than me in comments might). So basically, he's called the ship something like the "USS Goro" or "HMS Goro", which is very on brand.
@10:05 - Maru means ship - 'Goro Maru' would be 'Goro's ship'/the ship of Goro (as a Star Trek nerd, I know this solely due to the Kobayashi Maru no-win scenario)
Maru does mean "circle." It's also used to evoke feelings of wholeness or completeness, and it's traditionally used for ships for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is to imply a safe voyage back homes, thus completing the circle.
"They made this game in 9 months" They have created more games then most studios this past decade and are STILL cooking a new IP and this. Games do not need to be the biggest or the hundred hour sink of live service garbage to make money. Sell me soul and the fun of immersion and escapism is the pure essence of what makes games so good.
9:10 If this game was made to suit Andy's tastes then I have to admit that I didn't know he was a fan of the Sega Master System- seems he into more than just pirate stuff.
This looks wonderful, but I probably am not capable of playing it. I couldn't get past the first boss of Judgement, and also had trouble killing common enemies on the easiest difficulty in Witcher 3, which suggests I suck at that combat.
Ugh this is the first LAD I won’t be buying. I like these games for their realistic depiction of Japan. I didn’t like going to Hawaii and I definitely don’t like pirates. This is straying too far from what I love about the games.
0:53 Goro Majima and his Kyodai Also small spoilers i imagine But The lady who runs madlantis her Japanese VA also was Goro Majimas Ex Wife from Yakuza 5. While I don't think that was necessarily deliberate I wouldnt be surpised if this game fills us in on like the biggest gap in the story of the Mad Dog. I couldn't do this concisely cause the plot Y5 is insane. Yume. As it's something we really don't know anything else about beyond what she tells Haruka as her Idol Manager. Which was they were married and divorced after she had an abortion without telling him cause it wouldve ended her own career as an idol. Which was already on thin ice cause she was married in her early 20s and secretly korean like everyone in the yakuzaverse. And then never really spoke till the events before Y5 where she booked the Tokyo Dome for Haruka and her main Rivial (a duo) on the Princess League Idol competition as they were always meant to be a supergroup trio. But that never happened cause she was killed and Goro Kidnapped but announced dead and held hostage as otherwise Haruka would be assassinated which would break Kiryu-chan who at this point was just a taxi driver so Haruka could be an Idol as it would be over if people found out her adopted dad was the most legendary modern yakuza the Dragon of Dojima. Of course she reavled that herself in her retirement speech post tokyo dome show but teenagers do dumb shit and she took after her dad in doing dumb shit.
There were obvious seams in the graphics when you turned the camera whilst in the cabin on the ship. Why is it so blurry? Is this playing on Xbox Series S as it looks like a very low resolution for a 2025 AAA release especially. So far the graphics look more like they belong to a game from 2015 not 2025.
Okay Andy we've made the game exactly as you requested, now please let my family go
He's got my family too, man, I haven't seen my mother in days...
like seriously it EVEN has Samoa Joe in it
It's crazy how far we've come in gaming. From basic text adventures many decades ago to now, when we have a major studio creating an entire game for one person.
i’m obsessed with the way andy’s voice cracks with excitement at 8:40 to show jane that you can dress up the tiger cub, and the subsequent “ooooOH my daaays” in response
New Fan Theory... Andy is secretly an eccentric billionaire who bribed Saga to make this game exactly to his specifications. Prove me wrong.
A. Lack of Monkey Island games
B. The WWE games continue to suck
C. The hitman multiplayer not catering to his whims after he got smashed by Mike
Congratulations Andy on purchasing Sega!
That's one way to get your dream game made.
It's legit like they just bundled everything Andy loves into one game and it's awesome lol.
They didn't even bother with coming up with a name, it's just the elevator pitch
I really hope at some point you have to go through a haunted house as a side quest, that would be the absolute cherry on top.
Eh, not enough cowboys.
So they basically made a game for Andy?
This is exactly what I and everyone else thought upon hearing the elevator pitch for this
I’m definitely getting this game
That queen has claw machines with only her figurines installed in her own place.
That's one of the most awesome flex I've ever seen.
It's a _Yakuza_ game where Andy can dress up as a Pirate.
Next you have to make a _Yakuza_ game set in the Old West where Andy can be a cowboy.
Yes, hello Sega? I want you to make a game about the solo adventures of Corazón de Ballena. Do so and all your puppies and kittens will be returned unharmed.
Oh, and also make it a Like a Dragon.
A̶n̶d̶y̶ the mysterious petnapper
The only way this game could be more of a targetted attack on Andy is if Pirate Majima was also a goth cowboy.
Just when I thought I could not love Majima more - I find out he's a cat guy! 🥰
You can hear the glee in Andy's voice throughout the video.
Glad to see his monkeypaw wish for 2025 has had few repercussions... So far.
Goro-ro your boat gently down the stream...
If you see a Kiryu, don't forget to scream
@@stickykeys7413 Kiryu-Chan!
So, Andy wrote the title for this one, huh? Doesn't seem like him to refuse to fight about how great pirates & Like a Dragon are.
To anyone that has never played a Like a Dragon game these seems like the most absurdly silly game ever. To those of us who have, it's just Monday.
I need Majima Mondays when it comes out
So glad someone else was thinking this too! Complete with fashion segments, hopefully : )
@ And a music video to go along with it too
@ Naturally!

I can practically smell the timber on that ship and it's making me very nostalgic.
Let Ellen know if she wants to scratch her Kingdoms of Amalur itch, tell her to play a game called Stray Blade
Colin Moriarty of IGN gave the original KOA a 9/10. Jarrett Green (also IGN) gave Stray Blade a 5/10. D:

Eggs in beer is a known thing actually. They use the egg white to catch impurities so it's easier to filter.
Andy found a genius lamp and next game is probably something like Yakuza Wild Wild West
Andy casually having Kaho Shibuya on his crew 😂
I think this is the most hyped I’ve ever heard Andy in a video, and for good reason

always love like a dragon videos from oxbox!! i hope we see several of this game!
We all know Andy commissioned this game from the shadows but it was truly confirmed for me when the blood bonded ape showed up.
I demand a Andy playthrough

This might be worth buying just to see Majima perform '24 Hr Cinderella' again.
I'm glad i'm not the only one who had that exact thought 🤣
Right now its just a theory but if theyre next game is set in the wild west it proves Andy has probably blackmailed a CEO.
Can we please get a weekly streaming party for this from Andy? Pretty pleeeeaaase?
RGG is one of the few studios that just never misses for me.
Pirate crew member Jason looks like if Luke Danes from Gilmore Girls had taken up street fighting and then joined a pirate ship...
this is some real gaming journalist gameplay right here
Hey, Andy's not playing THAT badly!
Jkjk
I'm so glad they're making games that cater specifically to Andy now
The miracle aqurium was where the circus ringmaster from IW was working during his substory
Me seeing Jason making sure Noah doesn't fall overboard: "Aww, I like him, I think he's going to be my favourite."
Me like thirty seconds later, seeing Pirate Queen Michele: "M. Ma'am." 😳
looks like Andy is sorted for 2025
this game looks like a lot of fun, wonders how many list videos this game will spawn in the name of work
2:21 wait a minute that ape just did a kiryu move, "dragon of apejima"
It would be a sick plot twist if this actually wasn’t an Andy video

Alright Andy you've convinced me
who knew Yakuza would make the follow up to Black Flag we've always wanted.
Real time combat alone makes this game better than the main story
@10:05 - Maru means ship - 'Goro Maru' would be 'Goro's ship'/the ship of Goro (as a Star Trek nerd, I know this solely due to the Kobayashi Maru no-win scenario)

Goro the tiger is your trustworthy partner ‘cause Majimas sworn brother is Taiga
Why would anyone @ you for that? We all knew it would be
I love that Andy is so hyped for this game :)
These games are definitely not for me, but I love how much Andy loves them!
I'm so excited for this game. Samoa Joe being in it really is the cherry on top of a glorious Sundae
It's a shame this game is coming out already in February. What else could there be to look forward to in 2025 if the GOTY drops so early in the year?
As a massive yakuza fan i relate to how excited andy is on a spiritual level
That blocking from behind looks awesome lol
The most Andy game ever?
I can't wait for this. Love this series so much. Great video 😀
I already wishlisted this game, but seeing the giant chimp summon, made me want it more. 🤣👍🏻
I am proud to be as excited as Andy is for this game! MAJIMAAAAAAAAAA!!! 🏴☠
@Me
Dropping a like, but I don't want to get spoiled, so I'm sticking this stream in my "watch later" list.
I haven't watched ANY of Pirate Yakuza until I got to watch Andy discussing it..
You just watch GTA6 go running into 2026. GOTY is already locked in.
Why would anyone @ you, you're just spitting pure facts !

so.. Andy can basically retire after this one ? :D

im sooo ready for this next month!!!
This might be a Yakuza I actually go play myself 🤔
Nobody doing it like RGG doing it.
It's usually only the Like A Dragon games which are turn based, the fighting in the rest of the mainstream Yakuza games play like this one.
13:26 … is that … Luke Danes?? 😂
Next: a viking themed one
@Andy: You re totally right, I need this game
I still dont quiiiiiite get these series', but this one i shall try! Mostly because Andy loves it so much I just believe it has to contain greatness.
I agree Andy
HONESTLY... Game of the Year
Yakuza + Black Flag = GOTY
er no that would be Super Mario Sunshine
So this is the game according to Andy? Unlike the sicko snap Christmas challenge
You can disembark and explore the islands? Already better than AAAA title Skull and Bones
Ugh. So pissed still have 20+ days before I can play
