This song brings a tear to my eye. 2001, in love with a beautiful girl, blasting this song in my car thinking about her. Of course back then i had 12" subs to bump it. So long ago, the girl is long gone, life completely different, and I'm an old man. Life goes so fast. I'm happy I have that memory though.
This song would have sounded good in the 80s, it sounded good when it came out, it sounds good today and I’m certain it will sound good in the future. Truly timeless.
I was 11 when this song came out. I was just starting to appreciate good music at that time. It was a belter of a song back then and still is 23 years later.
I remember seeing Basement Jaxx as a popular remix group when I was little, I guess in America it wasn’t as big as it was in Europe and around the world, i’ve always loved basement Jaxx and I’m 28 right now ❤
The early 2000 house is something truly magnificent, wonderous... No words to describe it. I only wish i was a young adult clubbing then. Being in my thirties sucks in 2020's. No clubs playing music like this. Missed the WHOLE disco house scene.
Dude i remember this music from my childhood but i never knew what it was called until now. I've been binging early 2000's house music now, can't get enough.
Yup. Especially in early 2000's NY, it was really a magical time. Back in the Solid State radio days with dj liquid todd...some.of the best electronica ever.
@@danielscissorhands well I quite enjoyed it so I won't be bringing legal proceedings unless it involves the right to remain funky, and boogie on down!

Was always a song I loved to boogie to in my room. Still is. Was also used at my best friends funeral 20 years ago, the last song they played at the crematorium , he was 19 when he took his life sadly. I can remember smiling and singing along through tears, he was such a ray of sunshine and this song fit him perfectly.
my fiance of 12 years passed away 4 years ago and... my high school love and all my former fallen friends were influenced by my taste in music as a well... this takes me back to that time as well.
This song is great piece of production, but the interlude at 2:16 really takes this song to another level with it's change of pace and rebuilding back to the main hooks.
I can feel the summer in this. It's so warm and happy. I never heard this song when it came out and I feel nostalgic every time. The light is orange, it's 3 PM, it's summer, and it's before 9/11. Fucking perfect.
@Yetoo…agreed! Definitely an amazing time when the world wasn’t full of greedy, selfish narcissists who’ve ruined so much for all! People were actually kind, considerate and just wanted to have a good time and enjoy life! I thank God I was young enough to experience the awesome times of the late 90’s-mid 2000’s b4 the world became what it is today. What a shame! I wish everyone had a chance to experience a world like it was…

I was 20 years old in 2001. For the entirety of the summer of 2001 if I was driving somewhere I had Basement Jaxx's Rooty or Daft Punk's Discovery bumping on the speakers in my piece of junk car. Happier times. I made garbage wages and was a broke af college kid but dang I was happy. Had no idea I was living the best years of my life from 2000 to 2004.
This song kinda reminds me of Britain in the 2000s. The housey/ garage instrumental sound that is huge in England l, the indian themed MV, and then I believe the woman singing is black. There’s a real mix in the presentation in this song which I love and it reflects that mix in the UK cities

I remember when in 2000 or 2001 I would have lunch at 11am, while getting ready to start high school at 12:30pm. While I was having lunch, I'd turn on the TV and watched some music videos. Back then MTV still featured some nice random music videos (the MTV we had was the Mexican one I think). Before a handful of videos, they would introduce them as "MTV buzz" and they'd say something like "this video will be buzzing in your head". Basement Jaxx's Romeo and Bjork's Hidden Place were introduced like that. Lovely year.

The baseline is sampled from The Clash - The Magnificent Seven, which was released in the 80s.
