    Thanks! I bought the battery and some T9000 glue off of eBay coming to under $30. Was able to replace the battery in 30 minutes. The most difficult part was getting the case apart without marking up the plastic. I have spudgers, but ended up resorting to a sharp kitchen knife like another commenter suggested. I heated it with a hairdryer for about 30 seconds while rotating it around. It took a few tries but I was able to get open.

      Sony is fucking atrocious. In no world should it be acceptable for people to spend upwards of $300 for their earbuds to die so fast. I've been using mine for a little over 1 year, never had any issues and the battery on them were amazing, after the latest firmware updates however I've been facing the same issues as all you people. My leaft earbud will go from 100% to 20% in about 2 hours whereas my right earbud will still be at about 80%. I also noticed the left earbud overrheating when charging. This is genuinely unacceptable, and sadly by now the warranty has expired so I can't ask for any replacements. FUCK. SONY.

    Great video, saved my buds. You can put the earbud in a water and heat proof plastic bag and then lower the bud and bag into boiling water for a couple minutes to soften the glue instead of a heat gun. Also the contact cleaner isn't needed to remove the battery glue, just use a razor and go really slow so you don't cut the center contact. After that the glue peeled off easily and I was able to use t9000 and just hold the contact down with finger pressure until it dried.

      I wondered about that myself. I've just replaced the dead OEM cells in my buds. They had 163 hours of use. I had no issue with them until firmware v1.4.2. To replace them I used the same Varta 1254 A3 cells used in this video. It turns out that the Varta 1254 A3 is rated 3.7V, 77mAh (0.2849Wh). With "LDAC/DSEE:Off/NC:On" settings applied the right bud shut off at 4h:57m with 3% still left in the left bud. With those settings Sony rates battery life at "max 5 hours". I'm happy with the swap.

      FYI, I have successfully removed the old battery from my right earbud, replace with new one (same ZeniPower Z55H 3.85v as stock) and closed it up. Its quite the project!! It helps to have a lighted desk magnifier, heat gun, the "right tools", and the proper glue to get this project moving along, and most importantly, patience..For those of you out there that think this is impossible, its not. Just keep working at it "carefully", and try not to use metal tools, use plastic picks and priers, and it will come apart. Use heat sparingly!
      I had 3 cups of coffee before I tackled this project (not recommended to drink coffee before taking this task on), as my hands were shaking the whole time..LOL.

    • @NightWarJET

      If the earphone gets into water or falls, it will also cause heat. Ten minutes is quite short. You can try to change the battery.

      @dac4770 2 года назад +1

      I suggest you ask for a replacement from Sony.
      Mine also had the same problem, battery drain extremely fast and getting hot when charging in the case, it also drained the case's battery down to 0% in less than 6 hours.
      After some research, looks like it may be caused by earlier batch of hardware coupled with a problematic software (firmware version 1.4.2 onward). If those really are the cause, I'm afraid replacing battery would not be able to resolve your issue.

    1. You don't need to remove small ribbon from PCB on battery, just use heat and alcohol, carefully peel off PCB from battery and reuse adhesive (careful in case the battery is swollen as it may blow with heat)
    2. In my experience using B-7000 glue, the repair didn't work long term as there was not enough adhesion and the buds opened over time, i needed to remove the old seal/adhesive (black tacky stuff) and put the glue in its place.
