Japanese Garlic Fried Rice: A Must-Try Recipe!

  • This classic Japanese garlic fried rice is most delicious, quick and easy and must try recipe takes only 20 minutes to prepare.

    Ingredients
    1. Egg 3, beaten
    2. Garlic 10 cloves, minced
    3. Spring onion, sliced
    4. Vegetable oil
    5. Cooked Rice, Japanese Short Grain 2 1/2 Cup (450g), Refrigerated overnight
    6. Salt 1/2 Tsp
    7. Black pepper, crushed - to taste
    For the sauce
    8. Sugar 2 Tbsp
    9. Soy sauce 2 Tbsp
    10. Oyster sauce 1 Tbsp
    11. Fish sauce 2 Tsp
    12. Toasted sesame oil 1 Tbsp
    13. Mirin (Japanese rice wine) 2 Tbsp, optional
    Method
    1. For the sauce, mix all the ingredients in a bowl and keep aside.
    2. Heat a large pan/wok over medium-low heat.
    3. Add 2 Tbsp oil.
    4. Add the minced garlic and sauté until golden brown.
    5. Separate the garlic and discard the oil.
    6. Add another 2 Tbsp oil.
    7. Add the beaten egg.
    8. Swirl the egg and let it coat the sides of the pan/wok.
    9. Start breaking it into small pieces while the egg is half cooked.
    10. Move the egg to one side of the pan.
    11. Turn the heat to high and add another teaspoon of oil.
    12. Add cooked rice and break the clumps with a spatula.
    13. Add salt and black pepper.
    14. Add half of the fried garlic.
    15. First, mix the rice with salt, pepper and fried garlic.
    16. Then mix the egg and stir fry for a minute.
    17. Add the sauce mixture.
    18. Stir cook until the sauce is uniformly coated on the rice.
    19. Add the remaining garlic and the spring onion and stir it.
    20. Done! Serve the fried rice hot!
