  • In this video we work on an interesting application of vibrations which is the design of vibration absorbers. A vibrating system may undergo a resonance or near resonance behavior due to an external harmonic excitation which is harmful for that system. We show that we can design and implement an additional mass-spring system, which is the vibration absorber, into our original vibrating system to mitigate or even remove the resonance behavior of the main system. We prove it based on the forced vibration analysis of two degree of freedom systems that we discussed before, and we find the conditions on the components of the vibration absorber accordingly. Finally, we solve one example on the design of a vibration absorber for the vibration mitigation of a motor with a rotating unbalance rested on fixed-fixed beam support.
