It’s actually a really beautifully-made handbag and at a really good price. Unfortunately, there was just one big dealbreaker that didn’t work for me. I tried this bag at the store and yes my deal breaker too is the weight 😂 I'm a mom of 3. I have scoliosis. So it really matters to me how heavy a bag is coz it will be uncomfy for me. Good that u can return it. Same here i live in Singapore. We walk alot. The leather though is so nice but its heavier compared to the rest
Totally agree that weights need to be in all bag descriptions, new and pre-loved. I have made several mistakes with bag weight and would have been good to know upfront!
Me too! I bought this amazing bag, and then i started carrying it… didn’t take long for me to sell it. This is why I mostly carry backpacks these days.
I have this bag in army green with the snakeskin handles and LOVE it! The black is next up on my list. Yes it can be heavy but it's full leather and suede and great quality so it is going to be on the heavier side and definitely heavier than canvas. Sorry it didn't work for you though! You have to go with what works.
Weight is a HUGE factor for me! There are sooo many bags I think are beautiful and would love to have but I can’t handle the weight. That’s why I prefer LV canvas!
I got this bag along with the Madison pillow bag and I love it! I usually carry so much stuff with me that the weight of the bag doesn’t bother me. I usually walk everywhere or take the subway 👋
Thanks for the video. I don’t like heavy bags but I have made the exception for the Dooney and Bourke Florentine satchel. But I had been in love with that bag for 10 years. This bag is very attractive too.
Thanks for sharing! This is totally fair - I don’t mind a heavier bag, but one thing I like about Speedys is they are light, even leather ones. I’d expect a bag of that style to be lighter so you can fill it up with your stuff comfortably. I’d return it too.
The bag is beautiful 😻 If I didn’t have a speedy 25 I would’ve bought this version. I don’t hold very much in my bags. I don’t have kids so it’s just the essentials

I bought the Ruby, but returned it. Lovely bag. Total quality. Mine said Made in Cambodia. But, trying it out at home it is very heavy. For me, the issue with this bag is it is truly a top handle bag - it is just too bulky to carry crossbody. Also, the strap is kinda stiff and hard. Not the softer pebbled leather. And, carrying on the crook of my arm or by the top handles hurt my forearm and hands due to the weight and hard top handles. I do drive to work, but I still walk several blocks from my parking garage to my office. Just carrying around the house it felt like I was carrying a cement block. Just uncomfortable. Also, in black, kinda a severe looking “doctor” bag. Btw I received my Mothers Day promo gift (perfume) the next day in separate packaging.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I agree, the quality was there - but it was way too heavy. Some bags feel lighter than their weight. The Ruby felt heavier than it’s weight. I don’t know why but the way you describe it as a “cement block” definitely clicks for me. We tried!!
There is also a Signature version of this bag that is made of cotton and has leather trim. That might be lighter! Actually looks super cute. Also, I saw on their website that you can ask questions online so maybe they could give you the weight.
I know this sounds crazy, but if they came out with a size 35 I’d be all over buying it. 25 is too small. Weight doesn’t bother me as much cause every bag I carry is heavy and taken in short distances and I switch to small pochette if I’m going to be walking around. I think I’d even sell my speedy 35 for coach 35.
The weight is a deal breaker for me. I no longer carry many of my beloved vintage coach bags because of the weight. It is the primary reason I finally ordered my LV canvas bags. I did not care at all about the luxury label, but the luxury quality in a really lightweight bag sold me on LV canvas! Between those and Longchamp nylon I've got my bag needs met with no more neck, shoulder and back pain from bags!

It would be nice if it were listed, I agree. Coach has great customer service, they probably know the approximate weight if you called. I can't use heavy bags either!

For me anything even close to 2 lbs is too heavy so the fact that this is OVER 2 lbs I just know I won’t use it. Most of my bags are much lighter. I’m glad yours works well for you though!
I love the design and look of this Coach bag. I agree with your comment - it’s difficult to carry a heavy bag when you walk a lot. That’s why I love my Longchamp bags. Super light and packs a lot!
completely agree on this. the only thing keeping me from buying coach bags is their weight all their bags are heavy. i guess you really get what you pay for. thats also the reason why premium brands are more expensive is their bags are of premium leather but not heavy.
I own the Coach rambler 16 with smooth glove-tanned leather and it’s super lightweight. 🪶 My mom saw mine and asked me to get her one too. 😂 It’s so easy to wear. BUT, I think most of the grained leather bags from a Coach are heavier. Same with Prada… their grained leather bags are really heavy!
Hannah! ♥️The zipper is the thing that was the biggest turn off to me on this. 1. It’s too rough, that’s on every one 2. It cut my hand when I reached in and out And she is heavy! I’m sorry it didn’t work out but at least you’re in the return window. Great video! 💕 Happy Mother’s Day!!
I tried this bag on at the COACH boutique and thought that it was quite heavy too. It is definitely excellent quality but I find that my LV Speedy 25 is much more lightweight and functional for me. Thank you for sharing!
I felt the same way about the Dior saddle bag! I purchased the bag in November 2021 and it has literally been in its box until today. I wish I would've opened it sooner, bc at least I could've gotten my money back. It took me a while but I realized I am not a Dior girl. It's still a beautiful bag just not for me.
Wow it’s such a well made bag with nice details. I don’t walk around as much as you but when I travel or know I’ll be out walking for a while I always grab the lightest bags too, girl gotta carry the water bottle 😂

Yes I’ve had to pass over many beautiful bags due to the weight. This certainly isn’t the first time. But it’s good when we know what works and doesn’t work for us!! 😉

I've seen those purses on other folks sites!!! And it looked heavy with the embellishments! Plus I wouldn't pay $500 for that purse, but it's nice, but not for me either! Happy belated Mothers Day!!!!😊😍😄😉
I seen and tried the bag at the Couch boutique in NYC. I also would not pay $500.00 for the bag. I also noticed it makes indentations the zipper is way to hard for me. I walk a lot and need to be comfortable. Thank you for mentioning this. 😊

Gorgeous bag and I’m sorry it didn’t work! Same here. I can’t deal with a heavy bag. Once you use a feather light Long Champ bag or an LV canvas bag, it’s hard to lug something around…
I love this bag. How it looks and everything. The weight might be a deal breaker.. I might have to check it out at the boutique again. My Speedy B 25 is already heavy when it’s full maybe that’s why I don’t wear it as much as I would like to.. Great info TFS 🧡
If you find the speedy b 25 to be heavy when it’s full, I think you’re going to be surprised by how heavy this Coach one is when it’s empty. I used to have the speedy 25 and it always felt feather light. It’s quite a difference. Hope this is helpful!
So I got this bag in the army green version and while it is gorgeous and I did end up keeping it, I haven't reached for it yet because I go in and out so often and the zipper is a bit rough. Every time I put my hand in, I get scraped. I think it takes some getting used to and some breaking in.
If you take out the clochet and hangtag maybe it will weigh much less if you really like the bag , a lot of people are selling/buying just the clochet and tags to decorate their other bags so you can sell those extra
Definitely to each thier own. Tory Burch has her version of LVs speedy and boite, hers are called the Barrel bag in jacquard monogram and the Moon Bag..much lighter bags. But for me I've passed on so many self coveted bags after actually trying them on in the boutique for being too light weight feeling. You kept saying substantial but that was the correct word, I need that feeling personally lol. I was sold
It’s a really beautiful bag, love feet on a bag. As nice as it is, I tend not to choose my heavier bags when I go out, so heavy bags just end up sitting on my shelf.
This is a gorgeous bag but I unfortunately had returned mine as well. Coach often ships the free gift separately and they typically don’t expect it back if you return this bag. The clochette used to have a key inside when it was first used on the Rogues (1st generation Rogues had locks on them) but now it’s just a decoration piece. I’m glad that you checked this bag out and sorry that it didn’t work out. Most of the bags that I love from Coach (the very popular Rogues) are just too heavy for me so I only admire them from afar now.
Actually I received the complimentary gift with purchase in a separate delivery a few days later! By that point, I had already shipped the bag back so I wasn’t sure what to do. I called Coach customer service asking for a shipping label to return the gift but they told me to just keep it. It’s nice of them.

I didn’t know also that type of leather along with the buckle will be heavy. I also had it exchange. The tag you showed at 4:17 says made in Vietnam! It is interesting that it's not stamped or on a tag inside the bag though.. very pretty bag but I personally think they could've done without some of the non-functional design elements. Those small turnlocks just don't make sense to me 😅
@@mamad5686 I have another Coach bag with the turnlock so I’m aware it’s their signature design BUT the turnlocks on this Coach Ruby satchel do not serve any purpose. They don’t open to anything. So they’re merely embellishments.
I got ruby 25 for work and it's most definitely better made than LV(a sad statement😒). Just by touch quality is really apparent. And many complained about LV can't seem to align the handles symmetrically but I have yet to read anyone complaining same about Ruby. Will you try out the Ruby in 18 size?
So glad you’re happy with your Ruby 25! I agree, Coach quality is 👍. I won’t be getting the Ruby 18 size because I already have the LV Speedy BB in black Lambskin and I adore that bag. I think they’d be two similar to own both! 😉

It's beautiful, absolutely beautiful, but I'm the same: weight is a deal breaker for me. What's the point in owning a bag that is uncomfortable to carry? Coach has a habit of overdoing these details and adding unnecessary ounces 😟 I had to sell a gorgeous whiskey Legacy bag from Coach because it was just unusable (and with no shoulder strap!!).

I’m excited to see the 18 size when it comes out! I probably won’t buy that one though, as I have the speedy bb which is about 19 cm. It would be too similar for me (duplicative) but I think the 18 size will do well with other customers!
Did anyone respond to where is the bag made? I’ve seen a lot of Coach made in China which has deterred me from purchasing. My old coach bags (20 yrs ago) were made in the USA
How much do the strap and charms weigh? Maybe you could use a lighter strap and take the charms off if you really like the bag. I have it and love it but I don’t walk miles a day carrying a purse like you do so it doesn’t feel heavy to me when carrying it for normal stretches of time. Sharing that for those considering this bag who don’t walk long stretches 👍🏻
I’m sure it would be a bit lighter without the leather strap and charms but not sure it would make a huge difference in the end. The bag itself is quite heavy. But if you’re not walking around a lot with your bags, it could still work for you! 😉
Love it and it looks like shch a great alternative for the Speedy. Have you ever tried the Rowan? It looks very similar and I wonder if it would weigh less.
is the LV speedy 25 lighter than this bag? I'm tempted to snag one in damier azur for spring/summer. I am kind of weak so I dont like heavy bags either even if they are top of the line leather etc. I like that the neverfull and faure le page's daily battle remains light unless I stuff it with heavy stuff.

It’s funny you ask about Dooney & Bourke! My mom once gifted me a D&B bag when I started a new job in my early 20s. It was a very grown-up looking bag, if you know what I mean. 😂 It was also quite heavy. Unfortunately I never reached for it and wound up donating it after several years of having it sit in the back of my closet. I always felt guilty about that but for some reason, the bag just didn’t work for me. 😥

Surprised to hear that it is heavier than your birkin. How much does the birkin weigh? The coach website where i live does have the weight information, i’m surprised that the US website does not.
I heard somewhere that coach just makes all their bags in China and they’ve stopped labelling where it’s made. I visited a Coach store recently and while the leather looks very nice, but the thickness made everything feel clunky and coarse, almost like synthetic leather. I guess on the plus side it might hold the shape better?

I have this bag. It’s made in Vietnam. The interior is suede is probably why it’s 2 pounds. it’s a great bag. I love it and carry often.

I seen and tried the bag at the Couch boutique in NYC. I also would not pay $500.00 for the bag. I also noticed it makes indentations the zipper is way to hard for me. I walk a lot and need to be comfortable. Thank you for mentioning this. 😊

Gorgeous bag and I’m sorry it didn’t work! Same here. I can’t deal with a heavy bag. Once you use a feather light Long Champ bag or an LV canvas bag, it’s hard to lug something around…

If you find the speedy b 25 to be heavy when it’s full, I think you’re going to be surprised by how heavy this Coach one is when it’s empty. I used to have the speedy 25 and it always felt feather light. It’s quite a difference. Hope this is helpful!

So I got this bag in the army green version and while it is gorgeous and I did end up keeping it, I haven't reached for it yet because I go in and out so often and the zipper is a bit rough. Every time I put my hand in, I get scraped. I think it takes some getting used to and some breaking in.
If you take out the clochet and hangtag maybe it will weigh much less if you really like the bag , a lot of people are selling/buying just the clochet and tags to decorate their other bags so you can sell those extra

But for me I've passed on so many self coveted bags after actually trying them on in the boutique for being too light weight feeling.

It’s a really beautiful bag, love feet on a bag. As nice as it is, I tend not to choose my heavier bags when I go out, so heavy bags just end up sitting on my shelf.

This is a gorgeous bag but I unfortunately had returned mine as well. Coach often ships the free gift separately and they typically don’t expect it back if you return this bag. The clochette used to have a key inside when it was first used on the Rogues (1st generation Rogues had locks on them) but now it’s just a decoration piece. I’m glad that you checked this bag out and sorry that it didn’t work out. Most of the bags that I love from Coach (the very popular Rogues) are just too heavy for me so I only admire them from afar now.
Actually I received the complimentary gift with purchase in a separate delivery a few days later! By that point, I had already shipped the bag back so I wasn’t sure what to do. I called Coach customer service asking for a shipping label to return the gift but they told me to just keep it. It’s nice of them.

Likewise here. I also order the Chloe Marcie in Black in small(I think, of the same leather with your Coach) and gosh, the bag itself is so heavy. I didn’t know also that type of leather along with the buckle will be heavy. I also had it exchange.

My tolerance for “heavy” is quite low so maybe it’ll work just fine for you!
The tag you showed at 4:17 says made in Vietnam! It is interesting that it's not stamped or on a tag inside the bag though.. very pretty bag but I personally think they could've done without some of the non-functional design elements. Those small turnlocks just don't make sense to me 😅

I got ruby 25 for work and it's most definitely better made than LV(a sad statement😒). Just by touch quality is really apparent. And many complained about LV can't seem to align the handles symmetrically but I have yet to read anyone complaining same about Ruby.

It's beautiful, absolutely beautiful, but I'm the same: weight is a deal breaker for me. What's the point in owning a bag that is uncomfortable to carry? Coach has a habit of overdoing these details and adding unnecessary ounces 😟 I had to sell a gorgeous whiskey Legacy bag from Coach because it was just unusable (and with no shoulder strap!!).
Yeah it’s a bummer. I still love my Coach rambler mini. It’s quite light and simply designed. Too bad they discontinued that one.

What about the Ruby satchel in size 18? It’s coming out later this May. Maybe that might be a better fit for you.
I’m excited to see the 18 size when it comes out! I probably won’t buy that one though, as I have the speedy bb which is about 19 cm. It would be too similar for me (duplicative) but I think the 18 size will do well with other customers!

Did anyone respond to where is the bag made? I’ve seen a lot of Coach made in China which has deterred me from purchasing. My old coach bags (20 yrs ago) were made in the USA
How much do the strap and charms weigh? Maybe you could use a lighter strap and take the charms off if you really like the bag. I have it and love it but I don’t walk miles a day carrying a purse like you do so it doesn’t feel heavy to me when carrying it for normal stretches of time. Sharing that for those considering this bag who don’t walk long stretches 👍🏻
I’m sure it would be a bit lighter without the leather strap and charms but not sure it would make a huge difference in the end. The bag itself is quite heavy. But if you’re not walking around a lot with your bags, it could still work for you! 😉
Love it and it looks like shch a great alternative for the Speedy. Have you ever tried the Rowan? It looks very similar and I wonder if it would weigh less.

I am kind of weak so I dont like heavy bags either even if they are top of the line leather etc. I like that the neverfull and faure le page's daily battle remains light unless I stuff it with heavy stuff.

It’s funny you ask about Dooney & Bourke! My mom once gifted me a D&B bag when I started a new job in my early 20s. It was a very grown-up looking bag, if you know what I mean. 😂 It was also quite heavy. Unfortunately I never reached for it and wound up donating it after several years of having it sit in the back of my closet. I always felt guilty about that but for some reason, the bag just didn’t work for me. 😥

I was surprised too! My Birkin 30 weighs right under 2 lbs so this Coach is definitely heavier.

I heard somewhere that coach just makes all their bags in China and they’ve stopped labelling where it’s made. I visited a Coach store recently and while the leather looks very nice, but the thickness made everything feel clunky and coarse, almost like synthetic leather. I guess on the plus side it might hold the shape better?
