I may or may not have cried while making this video. I wasn't prepared for all the emotions this homemaking conversation evoked. 😭🤍 Tell me...what is your biggest challenge in homemaking & what is your greatest joy? I can't wait to hear your responses! 🤍
I think a lot of Moms feel like you do. We want things to be done right the first time so we do it our selves and then get upset when our husband or children dont help.😊🤔 But I will share that I am a "empty nester" my daughter is grown and has her own life, and I love how you said if there is no mess it means your house is empty. Never forget they are watching you and learning. Enjoy everyday my friend. You are a good Mom!😊❤
I'm a mom of 3 with a long empty nest. I felt the se way as you..but they are soaking in more than you realize. God bless you! It's so busy and overwhelming while you raise them..and now for me..too quiet!!
When I married my late husband (he passed in 2008), he was my 3rd husband and I was his 2nd wife. One evening he was watching T.V. and I was reading. I paused for a moment and looked at him. He was just looking around the living room and I ask what he was doing. This was his reply...."I was just looking at all you have done to change my life. Before you became my wife this was just a house and then you came into it and made it a home". It still brings tears to my eyes and is by far the highest compliment anyone has ever paid to me. I miss him every day, but I also feel his presence every day in the home I made for him.
I was blessed, encouraged and motivated through your video. As a Christian homemaker, housewife, stay at home mom and everything that comes with it. I need reminder of what a blessing it is.
Jen, this was a beautiful and raw video for all mamas to listen to. You are so precious! I am 59 years old and have 3 adult kids still at home and if they choose to stay home until they get married then there presents a whole new set of challenges as parents! Where to remain the parent but walk more equally together as adults. Even requiring helping financially at home! They don’t pay ‘rent’ because we share a home together but all my participate in so many aspects of home. At this stage, for me, I thought I would be a lonely empty nester but Abba decided a different plan! After devoting 21 years to homeschooling my 4 I already suffered worse than I thought when they graduated. But once again home seems to consume us mamas with it’s never ending constant chores! I do long for a little more time to craft and DIY because it is so relaxing to me but I am still enjoying my home full of a retired hubby, two adult working sons and a 23 yo daughter. My daughter and I just found out this year that we are autistic 😱! She got an official diagnosis but I didn’t need one. I took all the testing silently with her and that was all the confirmation I needed. It answered SO many questions for me about why I think and do things the way I do! Autistic girls often have strong passions for things and being a wife/mother/homemaker for me was exactly what you said! It is what I have always wanted most! Thank you for this video. I am going to watch it again before bed and send up lots of prayers and encouragement for you, dear!🙏❤️
Thank you for sharing your thoughts & for watching! 🤍 I'm so glad you were able to find answers. Each new season has its challenges, but nothing we can't navigate & learn through. Bless you. 🤍
I 💯 percent agree!!! I got married at 16, I have 3 grown kids and one still at home. The hardest thing for me is not waiting on my kids. My youngest will be like mom you make the best sandwich!! If we don't teach them to be successful then they will struggle and that is the hardest part!! You're doing great!! One day at a time:)
Very good video and point of view. I knew I wanted to be a mom at six years old.. and homemaking was something dear to my heart even then. It’s what I do now and I do love it but sometimes it is hard and I wish my grown children would do more than what they do but Ik God is helping me and I’m so blessed
Beautiful and lovely tribute to motherhood/homemaking. It made mw want to cry .... remembering when my children were small and under foot! Sometimes I wish i coulf go back and do it all over again. I miss those years so much, more so since losing my youngest daughter. Life is so precious and what a blessing and a miracle Father gave us; women to become Mothers. Thank you for sharing you raw and heartfelt feelings! Hugs
This video made me so emotional. I do have days where I forget to appreciate my family and my home. This too was something I prayed for and wanted for many years. Now after just a year and four months of marriage I feel overwhelmed everyday with all that gets left undone every night. You've lifted my spirits and reminded me it's not about getting it done but about who I'm doing it for. My husband and daughter are my world and I too am SO blessed!
I just stumbled upon this video and felt compelled to comment, which is something I rarely do. I want to say I get it! I totally understand what you are saying and feeling!! I haven’t taught my children how to keep a home, and it’s partly because it’s easier to do it my self, and I enjoy doing it. But in the long run, I’m not doing my children any favours. I’m resolving in this moment to address this while I still have a bit of time. My daughter is 20 and not at home any more, but my two boys (17 & 14) there’s still time to teach them, and that’s exactly what I’m going to start doing! God bless you for your inspiring message 🙏
Thank you so much for sharing this. All of heart felt words of the love of family and homemaking. I don't feel like I am alone in thoughts about teaching my children. All the things you've said were so true, it's hard letting go and let them learn and all the why's that they do or don't but like you said at the end of day We Are Blessed to have a Family to love, a home to build and a beautiful life to have. God bless you!
This spoke to this mama’s heart so much. I am so much the same. My boys are 20&21 and my oldest is married and I wish so much I had let them do more even if it wasn’t done right. I wanted them to be taken care of, but I missed the chance to teach them to do it for themselves. I need to work on this with my youngest while he is still home. ❤😢
Momma's are learning to be just as much as our children are. There is such a balance with it all. Thank you for sharing. We're all just trying to do our best & that's what matters most. Bless you, Momma. 🤍
Hey there! Thank you so much for this heartfelt video and look into your home. It’s so evident to see your heart and Love of Our Amazing God is there. What a blessing you are ❤️ Your home is absolutely beautiful! I’ve been overwhelmed with housekeeping and all the work involved,as you said it’s Never done!😅 But you have reminded me what a privilege and honour I have to serve my family and make home a haven of rest for them.❤️ Thank you for this beautiful reminder!
My mistake was that I spoiled my boys and made my girl help and by never having to do housework they didn’t really learn how to appreciate a clean environment. If I would have known that they would still be at home well into their twenties I would have done things a little differently but I love them so much ❤
Outside my kitchen sink window I put messages on my outside tree to remind me when i look up to Bless my mess & not to curse over them while i do the chore that i big time dread....one says if it doesn't challenge you it doesn't change you...bibe verses etc. I don't have a dish washer too, I sure do want one but it's not my season for it or I'd have it. Thanks for your video! God bless you 😇
I understand all the feelings. I'm an empty nester. I have one son who's married and he and his wife have given me the best granddaughter in the world. My other son will be married in October. They have learned so much from their parents that I get emotional as I watch them
I found your video so raw and heart felt. You really touched my heart. I was married at 21 and I always wanted to be a housewife. I was made fun of this because everyone at our school had dreams of big executives job. I attended a private school for girls and the vast majority become Doctors, attorneys and that sort of thing. I am older than you, I turned 60 this June and I am in a different stage or chapter of my life than you are. I miss hearing my children talking and laughing but again I’m enjoying this chapter. While the life we live as moms and housewives can be a joy, it does have challenges and moments. Just like everything. For instance, my 97 year mother in law fell down this past week. She was on the floor for 14 hours because she didn’t want to press her medic alert button. She knew it would change her life. She’s always been independent and lived on her own since her husband passed. Now in a few months she will come to move in with us. I told her not to be sad, it’s just another chapter in the book of her life. One day your home will be even more filled with Grandchildren and Daughter in laws and son in laws. We never know the end of the story till it ends. ~ Janet 😘
Oh, Janet! I'm so sorry about your MIL. How blessed you are to honor her by caring for her. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, for the encouragement & for watching. 🤍🎇 Bless you. 🙏🏼
Jen… this video touched my heart. You are such a good Mother and wife. Proverbs 31 I remember the days when I was experiencing just what you are. My children are grown now. Embrace it all. They grow up so fast. I did work outside the home and it was all hard to keep up with, but we made it. Now, I love having a cozy home for them to come to and enjoy Momma’s cooking. 😉 You are teaching your kids more than you realize. They see all you do and call you “blessed”. You have a sweet spirit and kind heart. Keep up the good work, my friend. Especially raising them to love Jesus. 🤍✝️
Sweetie go ahead and cry its because you love and care for your family. Continue doing what you are doing with your children it is a blessing that they have you
I know exactly how you feel. I went through that. It's hard to let your children do things that you normally do everyday. I had a son. But one thing I don't have to worry, he knows how to cook. They learn from watching when we're not looking. When my son was home I didn't have the time or patience that I do today with my granddaughter. I think it is normal. We are so busy raising our children it's hard to stop and try to show them. Now that I have a granddaughter, I have more patience and want to teach her. You're very good mother so don't ever be down on yourself. And you're right, a woman's work is never done. Hang in there my friend. Love you and your videos!! God bless you sweetie!!😊

I speak from experience bc I've spent my life blaming myself for everything - including the rain :) Have a family meeting and make sure everyone knows they are part of something bigger - the family - and they have a responsibility to help it thrive. It was a good thing, bc life as I knew it ended when I was 17. I have never been sorry that I knew how to look after myself and others. You look after them, but whose looking after you?
Wow! Sis, thank you for sharing your real and raw feelings and emotions. So many times we as mommas and women are very hard on ourselves. We always see all our “flaws” or the things we see ourselves missing. Well, the truth is we ALL do it. From my perspective, your “messy” house at the beginning of the video was an easy day at mine! The point is, you have your priorities correct. Jesus first and then family. As long as every day you show Jesus and love your family, the dirty dishes or dirty shoes don’t really matter. Please know you are not alone. Thank you for being willing to share. Are y’all Pentecostal?
