When we perfected making the disc, and trying all types of plastics. We just put the inter layer in the press 24 at a time cycles in 6 seconds and there they were . At first we ran hundreds of sample discs, with out inserts for the company to pick out the plastic they wanted. Then they had us perfect the insert process in the press. Once they were happy the took it all away. A year later the CDrom hit the market. We never knew what we were developing , we were a plastic injection firm.
Richard O'connor that is cool job you got frend.I dont know haw disk is make, but from 42 disk,i got 0,2 gram pyre silver,sou.....somvere in the proces somebodi drop some silver in that disk :)
I always wondered how much silver there was in the old discs. Thanks very much for the information. Once silver gets to its rightful $100 a gram, then that recovery would be a worthwhile thing to do for the approximately 50 cents a disc.
You are right, I also hope that the price of silver will jump in the future, because the current s is out of the ordinary, that sucks. For now, this is just a fun video showing that it has silver and it can be taken out. It may become profitable in the future . 100 discs-0,5 gram silver, not god yeild, but who knows-one day!?
I help make th first CDs, we first inserted the write layer was inside the polycarbate is was a ink on a film. No PMG, was used in those. Later on the printed music CD came out with the film just sealed to the outer layer of the disc. The CDRW, dark color disc , blue or black that is a ink. So not sure anything in there. Hope this help.
Sliver is the mirror reflector. We never knew what was in the reflector layer and only used them one day to perfect the process for the company. I am in a wheel chair now, that job was back in 1990. I urban mine, I strip my hold off PCB using vinegar and hydrogen peroxyide.

Your a urban miner you just live away from the city. Used to get 20-24 PC an hour driving around on trash days. Good old days, mother broad on real goods systems were made with gold trace. I knee this because I had training in PBC development my Aunt makes them every day. Less and less is used. Ne real carefull with that silver nitrate. There is reverse eletro plating to refine silver. I use it for gold a lot. You missed the days of $300 dollars of recovered gold obscure PC, but gold was $1800
Unfortunately in my country, we have not yet achieved this consumer standard to find Pc and other electronics alongside the road in large quantities.I live 20 kilometers from the city, but all the time since I'm dealing with this, I picked up a onley few things.Buger :D
Yes i play Skyrim, but believe me that I have not finished it yet, I did not play it for a year, so much work and obligation not to come, and until two years ago I was a stubborn gamer. I'm a big fan of S.T.A.K.E.R. games, it attracted me to Skyrim, because it has the option of playing from the first person that is excellent for me. This is Skyrim-The Elder Scrols :)
I buy silver "lots" of silver, I don't think its labor friendly, we know tons go to landfills, on a global scale its a "magnitude" of precious metals lost, one day someone somewhere will figure out how to separate elements from each other and then put them back in its original form but do this on a massive scale, we're going to have to do something eventually because we are wasting fine resources vital for our existence on this blue ball we live on, in a way our planet is the biggest chunk of precious metals at our disposal..
Not even so much to my friend. However, I hope that in the future, the price of silver will drastically go up, in order to slowly kill paper money in the world and switch to electronic version money and other versions, I believe that people will keep their money and savings in precious metals more and more. When this is done, and the price of silver drastically jumps, I hope this procedure will be profitable. For now, it's just for testing and showing that silver is part of the Cd and DvD discs.
Thank you so much I have been trying to get a clear CD for hours and finally watched this video to know that you can split them in half. Thank you!
Dude my life will never be the same again....never ever will i throw away another cd or dvd. This is Awesome!
I myself do not even throw them, even though it takes 100 pieces per gram of silver.Thanx bro :)

A hundred cds per gram? How long would it take to do a hundred? Is there a way to do more at once?

Hello can you show me how to wrapp and shipp a big compact?
Ty
Great videos as always. Next time try putting the slice in the DVD. Then use a air gun and blow the foils right off. Caution wear safety glasses
So first we remove the coverage that has plastic and then it is processed, the pure disk or also the coverage that we remove is processed?
Is it pure silver on the plastic??
Have a GREAT Day!!!
6000 discs per troy ounce. Silver is considered non-recoverable for a reason. You will spend more in time and resources than it is worth.
He already said it was for demonstration purposes.🤷♀️
unless you make money from the turning the plastic into oil
I like your way my brother but their is a simple way of using raiser and pealing the CD than using the tape. Thank you for teaching us this!
Teddy Syume There are many ways, this is just one, I'm glad you like it.
Do you have a tutorial video. N lists of exactly what is needed. I'd definitely like to try this.

How can I extract Silver from CD???
You only need Nitric acid. But if you think better, the amount of acid you will consume will cost you more than the amount of silver you get.

Dado Chahra :)
You should try boiling the discs. It is easier.

Can i do it with all kinds of CD's ?
Yes, but there are about 5% of cd-s that will be difficult to remove and which silver contains aluminum, especially newer models.
So you recovered aluminium thinking it was silver???
I worked at a cd mfg co. Your waisting your time because it is aluminium on disks now not silver.
By the way I see you play Skyrim awesome game! You play ESO by any chance?

How silver is obtained from CD
Since the bar,CD was submerged in Nitric acid and then silver is precipitated with a solution of water and a kitchen salt.
So that's how you remove scratches from cd's.
Jinxzork yeap, It's easy.

I guess if you dont have a job and have plenty of time on you hands. This would be a good way to kill time and make some money to.
Timothy S Pumphrey Yes, you are right. Although I personally have a job, this comes to me as a pleasure, to experiment with different materials.

Cool mate :)
But beware, it takes about 100 cd per gram of silver so that the process itself can not be profitable in the money !
