I'm just going to go on and say that Iverson's crossover is unteachable, in my opinion! He was getting fooled in practice by his own teammate at Georgetown, Dean Berry with that crossover. But Iverson kept working and made it his own! It is based more off quickness, instinct, and just plain confidence that you know in your mind and heart that you are about to cross up this defender! Let's not forget that Iverson was just a RAW talent. He was so quick that if the defender even leaned slightly to one side, the defender was done and AI was on his way to the rack for a layup, dunk, or pull up jumper! Everyone in the league had their own crossover style ( Hardaway, Shamgod, etc.) but Iverson's was so cold he had NBA refs starting to call it a carry because of how effective it was at the next level! But shout out to Tyler Relph, you are definitely doing your thing! Much love and respect!

See a lot of people hating. I’ve been trying to learn this crossover for years and although his doesn’t look similar, teaching wise it’s the best ones I’ve seen. Of course tailor the crossover more to yourself, some people are more upright dribblers whereas Iverson was a low dribbler.

There definitely are a few ways , Tyler lead with a skip more and is a bit of a faster dribbler , Ali’s way drops that lead leg back and explodes to a stop while the ball comes back in a circular motion . But he leads with the drop of right leg jab low hard left leg , then cross slight circular motion rounding off everything except the jab of that left foot !

Your cross over should be dependent on the defenders ability. A very athletic guy will need more of a fake to cross him. A weak defender only take a simple cross opposite the direction you want him to think you are going. Keep it simple because finishing at the basket is the hard part.

Such a big part of AI's cross, especially against better guard athletes, was that he glided laterally first off of a between dribble to the left...gliding outside of the defenders hips while hanging the ball a bit. This threatened a blow-by on the left, forced the defender to move with him and then he'd do his move and go right. While AI could do his cross without the glide (on weaker athletes), he was a freak athlete and could just "out-quick" most anyone. But against better athletes (which is way more applicable to general hoopers), he relied on a lateral "glide to side" to set it up and force the defender to commit to moving left a bit. Without that, this is just another shifty cross that doesn't force the defender to actually commit to one side or the other. Maybe if you are wicked, wicked fast its great...but for the rest, I think it's missing AI's magic.
Play this at .25 playback speed and you see the real thing: ruclips.net/video/00eLhSDw62Y/видео.html

Or you can watch the Reebok Allen iverson crossover commercial for a step by step breakdown of how he actually does it. The skip at the beginning is unnecessary if you got rhythm. To me the rhythm is more important than the skip. No one dribbles that hard when they play. It wastes too much energy. Just my opinion.

Not quit the same because Iverson dont purpost to first skip out side but this coach got his nice body balance so it killer move too but anyway this his set up is a bit too hard and a bit off so his student cant copy his teach. Iverson crossover is purposely aim for a second skip to create explosive angle. A first skip out side and then second skip outside made less angle and less explosive that why his student cant made it like him.

Wrong!! The key to the cross is to always have ur head and shoulder opposite ball and to have a strong lean doing this. If I have the ball in my left and my head and shoulder are on the right leaning that way before I cross from left to right my head and right shoulder will go from right to left at the same time im going left to right from the basketball if that makes sense. Everyone knows that one guy who's crossover is unstoppable and this is how u do it fr fr.
