Decided to finally upgrade it last week and bought RX 6700 XT and a 750w fully modular PCU. The games look great on my 1440p monitor, the problem is, it’s most definitely bottlenecked FR wise by my CPU, which I can’t upgrade until I buy a new motherboard along with a cooler. Had no idea how confusing this desktop business actually is.. and also how expensive, but after getting over the shock of needing to de-wire and then re-wire the entire computer because of someone’s idea of good cable management while changing the PCU, I realised how much I enjoyed the challenge. Now, instead of being angry that they essentially filled my computer up with completely obsolete parts (even for two years ago) with some parts that were actually a worse version of what I paid for (PCU was meant to be a 550, I found a 450 in it) I seem to have found a new hobby, and I’m really looking forward to upgrading and learning more about gaming desktops. Love the build. I am doing an AM4 upgrade to a 5800X3D and RX 6800XT. All I need do is pop those right into my existing 3 year old AM4 build and it would beat the pants off your totally new build for far less money. That 3D V-cache CPU will go far in keeping a DDR4 build relevant in top level gaming for years. If you own an AM4 build and want 4-5 years more, get a 5800X3D.
Love the TD500 Mesh case - such a great balance of price to perf! And 360mm cooler support in the roof AMD 6000 series is getting nice 'n' spicy now - Can get RX 6750XTs for under £400 now easily
This is essentially exactly what I’ve had in mind for a build. It’s good to see some real world results. Hopefully this GPU madness continues to get better so I can get a flagship 7,000 series card for under $500 and have a good 5-6 years of use without having to do a big overhaul. I’ll probably splurge for a PCIe 5.0 motherboard just to save myself some trouble down the road.
Love your work, I have built a similar PC. Once it's turned on the VGA red light was on. I noticed it was also the same in your build how did you manage to get rid of it?

If you need to play in ultra with 100+fps, it ain't it chief. But If you can crank the settings down to high, it will be just fine . I currently own a 6950XT and even that doesn't give consistent 100+ FPS in ultra in newer releases without fsr/fsr2.0.
@@davidchatterley1766 you can't say a card is perfect at a certain resolution, as games get more and more demanding the GPU in question will be worse and worse. For the very long term(5+ years) I would much rather have a 6800XT for 1440p rather than 6700XT
I've used both Nvidia and Radeon GPUs and fsr 2.1 has given me the same performance as dlss. So I think the excuse of using Nvidia because of the dlss is no longer a valid excuse. I'm not impressed with Nvidia anymore. My XfX merc 7900xtx is running insane fps and quality. I chose to run full and and I'm glad I did so.
Was looking at this built my self, but totally disappointing can't run 4K at 60fps at least. Not sure if the graphics look so shitty because of the screen recording, but this is no sharp image. My old rig from 2009 looks the same if it can run it. Turns out I need Intel CPU & GPU and prices are ridiculous. This is a such turn-off. Might as well give up on gaming.
Why are you paring a 7 7700 with a rx6700? Wouldn't the BEST VALUE for a gaming pc be to lower the CPU (5600/5600x/12400) and invest in a better GPU (6700x/6750/6800/6800x)? I didn't run benchmarks but it seems that kind of CPU would only be justified in video editing or other sort of work with intensive CPU usage, not really for gaming. Any help or insight would be appreciated.
Probably because the 7700 is the newer more interesting part (the 5600 was featured or talked about on this channel hundrets of times) and also because its quite a bit faster at 2023 titles.

im using a powercolor 6700 xt, my question is: does it matter what manufacturor of the card you use? The price varies so much between the different manufacturors on the rx 6700 xt and i bought the cheapest one in powercolor. Will the other manufacturor be much better in performance?

This build video went in my favs for reference when I'm ready to build. I like it, mostly. And I see what you're trying to show with a well matched, mid price range build. I had been leaning toward an AM5 platform build with a 780OX3D to start, and maybe a 4080. But the 7800X3D is almost double the watts of a 7700. It seems as though every build with the latest gen mid to high end CPUs, as well as the other components like a GPU that pairs well with said CPU, simply generates too much heat and really should be using an AIO at minimum. And, being a big believer in K.I.S.S. that's a problem, as I'm kinda sold on a Fractal Torrent mid tower because of its very good thermal performance for air cooling, in addition to its looks. I know there are air coolers that will work with a 120 watt CPU, but I don't want the case cooling to be hovering near the top end of acceptable temps during normal operation either. Thanks for a video with valuable food for thought!
AIO vs Air. (Start the flamers) I prefer Air usually the Deepcool Ak400 or higher (still love the Gammix 400 V2 Blue LED) for about 24 to 35USD. A 240rad will set you back 100+USD for a good one. With air only the fan will fail. That is a cheap replacement. AIO the pump fair or leaks(super rare or you punctured it) and you have to buy whole new one.

Would you recommend AM4 still for a mid range build for a 6700xt? I wanna go for a 5600x cpu will this be fine for a few years or would I at least need a 5800 x?
5600x performs about the same as a 5800x in games. i would go with a 7600x; yes you will spend more on mobo + ram on top of the cpu price hike, but you get an upgrade path and substantially more performance
That is the cooler I use, it’s awesome, in games my 13500 doesn’t get over 56-58 degrees and since I never turn off my pc I’m mining with the cpu and gpu and the highest cpu temp ever got is 63 degrees, love it!
Putting these parts into pc part picker gives an estimate of about 400w, so while I agree 400w is less than 500w, the benefit of some headroom, outweighs the marginal cost. You could add more storage, turn PBO on, GPU overclock.

ive said it before... and ill say it again.... why are we still running 80 fps on 1440? shouldnt we be getting like 200 plus... or are they just going to keep string us along at 80 just cuz?
Im in Texas, USA. With this build which Im interested in, I might put this on a side for future reference. So far as I look over the more components section, it's about 1350 lb in British currency but Im not sure about the British tax involved in this build. So I converted to US dollar before tax to be around $1690 + and -. Given the texas tax rate of 8.25%, the total amount will be $1830 + and -. This will be a wait and see as computer components will be cheaper later on.
In Texas just bought that cpu the cooler motherboard and ram re using my case and I bought the gpu a while back here what I just spent on was 760 some dollars and the gpu ran me about 350 from Best Buy like 2 months ago that’s price without paying for case psu and m.2
which cpu would yall recommend for someone who wants good gaming performance, but also runs programms like photoshop, illustrator and (potentially) some video editing programme? i'm currently considering the i5-13400F but i'm new to pc building and not entirely sure if that one is good.
Hey, just a question for whoever knows a bit 😬 So i have a ryzen 9 3900x 3.8Ghz with a 2070 super 8gb, i really want to play max fps in cod right now. What graphic card do you recommend me to upgrade? I don't think is worth to go for a 4080-90 since they are extremely expensive. Someone have any idea what would be the best option with this cpu? 🙌🏼😊
@PCCentric Can we have a video, for the highest 1080p CPU and GPU that would be worth spending, before you go to far, (possibly, obsolete) With Ray tracing too. Hogwarts legacy and cyber punk included in benchmarks. Between 60 FPS and +120 FPS. A response would be greatly appreciated too, if a video isn’t possible.
Do you think the stock cooler for the R7 7700 good enough? I don't really want to buy a custom one since I'm planning to upgrade to a X3D in the future, so I have to get a AIO/air cooler at that time as well.. I figure I'll stick with 7700's stock cooler for now. I do more than just gaming so I've no choice but to go nvidia as well, and since I don't like spending that much, I probably will go with 4070.
considering a few bucks extra, would a ddr5 with 6000mhz be better for the CPU ? I see a lot of people say that 6000 is the "sweet spot" according to AMD?
I have a rig almost identical to this but with DDR5 6000mhz, after setting expo to allow my ram to work at its full capacity I gained about 10-15FPS gaming at 1080p ultra settings over the 4800mhz it originally was set at.
Just get a better GPU bro that 6700xt is not amazing for pushing high FPS in 1440p. You can go down the AM4 route and get yourself a 5800x3D for less price and the cost of the whole bouild as whole will fall. You can then uprage to a 6800/XT with the leftover

Morpheus chose a wrong pill for Neo - an hour fishing for shrimp would turn his world upside down. God created Earth in 6 days and spent the 7th day chopping yew trees in Runescape and I don't blame him, it's that good. Legit a game people are sleeping on. Give it a year or two and Runescape 3 will be the pinnacle choice for benchmarking and PC Centric's about to become the Neil Armstrong of making the first step into the world of innovation.
Love this pc!! Keep it up
Seems like NVME drives are getting to be really good deals. Power supplies, cases, MoBos, CPUs and GPUs are pricey. Then the DDR4 is really cheap now. Previous gen AM4 some good deals can be had. I did luck out and get an ASUS Tuf gaming headset on sale $20 Canadian normally $60 a month or so ago.
Another great video mate! Could you maybe consider doing a video on the best PC parts for a content creator PC for different budget. So a PC aimed both at productivity (video editing) and gaming.
I have an R7 5800X with an ROG Strix X570E Gaming Mobo, with 64GB Hyper X Fury DDR4 3733 Mhz, RTX 3080 and 2 x 2 TB Gen 4 NVMe drives and use it for gaming and productivity, specifically went with the 5800x over the 5800x 3D for productivity and for me it's the perfect build - Running an Arctic Freezer 360 RGB AIO and it idles at 35 centigrade and under load (Cinebench R23) maxes out at 72 degrees centigrade
Also running 2 x Gigabyte M28U 4K monitors off that
@@stuarthepburn6508 I have a similar spec PC as you do but it struggles with video editing because I make my videos in 4k so I want to see what other people would recommend for when I get chance to upgrade
im building my first pc soon! im so excited lol
Good luck i built my first pc 3 years ago
If you have modual cables, do them before the cooler is on and the mobo is in the case, getting at that top left corner CPU port is tricky otherwise.
@@daunted2322 thanks for the tip :)
I pair the 7700 with a 3070 ti, it absolute slays
No es mejor AMD que RTX?
Love the build. I am doing an AM4 upgrade to a 5800X3D and RX 6800XT. All I need do is pop those right into my existing 3 year old AM4 build and it would beat the pants off your totally new build for far less money. That 3D V-cache CPU will go far in keeping a DDR4 build relevant in top level gaming for years. If you own an AM4 build and want 4-5 years more, get a 5800X3D.
Highly agree
Love the TD500 Mesh case - such a great balance of price to perf! And 360mm cooler support in the roof
AMD 6000 series is getting nice 'n' spicy now - Can get RX 6750XTs for under £400 now easily
I like this video presentation, I'm planning to have my pc build with the specs presented here.
About to upgrade my 3700x to 7700x. Keeping my 6700xt since there should be a significant upgrade in fps and the overall performance.
For 1080P gaming the 6700XT is a great card. Not so sure about 1440P though. That said, I just ordered a XFX 6700XT and should have it in 5 days or so. I currently use a RX-580,
It does better then 8gb cards in 1440p these days
If you need to play in ultra with 100+fps, it ain't it chief. But If you can crank the settings down to high, it will be just fine . I currently own a 6950XT and even that doesn't give consistent 100+ FPS in ultra in newer releases without fsr/fsr2.0.
It’s literally a 1440p card than runs it perfect he’s shown this before…4k it struggles but can run certain titles…
@@davidchatterley1766 you can't say a card is perfect at a certain resolution, as games get more and more demanding the GPU in question will be worse and worse. For the very long term(5+ years) I would much rather have a 6800XT for 1440p rather than 6700XT
@@Arsoonist for long term you’d want a 7000 series considering….but for right now it is so….
I have the very same case and i love it, looks neat and is pretty silent
I've used both Nvidia and Radeon GPUs and fsr 2.1 has given me the same performance as dlss. So I think the excuse of using Nvidia because of the dlss is no longer a valid excuse. I'm not impressed with Nvidia anymore. My XfX merc 7900xtx is running insane fps and quality. I chose to run full and and I'm glad I did so.
DLSS is way superior but I prefer raw rasterization over upscaling and AMD offer that over their Nvidia equivalents.
Hey, when are you uploading the June /July build video ? 😀 looking to build but want the updated info before I start to make the right choices ❤
Looks great, how much does this setup cost in total?
i bought the 7700, saved money on cpu cooler cause it has a stock and saved money buying the none x which went to my gpu.. happy man i am

What yall think ?
Why are you paring a 7 7700 with a rx6700? Wouldn't the BEST VALUE for a gaming pc be to lower the CPU (5600/5600x/12400) and invest in a better GPU (6700x/6750/6800/6800x)? I didn't run benchmarks but it seems that kind of CPU would only be justified in video editing or other sort of work with intensive CPU usage, not really for gaming.
Any help or insight would be appreciated.
Probably because the 7700 is the newer more interesting part (the 5600 was featured or talked about on this channel hundrets of times) and also because its quite a bit faster at 2023 titles.
i juts upgraded from 2700x to 5700x and im very gratefull its a good cpu and i use the same cooler as u,be quiet its just perfect, about the rtx 3060 i have i want to upgrade that but idk what to choose
Hi I’ve built this exact pc looking to upgrade the graphics card any ideas ??
@PC Centric what mouse are you using in this video?
I just looked up how fast the 7700 is compared to my 5600X and it is almost identical
Did not expect that
you could easily get a 12600kf for $200-$260 and use the extra budget on a RX 6800XT if possible
And four months later, the 12600k is 178 bucks. And DDR5 mobos are now cheaper than their DDR4 counterparts which helps offset the cost of the DDR5 ram.
im using a powercolor 6700 xt, my question is: does it matter what manufacturor of the card you use? The price varies so much between the different manufacturors on the rx 6700 xt and i bought the cheapest one in powercolor. Will the other manufacturor be much better in performance?
Hard to say. There are always lemons out there no matter the manufacturer. I wouldn’t worry about it. Enjoy the card! 😁
@@DisposableSupervillainHenchman I see, why is there such a vast difference in price if the performance is not all that different?
@@VenexoGamingfancy rgb increases the price
Here's a 100$ different between a rx 6700 xt without rgb and a rx with rgb
Excuse my lack of knowledge but could you upgrade CPU to an Intel i5 13600k?? If so would it see any improvement in performance?
No you cannot install a 13600k on this motherboard and it would not be an upgrade at all outside of having more cores for productivity tasks
I have the gaming X 3060Ti paired with an i5 11400f and 16 gigs😁😁,...opposite side of team red
I have an 11600k and a 3080 and i sit back and laugh at all these "team red" fan boys thinking that their gpu has 16gb of vram so it automatically is better than almost all nvidia cards lmao. they are delusional af
The 7800x3d 120w tdp is kinda deceiving. Apparently its one of the most efficient cpus on the market rn
I went cheaper on cpu for my son's pc, 5600x-$166. It's been perfect so far. Put a great budget pc together for him.
are these parts all compatible with the corsair 4000D case?

@@retyurtt9962 yeah I get that but I’m working on a budget, what’s the optimal ram speed for a ddr5 config if I may ask?

@PcCentric what is your junction temp on that?
That is the cooler I use, it’s awesome, in games my 13500 doesn’t get over 56-58 degrees and since I never turn off my pc I’m mining with the cpu and gpu and the highest cpu temp ever got is 63 degrees, love it!
Nice build but i don't think 650w psu is a great option for 6700xt and r7 7700🤔
Agreed 500 watt probably already sufficient.
I think you guys forget about upgrading your gpu later down the line the extra headroom is nice for when rtx 5000 line draws even more power
Putting these parts into pc part picker gives an estimate of about 400w, so while I agree 400w is less than 500w, the benefit of some headroom, outweighs the marginal cost. You could add more storage, turn PBO on, GPU overclock.

What are the monitor brand and specifications ?

The processor is fine, the problem is that for adobe software the nvidia gpu is better.
Can i make this exact build but with a 7800X3D and rtx 4070? I dont know if the cooling will be sufficient with the 7800X3D.
Hey, just a question for whoever knows a bit 😬 So i have a ryzen 9 3900x 3.8Ghz with a 2070 super 8gb, i really want to play max fps in cod right now. Where can I get one of these magnetic headset hooks I would really like to get one
I like the black metal fan clips be quiet had in their fans
@PCCentric Can we have a video, for the highest 1080p CPU and GPU that would be worth spending, before you go to far, (possibly, obsolete)
With Ray tracing too.
Hogwarts legacy and cyber punk included in benchmarks. Between 60 FPS and +120 FPS.
A response would be greatly appreciated too, if a video isn’t possible.
hi centric, i recently bought a ryzen 9 7900x, what gpu should i pair it with?
Hmmm first you need to identify about your amount of money and your demand because if you don't tell we won't know what is a good option for you🥲
All of them.
the most expensive one you can afford probably, the cpu won't bottleneck any gpu
For a 7700 I'd atleast get a moderate air cooler.
Wich extension cable did you use ?
Could you do a Asus Zephryus G16 review?
considering a few bucks extra, would a ddr5 with 6000mhz be better for the CPU ? I see a lot of people say that 6000 is the "sweet spot" according to AMD?
I have a rig almost identical to this but with DDR5 6000mhz, after setting expo to allow my ram to work at its full capacity I gained about 10-15FPS gaming at 1080p ultra settings over the 4800mhz it originally was set at.
yeah. 2x16 6000cl36 kits are only $100, the sweet spot for ddr5 imo
im thinking about buying the rx6700xt. should i wait for the price to drop or is it fine to buy now?

Will a pc like this be able to play ray tracing minecraft at a stable fps?
I'm curious if you build pc for people?
Just get a better GPU bro that 6700xt is not amazing for pushing high FPS in 1440p. You can go down the AM4 route and get yourself a 5800x3D for less price and the cost of the whole bouild as whole will fall. You can then uprage to a 6800/XT with the leftover
And lose upgradability (CPU)
