Great questions! I don't personally know of any disadvantages to offering environmental ed, but then again I'm biased 😄 There are certainly issues here just as in any educational field. Lots of questions about the most effective pedagogies, of course, but also I noticed a struggle for validation with EE. When doing something that's not a "core" subject (like math or reading), it's harder to justify spending time on it, and when we do EE through informal ed methods it gets even more difficult! People really like to measure everything with concrete metrics, but some of the outcomes of EE/informal ed are difficult to measure (emotional intelligence, empathy, changes in attitudes and behaviors, etc).
