I'm an outsider, in the U.S., clinging to whatever I can find on S18 of Heartland. So thanks for posting. And yes, I'm a Nathan fan for Amy, sorry, not a Caleb fan for Amy other than a big brother. So, from this clip, here's my opinion. Yes, Heartland is famous for it's "uplifting" appeal. And, IMO, it's appeal is much more than just that. This is a scene of "Hope". We all need hope, everyday of our lives. This scene shows Amy offering hope to Nathan by holding his hand at the end. Let me interpret what Nathan feels at that moment: "I'm not alone in this. Somebody else cares and is there for me, and I'll place more trust in Amy to not hurt me than I did before this moment." Her compassion for Nathan's circumstances, his "mystery man" persona, is for the first time understood a little better by Amy. I'm 70, my wife 67, we just navigated 20 years of first her mom suffering from dimensia, then her father. Her mom passed several years ago from it. Her dad just recently. My wife has been primary care giver for both throught those last 20 years. There was never a minute her or I would have described as "uplifting" in 20 years of watching your own parents wither away to nothing. But "hope", yes, many friends, family and care providers offered compassion which gave us the hope we needed every day to love and care for her parents. So, IMO this is a fantastic scene of dealing with a very personal and real problem every day.... and it offers Hope to Nathan. That has potential to turn into a "Win Win Win Win" for everybody in both families. Do I need "uplifting"? Who doesn't? But I prefer Hope.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the episode, and that is a courageous and difficult thing you and your wife did for her parents. and thank you for describing it as Hope. Have you read Mike Hurley’s Hope Valley? my father in law died not long ago from Alzheimers so i do know its very difficult to deal with. still i prefer the episode with Amy’s teacher, her father with Alzheimers and Boxer

Anyone dealing with someone you love who has alzheimer/dementia can not be an uplifting story. Have a little empathy. This episode was another great episode. Funny how you only liked ep2, why? Is it because Caleb was in it & Ty was mentioned? What happened to the review about Jessica & Lisa's story? I give this ep 8/10

i do have empathy. my Father in law died last year from Alzheimers and it is a terrible disease. that being said, i prefer the uplifting light hearted Heartland episodes. Remember Any’s teacher’s father had Alzheimers? Now that was an Amazing episode.

No matter how hard she tries to find a man, nobody will ever replace Ty. He was a genuine loving and respectful husband and father.

I don’t feel any chemistry between Amy and Nathan. He’s so boring. Always just drama between them. She is boring around him too.

Fist of all I like your thoughts about new Heartland episodes. Myself I do like only heartland season 1-15.
Seems like Amy is going after Nathan, instead he supposed to go after her. I don't know if I am old fashion, but men has to go after women. And what is the big deal not telling Amy who that women was
    from the beginning.

If l was Nathan l will go out with nurse than Amy drama. I be honest this show lost good storyline and they lost a lot of good actors for no reason and look at this story he didn't wanna tell her who she was than just say it my dad nurse and Lou daughter she always cooking in every episode.
