I remembered Sunday mornings after church, my mom would cook smoke herring, served with zaboca, fried bake or hops bread.

I love the breakfast shed. When I lived in Trinidad I used to go every Saturday for stewed oxtail from the Jamaican guy!!!! I live in Spain now and I'm learning how to cook these things!

Thanks for promoting some of our creole foods. Trinis love their food and that is why we woman are "so thick", but our men like us so, no skinny bones for them like if we are starving. I will check out this place when I get there for 2013 carnival. As someone said, it used to be a stevedores hang out, so it nice that we can get our homecooked food there now. Thanks for posting.

Festivals in Trinidad. I love festivals, it is one thing that I continue to make in my home that is Jamaican.

We have fried and roasted bakes in Trinidad. We don't have festival as it is known in Jamaica . In Trinidad it is fried bakes.
We have dance festivals. Our food festival is akin to a food market where many types and variety of food is sold and displayed.

Small world innit? There is Rolf Bartolo enjoying lunch @ what used to be the best deal in town for breakfast and lunch. Back then The Breakfast Shed served large portions to stevedores and blue collar workers and the cooks were matronly women who knew how bubble a pot. Well! progress meant change so those days are gone. I will have to check out this next-generation Breakfast Shed next trip home…everything looks scrumptious but I will have to mention that I don't want no 'Child Portion'! :)

Sis, I could make you fry Carilli that wouldn't cause you to make a face. I love the rich fusion of the Trinidad cooking. One thing with prissytroopers, you all are always up for a good adventure.

I was enjoying this video up to the point where there was a focus a spotlight on TrinJam...you go all the way to Trinidad to feature Jamaican food. What fucking shit

Good video. I should have trained you with the real Trinidadian accent and language before you did the commentary . It does not sound right but we love you for posting it. I am sorry that you did not check out the lingo to make it sound more local.

Why don't Jamaicans identify their food as Jamaican food instead of calling it West Indian/ Caribbean or Trinjam.
All Carribean people cook differently and in Trinidad, Jamaican food is not our traditional food. However, in recent years there are many Jamaican selling food in Trinidad. In the UK and the USA (where Jamaicans out number other Carribean people), Jamaicans advertise their resturant or food outlets, as Carribean or West Indian food, when in fact it is exclusively Jamaican food, a Trinidadians Bajan or anyone from another Carribean island, cannot get even one dish there! Why then is it not advertised as Jamaican food , when everyone knows Jamaica is in the Carribean.

Why are you calling me a dummy, if this lady is on vacation and presenting a segement on youtube about trinidad food do you think if she eats it for one day she would gain weight. I am a grandmother and i am healthy but once in a while i might indulge i totally understand what you are saying but there is no need for calling me a dummy. i could call you names but i am a better person than that and would not sink to your level.

Why is she complaining about what is light or not. i understand everyone watches their weight but you are in Trinidad lighten up a bit..... BTW no one can cook as good and tasty as people from the Isalnd......
