Took me a while haha. There is no 100% accurate way to predict vis, but there are multiple factors that contribute to vis (algae levels, swell, tides, weather). I check them all before planning a trip.
Even on a day that looks great from above, can change dramatically once you get a couple of feet under water. Lots of factors including what storms or conditions are happening 100's of miles off the coast.

In bad vis I can't get my arm fully outstretched for a shot so I learned how to shoot from the hip.
