One of my top 5 Primus songs. I bought this album the day it came out. That night we made a pot of really strong mushroom tea, some would say much too strong. I remember it had the consistency of syrup or honey. This album stayed on repeat all night. I became intimately familiar with this album that night. The lyrics "words are heard beyond the ear" always stuck with me. Because there is so much of this album that's heard beyond the ear it's crazy. So many little things here and there that don't even register to the casual listener's ear. Actually alot of Primus is heard beyond the ear.
yeah I was just about to say...might just be cuz Les is absolutely the creative genius behind [the] South Park theme song...he's also that same creative genius behind the main theme [song] for Robot Chicken as well. Idk about any others, but it wouldn't surprise me...idk for sure, but for some reason even though I don't think he did Squidbillies' [theme], although, oddly enough, for some strange other reason I feel like (so long as he didn't actually compose & perform/record it) in my hella weird mind, Claypool doing Squidbillies' theme to me seems like it'd be just such the perfect fit.....(it's simply gotta be just his weird-ass, hilarious, clever, creative, brazen psychadelic hillbilly aura, image and self expression...might be too much for my tiny reptile brain to say, or to figure out...I guess maybe only [outside] feedback might possibly enlighten this guy) cheers!!
I actually just watched that episode, and when the song came on, I knew I recognized it, and that it was Primus, but I couldn't remember what song it was. I feel stupid for having to search it up.
@@bigdawg112 what about the drums? i think the drums are the best thing about this song other than the obvious guitar and vocals which are already fucking great
@@orionroberts1253 1. I’m very aware I don’t pass. 2. I actually don’t bring up South Park much these days so it has no bearing on if I pass. 3. You’re pathetic and your comment is one of the reasons why.
The first time I heard Primus was after this album came out. I was 12 or 13. I thanked Piff for being my weird friend amongst weird friends that has great taste in music.
If they ever made an official video for this song I always imagined it taking place on a really creepy old farm with a murderous farmer. I know the My Name is Mud video kinda looks like that anyway, but the video in my head is much scarier looking. Has been ever since this song/album came out...great tune. Still love it.
@21601tugboat When i use to actually do Acid back in the days i would listen to this song+ a different primus song at the same time from 2 cd players lol
I remember I was at a pool hall some years ago and had went to the bathroom. When I came out this song was playing. I thought what the hell is this? It's not horrible just strange.

The tune that creeps into the back of your head when questioning existence.
Brainscan
I always question existence
Dear God, no... He found out...
This whole album demands to be played on a system with a good subwoofer, Claypool's awesome bass work deserves nothing less.
I've got the bass cranked up on my Yamaha amp playing into some Fisher speakers. I feel the bass, man.
How I roll everyday ... bass blasting in my truck letting the people here for themselves how bad Primus sucks
That what I did with my bose 500 dollar subwoofer with a record player I’ve played this album so much that I need to buy a new one
Sometimes I like it with less rumble so I can actually hear the intricacy of the notes
"Claypool's awesome bass work deserves nothing Les."
this always reminds me of that scene in South Park where Kyle looses his mind and everything gets all trippy. lolz
Primus made the South Park theme :)Coincidence? I think not
both are my most favourite things in the world
creekandseminole this actually is the same song! Lol

Brainscan the movie!!!!
"From the top of the charts, to a space in your heart"
The one with Furlong?
Red Sonja yup
Kickass movie witha banging ass soundtrack. Hard as fuck to find now
Saw that movie recently. I was surprised to hear a Mudhoney and Butthole Surfers song as well. And the movie ends with a song by Tad.
- Never leave home without it. "The trickster screaming like an animal"
That breakdown is savage.
for real
Uh huh.
"I am everywhere and I am nowhere... I am everything And I am nothing."
*Everyone screams*
That part so random and out of nowhere
Best Primus song or at least one of the best.
Yeah the bass guitar in my opinion is artistic

DMV. Call it pointless.
@@Space.Ghost. Professor nutbutter!
tool and primus have the best base work out of any other rock band and thats a fact
Tool doesn't begin to amount to Primus. They're much better than most bands, but Primus is still light-years ahead.
wyleFTW my penis is light years ahead of Les Claypool
+Nate R But can it slap, pop, and tap like les?
Well that escalated quickly
Why they are my favorites.
In the breakdown at 1:50 it's literally freak on a leash. It's like Korn heard this breakdown and was like oh hell yea that's a whole ass song.
Yep
Wow I never noticed that
yeah but shiturt, sorry korns not my thing but glad you can enjoy
Primus is like the soundtrack of a indie cartoon straight from the deep web.
Only ps
digital circus
This is the music they use in South Park for when Kyle goes insane with an Existential Crisis and takes control of all reality

Yes I’m glad you say that cuz I love Primus casually, but then saw that episode and have gone down a rabbit hole lately lol…Claypool is a bass god
The best of Primus imo. Their sound goes really well with cynicism. Cartoonishly morbid. Reminds me of the more recent "Jilly's on Smack"
Just love it. The humour..the anti-cliche style.. just everything about it.
Love, my birthday song.
What the top of the charts, to a space in your hearts.
Sorry. From The Top Of The Charts, To A Space In Your Heart.

The only way to experience Primus
This sounds like something Butters might tap to.
THIS IS REALITY, I AM EVERYWHERE
I am nothing and everything
*_I am reality_*
loved this one in brainscan 1994 As a horror film its wonderfully original.
THIS IS REALITY

All the folks in this thread that don't know the significance of "PRIMUS SUCKS".
lol
PRIMUS SUCKS !!!
Srimus Pucks!!
Honestly, I think Les got tired of that about 30 years ago but go on with your bad self. 🤣🤣
The first song I ever heard by Primus
From the movie brain scan
Been hooked ever since
The octaves are strong with this band.
a coked-up bill gates dancing to this in a full feature film would be epic
Still Laughing to that!!!!!!!!!!!!! Classic...
no it wouldnt
it's from Brainscan
never heard a song with word adulation in it. Thank you primus for that "word". inspiring me with knowledge.......
The 3D on this video really adds to the song.
"the words are heard beyond ear, the heart and mind are focus for this conversation." Buddha Claypool
That china used in the chorus is hard hitting, sounds so good. Drummers know.
Played this song when my wife went into labor LOL
I love your profile Pic so much. Fucken randy
i would always play this to my first time smokers.
I liked your comment before even reading it because I saw Randy's gut

I still remember exactly where I was sitting when I first heard this album in 2002. Started me playing bass.
"Never leave home without it!"
18 years old and still listening to primus in 2019 YEAHH
Am I the only one to get a robot chicken vibe from this?
they did the theme tune to that too.
Nope, I'm getting Robot Chicken vibes from this
could be part due to the clay looking pig and the random and crazy nature of the song
@@motto25 i believe Les wrote the theme music for robot chicken (and south park) and maybe had a hand in some writing for a few skits as well

and what of the bass playing the breakdown
You will know or better at the time !
les claypool made the motto for his band "primus sucks". i'm not sure why but fans don't hate primus when they say primus sucks though.
