I'm 77 and used to donate blood every three months and then I had a heart attack and was put on different drugs. Sadly, several of them now prohibit my donating blood anymore.
The ones who make the rules aren’t necessarily the ones receiving the blood. I had to have 3 transfusions this past year & it saved my life. Thank you Joel and everyone else who has donated. You may never know the lives you save but know you are saving lives.
My father recently died from leukemia. He required many blood transfusions during his treatment. I'm forever grateful to everyone who donates blood...it's such a generous, selfless act.
That's awesome you give blood Joel! I donate plasma which makes lifesaving medications. It's an awesome feeling knowing that my donations help someone. It's also a joy to see you open your gifts and sharing them with us too! Keep being you!!
Hi Joel. This "gift opening" was a joy to see. You are right when you said, "I feel so blessed". What thoughtful gifts from people who took the time to find presents that they knew you would appreciate. Whenever you feel blue, just go through these amazing books and know that you are loved and appreciated by friends all over the world. Happy Belated Birthday. 🎂 🫂❤️🙏🌎🕊
My only frustration with donating blood is they charge the recipient $800-$1,000 a pint in the US. If I donate my blood I want the recipient to receive my blood free. ❤
They have to cover the cost of paying the people who collect the blood, the testing of the blood, the storage of the blood, the transportation of the blood, etc…
@@mr.a. the American Red Cross is a nonprofit organization, however, hospitals have to pay them for the blood to cover administrative and logistical costs and that cost gets forwarded onto you, there is no such thing as free, how long would you survive if you worked for free?
Cheryl sent you a gold mine. People pay outrageous amounts for antique postcards! If times get hard, you can sell them to interested buyers! Thank you, Cheryl, you are a doll!
❤ so glad you liked the book❤ I have been donating blood since I was 18, but I’ve been anemic most of my life so I can’t donate regularly. Glad you’re able and willing to do it. Not too many people do. 😊
I'm an old Christian, and Cheryl is TOTALLY right. And I have always said the same thing. Some people say "You can't just pick and choose what you believe about the bible". Yeah you can. It was written by a bunch of different men who could not even agree with each other. And men back then thought women were lower than slaves, cattle, and the house dog, to I am not listening to anything they have to say about women.
Aww, what thoughtful gifts. ❤It goes to show how much Joel is appreciated for entertaining us and just being you. We love you, Joel, and your lovely gifts. ❤❤
Hi Joel I'm so happy that you're giving blood. I had to have a blood transfusion in April and after that I thought of all the people donating and how it saved my life. You are really helping ❤. Thank you
I’m so happy you enjoyed your gifts Joel, you are a positive influence on many, and well deserving of everything good that comes your way. 🥰 And make sure you do get Keegan to play some of those piano songs, would love to hear them! 🙂
The UK looks better and better every time you show a different town. Beautiful. Perhaps the weather changing maybe contributes to your lightheadedness after your blood donation? Sometimes the changing weather bothers my sinuses and my balance doesn't feel right. I love your bookstores in the UK. I enjoyed this video.😊❤
About giving blood- good for you, Joel. I have an appointment to give blood this Saturday at 5:30. You have a birthday party or Christmas Party every time you go to the post office. Good for you! Loved this.
Joel, you're simply too adorable. ❤😂😂😂 I love your reactions while opening the packages 📦 and how grateful you are for each gift that was given. You're like a big kid in a candy story. 😁🤗💞💕
What a great video. You really are an inspiration and a happy distraction to everything going on in the world. Thanks so much. And your workouts are paying off. Looking very buff lately. Love to you and Keegan and the family. ❤
I give blood three times a year, women have to have a longer gap than men. Just once I was there 2.5hrs. First of all my arm wouldn’t stop bleeding. Then, when it did, I kept fainting every time I tried to sit up. They told me that most people have a “bad” session once. So far they are right. I’ve never had that issue since.
yeah!!! soon it will be a habit, this giving blood. Im a 70 year old woman and I've given 23 times. just restarted after a decades long break because of meds I was on. good on you!! by the time you get to my age you will have donated scores of times
So, I know this wasn’t the point at all but I love that you and K are watching 1883! I love that show and find it super fascinating. Also, of course, good stuff on giving blood your saving lives and setting a good example for others. I sent you something once it got returned and I haven’t tried again but I think I will try again soon 🎉🎉 happy birthday hope it was a great one
Try donating platelets next time. You can do it way more often but it takes longer. Platelets are given to cancer patients to replenish what the chemo kills off. I donate as often as possible as a way to give back. I received 2 units of blood after a car accident I was in back in 2009.
I don’t mind long videos opening mail. It’s fun to see what you got and your reaction to them. I just finished book 6 of the The Throne Glass series. I’m glad he gave you the prequel. That one has five novellas that look into the history of the main character and helps explain people she comes across throughout the series. One of the characters in the novellas doesn’t make an appearance until book 6 but she is important. No spoilers.
Joel this is fantastic! Thank you. God for you giving blood. I used to give as often as they would let me til I got too anemic too. And they beg me all the time cuz I've got universal donor blood. I watched the rules change here in TN and it's nice to see them be less prejudiced and hopefully better for actual safety. Oh oh oh, yay, Assassin's Blade is the prequel for the series Throne Of Glass, that is really good, but don't base it off that one, cuz like the hobbit is a bit different than the main books. And the birthday gifts were all so kind and lovely. Your love of all those things and your gratefulness for the gifts is so wonderful to watch. Keep the childlike joy you have.
Hi Joel, I love old postcards from the early 1900s. Very cool gifts. I need the Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm since that’s my name. The Peter rabbit music book is a real find!💜🙂🎃🍁🍂
It is wonderful good deed in donating your blood. I would love to do blood donations but I am unable to donate blood with my two fused heart valves and bad heart murmur that was discovered when I was toddler. It would be high heart danger risk towards my own health to do blood donation that I have been encouraged to not do since I was child. I am lucky to know my hubby and our son can donate their own blood to me if I do need transfusion one day since rest of my family are either A or B blood types awhile we are 0 + blood type. Up until this year, I couldn't give blood in the US because I lived in the UK for 6 months between 1980 and 1997 (the mad cow scare). I tried to donate my breastmilk back in 2009 (I pumped more than my baby could eat), but they wouldn't take that either :(
So … I live in Canada and I am not allowed to give blood because I lived in the UK for over 6 months in 1985/86. This is because of the risk of contracting Creudztfeld-Jakob (mad cow) disease. Apparently there is still no licensed test for it. You would think by now the ban would be lifted!
I am not allowed to give blood due to the fact that I had Hepatitis B and even though I cannot get it myself anymore, I am a carrier and can pass it along.
Until recently I wasn't allowed to donate blood because I lived in Berlin in the late 80s and early 90s and was married to a guy in the military. If you donate every 3 months you will donate 100 times in 25 years. You will still be younger than I am now. Lol - thank you for your donation! I love the story of the middle aged woman flirting.
Joel, I commend you for giving blood. It's an ulturistic and selfless act that helps others. However, here in the States with the hysteria and laws banning gay men from donating blood and then imposing so many stipulations thereafter on sexual conduct & behavior when the same is not done for my non-monogamous, drug-taking straight/str8 counterparts, is bigoted, belittling and unnecessarily stigmatizing. As a gay Christian, I should rise above my pettiness, disdain & vehemence about this issue but at this time I cannot offer grace & forgiveness to the U.S. health establishment about their policies on donating blood. It will be a cold day in my personal hell before I donate blood again ( I did so in the 80's). Again, I thank you for doing what I cannot bring myself to do at this time. As gay Christians we are given two commandments: Love God. Love one another. Please pray for me that I might do better with the latter one. Thank you.

It will be a cold day in my personal hell before I donate blood again ( I did so in the 80's). Again, I thank you for doing what I cannot bring myself to do at this time. As gay Christians we are given two commandments: Love God. Love one another. Please pray for me that I might do better with the latter one. Thank you.
I couldn't legally kiss my partner in public several years ago, so now that I can, I'm not going to. #thoughtprocessgonewrong.
25 years at 4 times a year equals 100 times! yikes!...
Quote of the Day: “I can’t do maths.”
It will take you 25 years to get to 100 donations if you do it four times yet
1:05 So, if one is gay and identifies as polyamorous, the blood becomes impure?
so they have good taste in men!
