Madison La'akea Te-Lan Hall Chock (born July 2, 1992) is an American ice dancer. With her skating partner, Evan Bates, she is the 2022 Olympic gold medalist in the team event,[a] the 2023 and 2024 World champion, the 2023-24 Grand Prix Final champion, a three-time Four Continents champion (2019, 2020, 2023), and a five-time U.S. national champion (2015, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024). She is a three-time Olympian, having represented the United States at the 2014, 2018, and 2022 Winter Olympics.
Evan Bates (born February 23, 1989) is an American ice dancer. With his skating partner, Madison Chock, he is the 2022 Olympic gold medalist in the team event[a], the 2023 and 2024 World champion, the 2023-24 Grand Prix Final champion, a three-time Four Continents champion (2019, 2020, 2023), and a five-time U.S. national champion (2015, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024). The two represented the United States at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics.
2023-2024 Season
Skipping the Challenger circuit for a second consecutive season, Chock and Bates' first competition was a defense of their title at the 2023 Skate America. They finished first in the rhythm dance by seven points in front of Canadian training mates Lajoie/Lagha, despite having had a dangerous fall in practice the morning of the segment.[97] They won the free dance as well, taking their fourth event title by a wide margin. They cite the fiftieth anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon as the inspiration for their Pink Floyd medley free program.
In advance of the 2024 U.S. Championships, Chock/Bates were preemptively named to the American team for the 2024 Four Continents Championships, which were to be held the following week in Shanghai.[102] Chock began to experience flu-like symptoms in the days before the national championships. They won the rhythm dance by an 8.98-point margin over Carreira/Ponomarenko, but Chock's symptoms continued to worsen, and the decision to compete in the free dance was only firmly made shortly before their final warmup. They lost that segment to Carreira/Ponomarenko, finishing second there, but remained in first place overall.[103] Chock/Bates subsequently withdrew from the Four Continents team, and were replaced by Zingas/Kolesnik.[104]

Saw them up close, simply magical!! So polished and elegant. I felt like I was watching a very very refined program on a professional circuit dancehall competition. Bravo!
I liked it more here than I did in the beginning of the season. I think they're hampered by the lack of crowd, but they did everything they could to put a fun and technically proficient routine out there.

They are skating faster than at the GPF.
The first 1/3 was the strongest, and then I lost interest after that. Glad they're in 1st place. Nervous for their FD though, because I don't think it's their strongest. I don't they've had an exceptional FD since their alien & the astronaut program two years ago.

Love this program! Really rocks and they use the music well - that lift with the Brian May guitar run toward the end - AWESOME!
It obvious as to why they are the winners.
I love this pair, but this program is not the best to really show off how good they are. Despite the program, no one can sell a program better than Maddie. I hope they win it all this year.
What is the placing for the top 6 teams after the short? What position are they in after that skate I wonder?

Since the '70's Torville and Dean reigned as the greatest ice dancing pairs ever, but Chock and Bates have seized that mantle and will hold it for the foreseeable future!

Overscored. Plain and simple. This is a Queen exhibition program, not an interpretation of 80's music and dance. Why have only 2 canadian pairs done their homework properly? It's a real shame that most of these athletes only used 80's music either as movie interpretations or exhibition interpretations which definitely wasn't the task. Can't believe that Piper and Paul aren't in 1st place. Ice Dance as a discipline shows signs of a real grotesque.

Dont even mind them. People always get upset when ice dancers get anything but applause. That's in part why the disciple is in its current state, but we already knew that @rafearcher7882
