    This is so timely! We're planning Feb 2022 either Disney or Universal.... I currently have Disney booked, but have been considering switching to Universal (my family has never been).. and the price difference is ridiculous! I can get a week at dockside with park to park tickets, for 5 days, for under $3k, which is way cheaper than Disney value resorts! I really appreciate your points of view!
    And the way Disney is going, taking so much away from onsite guests, I'm really considering making the switch!

    We always stay at Hard Rock for the express pass. Worth every penny as I never have to plan our trips out like at Disney. We wake up when we feel like it and head to the parks when we feel like it. Very little planning needed when you stay deluxe.

    This is a really great informational video. Thank you. May I request an introductory informational video about Disneyland? I am visiting DL this winter and I am nervous. I’m more familiar with WDW. Thanks!

    1) Bring 2-3 quart/pint baggies in pocket. Umbrellas, and even many ponchos, will not protect your wallet or electronics in the giant rainstorms that happen. You will get wet to your underwear.
    2) Wear fanny pack with buckle that has THREE tines (one will not pass inspection). This gets you on Mummy, Hagrid, and many other rides without having to do lockers.

    The Premeir hotels are way less than deluxe hotels at Disney and when you factor in the extra value of the Express pass it is huge added value. If the Express pass is a must for you for a family of 4, after you pay for Express passes you will pay more to even stay off site. Universal really gets the point on value added to stay Prenium onsite. If I was doing a split stay and only stay in one hotel, I would stay Premium onsite at Universal and commute to Disney for my Disney days and not the other way around.

    I'm happy to see UO finally get the credit it deserves, but I'm also conflicted due to the increasing crowds. :P It's awesome to see the UO edition more regularly. If you ever want to do a show on accessibility in the parks or UO with young kids, I'd be happy to help! Keep up the awesome work.

    These are all great tips! My advice to first-timers is don't assume you can do everything in a day or two...give yourself a good 3-4 days to really take it all in, including Volcano Bay, stay onsite in a Premiere Hotel, use the resort transportation (or walk), and, especially for regular Disney visitors....RELAX and enjoy it...no worrying about advance dining reservations or pre-booking attractions, so easy to go back to the hotel mid-day for a nap or pool time...just a much more chill vacation experience in my family's opinion.

    I highly recommend Cabana Bay! We had a huge room- family suite at the same price for a small Disney Value resort. It has fun theming, many amenities, friendly staff, and you can walk to the parks- about 20 minutes. (Right next to Volcano Bay)
    Craig is also right that you can stay at a Premier cheaper than a Disney deluxe. Royal Pacific was worth the price with free express passes each day of stay and a super close walk to the parks.

    Hearing Freebird live at Universal! Wow. Sweet Home Alabama is a crowd pleaser but Freebird would’ve been epic
    How dare Craig rag on Davy Jones like that? He was amazing at Flower and Garden! I definitely saw a few Baby Boomers get pretty rowdy at that concert too 😂
    I actually had to tell my friend who he was and that he was in the Monkees in the 60s. She still didn’t recognize him until I told her that he also made a cameo in The Brady Bunch movie 😉

    I think the park-to-park pass is a total rip off. They're literally selling a $70+ upcharge for ONE RIDE. I get the thought, but I don't think I'd ever pay that much extra just to go on one ride. Just charging that much extra for hopper tickets at Disney or Universal is insane to me. You don't get any extra time in your day and you're already paying $120+ for access to the park.

    • @bbizzle82
      @bbizzle82 3 года назад +4

      it is a rip. also that train ride is very overrated. I honestly would rather walk to the other park than take the train if the wait time is over 15 minutes.

    • @TheRealConcertKing
      @TheRealConcertKing 3 года назад +3

      @@bbizzle82 Right? The lines for the Hogwarts express can get well over an hour. And that's literally the only thing you're paying $70 extra for. So you're losing time out of your day to ride it. And since it's different both ways if you want the full experience you have to wait in line for it TWICE. Definitely not worth the money.

    Gonna make my fisrt AP visit next year and I would love for you to do a 101 on AP, not just the perks and all that, but ALL the process cause, for example, used to DIsney I almost bought Gft cards only to find Universal doesn't sell APs through the web!

    The best thing we did when we visited was to do all the big-ticket rides that weren't Harry Potter first thing - everyone goes to those areas straight away. We were able to walk on to a ton of popular rides that had long lines later in the day!

    Keep up content! Good trick to look at express pass and hotel pricing. We are hoping to try and dip our toes at UO for a single day just to see if we like it. These types of tips are great to try and maximize the chances of a good first impression.

    Hi guys! Great show again! I was wondering if you had any opinions whether Universal will be any less busy this fall with WDW 50th anniversary? I love Disney, but I won't be going anywhere near there during the 50th... the crowds would send me off the deep end! Would consider visiting and staying at Universal if the crowds were reasonable. I really want to go to HHN!!! Thanks for you two being you!!

      Try to go during the week day pick an off day it gets packed you will not be able to do or see everything...if possible pay for a fast pass ticket they have different levels.see what houses you want to see ahead of time and try to get to know the park ahead of time.you also have the option to go on regular rides.just be realistic the cast members are very helpful but it's really crowded ..

    Is there something like a database of your/DisUnplugged reviews of restaurants at Universal (or just search out individual RUclips videos)? We are kind of second timers though the first time was July/Aug 2020 and not everything was open and what was open seemed to be more limited so not really second timers.

  • @bbizzle82
    @bbizzle82 3 года назад +4

    the train ride is overrated and way too much money if that is the sole purpose for getting a park to park pass. If you have done it twice (in reverse) that is enough. If the line is too long i just walk to IOA.

    I may have missed it, but how many days would you recommend for first timers visiting Universal? (We won't be going to the waterpark)

    • @Emmamerp
      @Emmamerp 3 года назад +1

      I'd say a minimum of 4 depending on if you have express or not and what time of year it is. No express passes, plus large crowds and a leisurely park touring pace, 4 days may not be enough to do and see everything.

    Is there a slow season in comparison to WDW? Disney does not seem to have one anymore.

    • @loracaro4427
      @loracaro4427 3 года назад +1

      Right after /before major Holliday's are when it's less crowded for both parks I would say jan..Feb but not during winter break or presidents weekend ..when it's off season both parks will have something going on like cheerleading in Disney or they have they marathons in both Parks...summer can be quiet depending on when you go school is out for the south end of may end of June for northern schools out.. September is really hot but school is in ..hope it helps
