I'm from Belfast living in England, this is one thing I miss from home, Pasties! Especially from the now closed down, Pelios Pasties on North queen Street.
I live in Scotland and have the same problem. I get Veg Roll, proper Beef sausages, and Pasties delivered from Home Butchers. It's a bit pricey, and pasties need to be bought in bulk quantities, but it fits in my freezer drawer no bother.
Deep fried Pink potatoes dipped in Oil that looks Blacker then oil recently drained out of a MK 3 Cortina that Ain't been serviced for 20 years ermmmmm Yummy !
@@stephengallagher2209 no worries, worked in a few chip shops and once the chips are blanched they start to rot after a few hours, the leftover chips get minced with leftover meat, seasoning and red food colouring or ketchup, that’s your pastie!
@@benbell4029 well Ben, I'm 45, I'm from Lisburn, now live in Lurgan and have been all over NI (and Ireland), and this is the first mention of a "steakette" I've ever seen or heard of, so your statement of them being in nearly every chippy over here, is bullshit lad.
I remember getting pasties with fish and chips in Belfast but it wasn't pink. And I think it was just potato, not meat??? Surely ones like those exist too?
The British army were welcomed just for the trade ! (sssshhhhh). One trooper would collect the money & the others (6-8) would get his six ! while he (she) bought the scran !.

You are half right and half wrong. Its food colouring that makes it pink and not all pasties have pork in them including this one which is just potato and spices, nutmeg and onion. @@GarethMckittrick1980

It's pink because they put ketchup in the mix.

Oil last changed in 1974.
🤣
Black 'n' tans ?.
Beatties is the only chippie in Belfast that sells pasties? Bollocks
He's talking about the steakette, not the pastie
@@peterjackson1212 Most chippies sell steakettes but not in the cheese and onion style.
Pastie supper in Greasey Joe's or Frankie's chippy ....The good aul days..😁👍
What oil are they using? Crude oil would be my best guess...
A pastie can be got at practically every chip shop in Northern Ireland. It’s not exclusive to Beatties, not even remotely close.

Sausage meat, mash and onion I believe.
Yes you can get the white Pasties too, some places sell both, white Pasties have no meat.
@@Angeliaaerrington they normally do, chippys normally stipulate when it's a potato pastie.
The Pink Pasties are a lot harder to find outside the belfast area. Every chippy in NI does the white pastie though.

I'm starving
Did I just see a lad walking backwards out in the street?😅
Why is the potato pink?
Because it's sausage meat 😂

Common, the oil man, it is black, it look so old
It's not potato inside. It's sausage meat
It's both, plus spices and onions. It was originally all the leftovers of the day before mashed up and battered
You are both wrong. It's pure potato. Spiced and a bit of ketchup to make it pink
