Hello my lovelies.
It's time for liberty Bibber tea for the next week while. Building a 2002 Jeep liberty into a rock crawler and I couldn't be more excited. I'm absolutely astonished at working with a body. It's kind of frightening but exciting at the same time because I didn't realize that it was so simple.
With the unibody, I really wanted to make sure that it is ready to withhold the suspension and the rock crawling that I want to do in it therefore decided to make stiffeners for the sides. I had looked into just buying a stiffener kit, just like you can for an XG but really couldn't come across anything for the jeep liberty which is why I just decided to make a very simple design , but it's gonna do exactly what it needs to do.
Make sure that you are voting for the team that you wanna win also, if you upgrade your membership to an elite membership with OnxOffroad or you become an Elite member before September 15 you can get a free team hat for the team that you want to win this year's competition.

Thanks for letting us drop by and putting me to work! 🤗 I love working in the garage with other BA women!
Agree that watching your build is nice because I feel like you are the one that is most embracing the spirit of the challenge. The other builds are awesome, but yours seems more realistic for the average person.
I really like this build. A tip you may or may not know, when capping tube or really when welding any metal closed you want to leave drains because the temperature fluctuation will actually create moisture inside the tube.
Even if your turning a bumper or something into an air tank you still need a drain but that would be a drain like on the bottom of air compressors to drain the water. Your supposed to drain the water from your air compressor periodically.
You go Holly
Good to see someone building an actual off road rig for the Onyx challenge, instead of a clown car, wrecker, or monster Jag. You and Paul will kill the competition.
Lol
Awesome fabrication, cannot wait to see it done
Great DIY on those stiffeners Hollie!
Glad you’re building as we would and not like Robby and over building. Yes I really enjoy both channels and I like to see the different ways that you guys building
@@dalecronk4377 I think those guys would be bored doing what I’m doing for this project. Can’t blame them for keeping things interesting on their part, but I doubt any budget build would turn out like the others (except maybe Paul’s)
@@MischiefMakerTVyours and Paul's feel like the only ones that normal people at their house would do.
Now take my little beater daily driver liberty and make it sick too! 😂
I have been watching you a long time and I am very impressed with your growth. I am 76 years young and a fabrocator with a bad back. Take care of yourself please. I like watching you 4 wheel also. Take care, from Roseburg Oregon 😊
its about time you got on the liberty, looking forward to this build as a former liberty owner and a Current Gladiator owner
So nice meeting and talking you at the GSMJI. The giveaway Jeep looks amazing, you did an incredible job on it. Loved seeing Mischief Maker and Nessie. Keep up the awesome work, hope to meet Walter next time.
Other advantage with the stiffeners is lowering the center of gravity.
You’re certainly right about that…The 1/4” wall angle iron and skid plate I’m planning on will do just that.
@@MischiefMakerTV liked the comments at the end of the video. I mentioned to you at the OffRoad Games about the “common man” budgets build. 👍
You make I Nice Job holly
Greets from the Nederlands
Yes the KJ is BACK 🔥🔥🔥
Never saw a Liberty frame stiffened soo strong! Awesome job Holly!
😂😂
I work in my garage alone most of the time and would hardly get anything done without my 2X4s, 4X4s, ratchet straps and my personal favorite, my 2’X3’ 3/4” box (with finger holes for lifting). Sometimes you just need to get things done!👍🏼
Killing it!!
This is rad. Keep it up
Come on people!!! Lets get this channel to 100k subs
I am loving the spirit of the build. This is a totally achievable build for most weekend warriors! Keep it up.
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
I’m sending my XJ to you for a rebuild 😊, you fab game as impressive.
Wait till you see the sliders! The next episode will be a ton of fun!!
Great job! 🚘👍
I think I saw ur jeep in Colorado OHV area..😊
Approaching 100K subs!
Liberty biberty for the win my lovely . 🌹🗽🇺🇸😜
I got the hat and shirt at the jeep invasion
Thank you so much for coming to visit with me at GSMJI. I hope you had a wonderful time at the event!!
@@MischiefMakerTV had a blast, it was my birthday. Was awesome to see you again.
You tube is being stingy with the home feed and notifications
How about "Boudicca"
I was not talking to you.
Excellent! I was sorting out a TDI with a jeep drivetrain for my '54 Fargo/Dodge truck until last night when I got the idea to look into the Liberty diesels! In your opinion will the Liberty front axle be too complex with the steering and suspension parts to attach to a leaf spring suspension? I can't find a good view of the front end online. Can't wait to keep watching this build!
Sometimes...you do JUST NEED a 2x4 🗿👽🗿👽🗿👽🗿
Sooo are you saying that I bought the old stock t-shirt 😮
Not the blu.....
Was that @discover4x4 i seen in the shop?
It surly was
@@MischiefMakerTV how awesome. They are some great people. And great trail guides. I did the spring big rig round up with them at black mountian this year and will be doing the fall big rig round up in windrock next month with them.
👌✌👍☕cz
I have a 2004 liberty I've been saving parts for. Glad to see someone building one
100 percent!!
The evolution of your fab skills is so cool to watch 👏🏻
Awesome good job guys 👍👍👍👍👍
I’m such a fan of liberty’s , they are so underrated as trail-overland Jeeps,, and as snow wheelers they are excellent 👍 i luv my 2006 totally rebuilt bumper to bumper , goes every where i want it to especially in the snow 👍 i just wanna know where is my transfer case skid 🤷🏻♂️😂
You are so right. The full time 4WD option you get with the NP242 transfer case makes a huge difference in snowy conditions.
@@MischiefMakerTV see my Liberty came with the JK , NP241J transfer case , without the full time 4WD option .. which i like better , more durable in my opinion , but i have traction control and brake lock diff’s😂
We had a 2008. Kind of crap and cheaply built... except they were decent off-road.
3.7 was weak. Seats crap. Dash plastic fantastic.
@@samfuller6273buddy ya need a 06 or 07 KJ , they are far more capable than the KK were .. and much better built👍
Great episode, cheers!
Love seing your chow. I like it becouse you are a rol model to other Girls and chow that Girls can build cars. I also like to se you hitting the trails and following you in General.
WOW @07:10 31/2 drawers open on top of each other super bad!!! sorry i see danger does anyone else see this? Or is it just me cause i have had a tool box flip cause of this!! Just asking if this is only a me thing!! Love watching you work on this jeep!! Keep up the awesome work and work more on safety too
Everything is looking awesome! Looking forward to seeing the build progress. Hurricane has such a beautiful smile! Cool that you have good friends that are willing and able to come and give you a hand! Thank you for sharing
when did someone start picking cherries with an engine crane?
You need more help,, your so far behind, call in the calvary..
My episodes for this are delayed a bit. But I’m not much further along than this. The foundation is the most important part. If I get this right, I will have a reliable rig that I can enjoy for years to come. It’s well worth the extra time to get the frame sections, cage tie-ins and suspension right.
Have you ever considered renting or buying a mag drill. Mine will do up to a 2 3/16" hole through 3" steel with ease.
Yay liberty video thank you
Always great to see you building
THANKS FOR ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO
Thank you so much for watching! 😀🙌🏻
An interesting way you are strengthening her. Why the 2 x 4 tube?
Well, I had the 2x3 sitting here in the shop and it allowed me to drop the frame so it would be even with the existing crossmembers that sat below the unibody channels. The angle iron was an after thought and I just liked the idea of having additional surface area to weld brackets to and bolt skid plates to.
You can probably get away with just using angle iron with these vehicles (especially since the frame channels are straight runs).
This is all new territory for me and I’m really unsure exactly how strong the unibody will be after I’m done removing all the material I plan on removing. Hoping the cage being tied into these reinforced unibody channels will be enough to make up for all the cutting and avoid having to further strengthen things down the road.
@@MischiefMakerTV Oh okay, kewl. If you can get the roll cage attached to the frame stiffeners, it will make a REALLY strong structure. Unibodies get their strength from boxes and triangles..
@katreniaclark I’ve got a really neat plan for that. More details on that will be in the next episode.
@@MischiefMakerTV I am sure you do.....
Looking fantastic Holly. Can’t wait to see it all finished up 🎉🎉🎉
Neat video. It appears you may be outgrowing that shop already.
Fewer outside projects is the solution. The giveaway Jeep took to a ton of space (new parts, old parts stacked up, 2 sets of tires so the winner gets a fresh set, etc…).
By the time it’s just the YJ project in here, there will be tons of room for just me and my stuff 😀
@@MischiefMakerTV 👍
Why did you take 4.5 minutes to tell us over & over what you were going to do. Did you think we do not listen. The videos would be more interesting to see you build it.
The comments and questions dictate what needs to be repeated, but I do truly appreciate those of you who listen. I’m sure the 30 seconds it took felt like 4 minutes when you’re hearing it for the 2nd or 3rd time! 😓
Why are you picking on her if you don't like the content don't watch 😂
Love the metal hualer! I use my battery cutoff to shorten the steel to fit through the trunk into the passenger area of my Malibu. Closest steel supplier is over a hour away and I reserve my truck and trailer for large hauls.
You gals rock. Well done and keep up the good work.
Only problem is - with $20k I might do a xj, or find a 2008 jk with a good heart and 44’s as cheap as possible, then add to it.
Liberty was an odd choice but I like your spunk
You’re 6’ tall? Lucky.
Agreed. I think a TJ would be my preference for a frame/tub vehicle, but the $1,000-2,500 price tags on these Gen1 Libertys really piqued my interest. I did find XJs at that price, but they were in rough shape. And I couldn’t find a decent TJ for less than $5,000 - used car prices (especially 4x4s) have gotten out of control lately!
Hero to Zero....Bye
😅👋🏻
