  • Doug Howlett was a fantastic athlete and was one of the top try scorers, not only for the All Blacks, but also in Super Rugby. His eye for a gap, acceleration off the mark and general skills made him a threat whenever he touched the ball. He was a brilliant wing and will be remembered as an all time great All Black.
    Enjoy and thanks for watching!

    Doug Howlett, what a bloody legend, I saw him playing against a South African super team one time, he copped a really dirty cheap shot over the sideline, it hurt him quite bad and sent him into a rage, the guy who did it got utterly smashed in 2 ferocious tackles within a few minutes of each other, it was the best retribution on a rugby field I've ever seen. What a fantastic guy and a fantastic player, easily in the top 3 wingers of all time!

    Played at a time when the All Blacks looked to get the ball to its wingers (Joe Rokocoko the other) as often as possible. Doug also looked for work too! In the 2003 World cup game v Wales he scored a try on the right wing, scored another taking the ball 'off wing', was an emergency scrum half at a ruck, was 1st receiver and 2nd receiver from set piece moves and was acting full back on occasions too!!

    The rugby world has and is truly blessed with many outstanding athletes, New Zealand’s own Doug Howlett, is one of. Without over exaggerating, Howlett was in my opinion, a near complete rugby player that thrilled the many fans with great moments of play. His great support play, game foresight, and speed earned him, his team mates and his many followers, wonderful passages of play which led to many well deserved tries. Thank you Doug Howlett for the sweet memories, and thank you Real Rugby, for sharing.

      Umaga was a beast! He had such a good overall view on the field and the current game state, punched holes into the opponent's defensive lines, had tiger alike reflexes and made clean passes, as we can see at 7:17. The skill involved there is extremely underappreciated. And he looked like a predator when he was leading the haka.

Carter hobbling off injured and his replacement Nick Evans pulling his hamstring just after he came on definitely didn't help. Hahaha man, funny watching Howlett SMOKE the Irish a couple of times. I have to say they've improved a hell of a lot as back in the day the Irish were total carthorses - unfit, slow and with journeyman physiques.

    I remember seeing Douggy beating Caleb Ralph to the ball way back then. I thought at the time, you may as well hang up your boots Caleb cos this guy's younger, faster and he's hungry.

    during that time....this ABs team was great but they didn't win a world cup..right until 2011...the ABs were pronounced world champion till today 2018

      Howcome they never won a world championship?

    • @Awesome14450
      @Awesome14450 5 лет назад

      @@OriqinLCinema I think '07 really hammered in the point that skill wasn't enough to win world cups, they recognised that they weren't mentally equipped for pressure cooker games. They could've easily blamed the ref, like a lot of the AB fans did back then and like some coaches today still do, but instead they dug to the root cause of their "failures"

      Thanks for the feedback mate. In our older videos we used to have slo-mo's, but we wanted to keep the videos at a watchable length for everyone and we would rather have more tries in our vids. Thanks for the feedback and support!

    Great ambassador for NZ rugby. Lost a yard or two of pace by the end of his ABs career. I thought Rico Gear was unlucky not to be part of the 2007 RWC squad as by 2005 he was the inform right wing of NZ.
