  • This is the latest video in a series of deep dive looks at some of the mods that I am using in my games. You may find that these are worth a look for use in your own games.
A deep dive is probably closer to a tutorial video than a showcase video… but it has elements of both while not exactly being either. These are more like explanations of what is possible with each mod and are really intended to help you figure out what a mod does… or does not do… and whether it would be a good fit for your game.
I also want to point out that these videos will be directed from the point of view of PC users using a keyboard and mouse and otherwise running with default settings. If you running on a Mac or console, or use a gamepad on the PC some of the control options and elements will undoubtedly be different, but the functionality demonstrated should still be valid.
Today's mod is Domum Ornamentum. It is not really a mod to build a modpack around, but it is certainly a welcome addition to any modpack. I have come to use it in all of my survival worlds.
The mod can be found on CurseForge:
    www.curseforge.com/minecraft/...
I strongly encourage you to go download the mod and try it for yourself. If you like it, please reach out to the mod owner and let them know. It is always good for mod authors to hear that all their efforts are appreciated and enjoyed and used. It keeps them going and of course, that means more great mods to choose from in the future.
I have also used a number of additional mods in creating this video to improve the appearance or quality of the final result. These include:
    CMDCam: www.curseforge.com/minecraft/...
    Jade: www.curseforge.com/minecraft/...
    Lithos 32x Resource Pack: www.curseforge.com/minecraft/...
    Oculus: www.curseforge.com/minecraft/...
    Rubidium: www.curseforge.com/minecraft/...

100% wholesome and positive content, charmingly delivered. that outro was probably the best I've ever heard, and the info on the mod itself makes me want to replace Macaw's in my modpack...

Thank you! That truly brings a smile to my face. As for replacing Macaw's... do what I do... use them both!

I think floating carpets is more like for awnings and such! I can relate with confusing Architects' Cutter with the Stonecutter, my worst mistake was putting them next to each other. Thanks for the review sir, I hope you are in good health and spirits too!

Hah! Awnings! Awesome! Thank you for that insight! Brilliant!
And thank you for all your kind words and thoughtful comments!

precisely that. if I want to build a desert marketplace under the shade of colorful tents and awnings, I either have to use whole wool blocks, which looks weird and cumbersome, or i have to suspend all the carpet on string. with floating carpets, there's no need to search out a spider spawner and build a string farm anymore. kind of niche, but surprisingly useful when you look at how it'd be done without it.

Yeah... the shortage of string in vanilla is really frustrating for me. Finding and harvesting cobwebs is a pain in the butt... and hunting spiders or searching for a spawner seems ridiculous when we are talking about generating string for Pete's sake. That is one of the reasons why I almost always run with the Supplementaries mod. With a little effort one can almost always find wild flax and then one can grow their own string... and even wool without sheep.
Weird stuff like Phantom membranes should righteously be difficult or awkward to make. But everyday things like wood, string, grass, etc. should not be. Generally that is true, but string is a stand out exception.
