Hi Bailey, I majored in oil painting at uni and I know you said you dont usually use solvents but I notice you dont have proper ventiliaton in your room! You can have a look at some information online but I'd suggest windows open and fans or vents - especially if you are leaning over your painting like in a skethchbook. Another thing you can do is put the sketchbook in another room near window to dry instead of leaving it in the same room you are in all the time. Sorry for the unsolicited advice but just want to make sure you are looking after your health
I’ve been lurking on the channel for a few years now and I get so excited every Friday to watch the vlogs, it’s like sitting down with a friend every week Edit: that plant painting is SO GOOD I know it’s just a sketch but I would love to buy a print of that👀
I love the way you asked your cats if it was treat time and then the next frame was a plate with a huge bacon wrapped chicken breast with sides. I was like Damn! those cats eat good!!! 🤣🤣
I been gessoing pages in my sketchbook for awhile. It started as a way to cover up alcohol marker bleed through; but, now I’m using it for planning paintings, doing color swatches, and just playing with techniques. I love it!
OMG, I used to obsess over you as a child and i’ve just stumbled across your page again!! It’s so weird to see you after all these years and i hope you’re doing amazing 💖💖
I LOVE the second drawing soooo much!!! It's very colourful and beautiful. The first one was also fun to watch cause it's not normally your style but I also love how that one turned out. BEAUTIFUL WORK!!!
I love how your like wait what’s this in this jar and in this tub like is that just a generic artist thing having mysterious liquids in jars or not knowing what things are cause u don’t label them 😂
I love you. Truly. I just had a heart surgery and everything is a bit scary, so, I love that, when I’m having a bad day your videos always makes me feel better. Your structure in so, so, so calming. From the bottom of my healing heart, thank you. Oh, and I love the gesso on the cream paper😍
Hi, if you want to prevent a spread in your sketchbook to stick together, you can just add a protective sheet, like war paper before closing your sketchbook, that works for me, I usually tape the waxpaper down on the other sie with washi tape, that way, the wax paper does not fall off, when I turn the page, love your work ^^
If you want a solvent free method for faster drying of your oil paints, try mixing powdered chalk with linseed oil, it will make a putty that will absorb the oil in the paint so it dries faster! Using it I've had oils dry in a day or two once I learned the proper ratio! (2 parts chalk mix to 1 part paint) and it doesn't distort the color at all!
You're so talented!! I have always wanted to try painting with oil paints....although I am not very artistic and don't even really paint to begin with... but you just make it look so effortless and beautiful! maybe someday I will actually try it out. I enjoy watching your content so much!! it's very soothing and relaxing for me. Like I said, I think you're such a talented artist and just love your style!!
Hullo Baylee! I have had nasty brushes and I have found that floating them in solvent loosens the glue in the ferrule and hairs start falling out when you start using them! You can use MASTERS Brush cleaner Soap, wash the brushes as best as you can, coat the bristles with the cleaner and goop it on thick! Then set the brush out on a towel flat, wait hours or days, then wash again and depending on how thick and gunky they were, you might need to do it again and the soap cleans and conditions! If you paint with oils paint on paper if you do not use gesso or use an oil paper (Arches sell some) Oil paint will "eat" paper! you might need to gesso both sides! Well if you want it to last more than a few months! Double coat the front side for sure! I enjoy this kind of content from you! Wonderful portrait painting!! I hope you keep going and work those "sketchbooks"!
Oh Survivor season 1 was something else! You’re going to love it. I remember we had a company meeting, and there was a scavenger hunt after. Everyone rushed thru it to get home to watch Survivor. The one huge thing about season 1 was it was the first time networks realized that they could get huge audiences airing new programming in the summer. Up until that time summer was pretty much just reruns. BTW, have you considered making bookmarks to match your planner pages and washi tapes?
Hi! I don’t normally comment and I’m sure you probably already know this but plastic is a porous material so please don’t use that funnel for anything in your kitchen now. It will have absorbed some of that liquid 🫠
As a chemist seeing a bunch of jar of hazardous liquids unlabeled, seeing you using a cooking utensils to funnel the galkyd without gloves was very upsetting .... PLEASE ! PLEASE label your jars. And please never use again that funnel in your kitchen. I hope that you did not rinse it in the sink... I would recommend wiping it with a coton saturated with acetone first (while wearing latex gloves). A couple time. Let the solvent evaporate out of reach of your cats (like windowsill ) . Wipe a second time with a cotton saturated with water Then you can rinse it under the sink. But even after that don't use it for cooking. Plastic are kinda porous materials....
Its so wild watching you put that jar of pickled eggs in your paint cart because I've been rewatching all your vlogs in order and I JUST watched the vlog where you tried pickled eggs for the first time omg????
