  • It is a Satriya Dance form based on the childhood of lord krishna. Another name of this dance is Lobonu suri nritya, the dance of little krishna as curd stelaer or thief. Traditionally, this dance is performed in different forms during the Ankiya naat and Jhumuras of Madhadeva. There are other forms of this krishna nritya too, e.g Goshain probesh, Bor probesh, etc.
This dance is divided into 2 parts: 1. Bajanar nas accompanied by the song and 2.Slokar nas, which is similar like the kavits of kathak. Traditonally, this dance is performed in Ektaal ( 8 beats/cycle ) but after becoming a performing art it has been set to Sutataal ( 4 beats/cycle).
