Looks really good! I’ve got an older mercury (92) Black max... I’m wanting to paint that cover! Did you do any sanding or buffing on the clearcoat or did you just let it dry real good and sticker this up? On mine it would look better if I just painted it black without clearcoat but I would like for it to look somewhat better than just a coat of paint. I’ll be happy if it just looks decent.
OG if you buy original mercury paint (its enamel paint), then you don't need clear coat but if you use acrylic auto paint then you need a good clear coat, and yes you need to buff or sand with 2500 to 3000 grit wet sand else you will get orange skin look. I personally prefer acrylic, quick dry time.
