    When playing in cooler weather in Canada I always carry a ball in a inner pocket keeping it warm which I will use whenever I can change the ball when allowed by winter rules and on the tee. Allowing me to hit a softer feeling ball for the next shot.

    I would say that the heap of tree cuttings is an immovable obstruction, rather than ground under repair. An area of GUR is one defined by the committee. As an immovable obstruction, it still qualifies for free relief as an abnormal course condition (Rule 16), although there will of course be no defined drop zone.

    at 8:50. Is this correct? Hannah does not appear to be "excessive" in her stance.
    The R&A states "Any temporary accumulation of water on the surface of the ground (such as puddles from rain or irrigation or an overflow from a body of water) that:
    Is not in a penalty area, and Can be seen before or after the player takes a stance (without pressing down excessively with his or her feet).
    It is not enough for the ground to be merely wet, muddy or soft or for the water to be momentarily visible as the player steps on the ground; an accumulation of water must remain present either before or after the stance is taken."

      @nationalclubgolfer  2 года назад

      He didn't give me relief as I had to press down excessively with my feet before water appeared.

  • @mrb9849
    @mrb9849 2 года назад +3

    just a quick question. if your nearest point of relief is a bunker fir playing from a wrong green do you drop it in the bunker or look for another nearest point of relief

    • @nationalclubgolfer
      @nationalclubgolfer  2 года назад +2

      Nearest point of relief has to be in the general area, the bunker isn’t in the general area so you would find somewhere else 👍🏼

    Very informative, thank you. I had a situation yesterday where my ball was in a steep bank with thick rough adjoining the green. The ball was buried. If I took a drop - two club lengths with a one shot penalty the nearest point of relief (no nearer the hole) would be on the green itself. Is this acceptable?

    • @bantoniplakantry9138
      @bantoniplakantry9138 Год назад

      For unplayable relief (one shot penalty) there is no nearest point of complete relief. It's just within two club-lengths, but it can't be nearer the hole. If that ends up being on the green, then that's fine.

  • @iiredeyeiiredeye1569
    @iiredeyeiiredeye1569 4 месяца назад +1

    This for me is the one area where the rules of golf need changing. IMO you should be able to play preferred lies anywhere through the green (closely mown areas, fairway, and green) throughout the year. Why is a player allowed to mark lift and clean on the green but not on the fairway? If a player hits a ball onto the fairway...(where he is meant to hit it) He should be entitled to find a clean ball sitting in a playable lie, and not in someone else's unrepaired divot, or as is very frequent in my area in early Spring covered in mud. I firmly believe and always have done that this is one of the most unfair and unnecessarily penal rules of golf, and the interesting thing is the higher the standard of competition, the more relevant this becomes because at the highest levels of the game the players all hit the ball into the same area, causing a concentration of damage for those following to try and negotiate there way around. I would really like to see this changed.

    What's the ruling if you mark with a tee, drop, and the ball hits the tee? Common sense says no penalty and drop again but what's the right thing to do.

    • @nationalclubgolfer
      @nationalclubgolfer  2 года назад

      If the ball stays inside the club length and is no nearer the hole you are fine to just play it as it lies! But yes no penalty for hitting the tee

    With a temporary green in use, if your ball is on the main green do you have to take relief. If you were to putt the ball eg over the apron to the temp green and therefore cause no damage to the main green would this be allowed? Thanks
