3:56 is 'vicious circle' of course... damn keys that are next to another! :D If you enjoyed this video, feel free to share it! Big thanks to anyone who does, it really helps the channel! :)
The bridge is incredibly relatable when taken metaphorically. He's going to 'remain lying down' - He's accepted his fate and isn't going to try and fight it. 'And again I'm counting the flies' - Flies are associated with things that are dirty which is likely how he sees himself. But they're also associated with corpses which will be relevant to the last two lines. 'Lustless I touch myself' - He's performing the physical act but can't bring himself to feel anything. It's like he's dead inside. 'I've been cold for a while now' - this could be a double meaning. He's emotionally cold but it also ties in with the imagery of being dead inside. Cold like a corpse. He's been like this for a while and he's just realising. 'I'm cold, so cold' - this line just captures the horror of the realisation.
I've been a fan of Rammstein from high school, (grad 2007) and I love your breakdowns, helping my interpretations and learning of the language and its intricacies. You're fulfilling a very niche corner of the stratosphere, and I appreciate it very much! Thank you!
Teufelskreis (lit. "devil's cycle/circle") = vicious cycle (a negative series of events that build on and reinforce each other) große Tiere (lit. "big animals") = big shots (important or influential people)
Cool. Thats what we call " breaking it down, Barney Style" ............ Barney being that evil purple kids dinosaur. Explaining it at a very detailed and simple level.
I found this video because I was looking for a translation to Keine Lust. This was so much better! I liked learning about the idioms, expressions, and double meaning. Super interesting! Thank you. 😊😊
Because of your video's I found my love for the German language again. I learned it in school, but it quickly became very boring because of all the rules of the language. These video's are incredibly educational and I love it!
I really like yr channel I used 2 b able 2 speak Deutsche very well as a kid bcuz me grandma was Deutsche but of course after her death many many decades ago I have lost most of it do 2 the passage of time
It reminds me of depression and self hatred, It becomes part of you, to the point it has a life while your on the side lines, Like many things in life your rarely beat it but if your lucky you find ways to deal with it Ich bin ausländer und du hast mich Diolch from wales uk
i'm trapped in a depressive teufelskreis rn and knowing till suffers from depression i'd say it's a safe bet to assume that the underlying meaning of the song is, well, struggling with depression i studied german for 5 years in high school but we never got real far because our teacher was a native german speaker and tended to take most things for granted while to us italian kids who knew nothing of the language things seemed huge i started hyperfixating on rammstein like. two months before i finished high school. which helped me but damn i wish i started hyperfixating sooner hsjfjajks i haven't given up on learning the language yet and your videos are so interesting to me both as a rammstein fan and as a german student great work! 🖤
I have a bipolar disorder and that song pretty much sums up whats in my head all the time. Realizing what is wrong and not being able to fix it. Despair. Then hope. Then the fall because the hope was crushed YET AGAIN, by MYSELF! And then it starts all over. Then there are times where a single thought highjacks your mind and plays over and over like a broken record and you cant even hear yourself think. At those moments you want to literally smash your head into the wall to make it stop. And when its stop you sink into yourself exhausted and wish its just over, forever. You gain new strength and energy. And then you are the king of the world who can archive anything, no matter how insane the task might be. But when reality kicks back in, it aims for your balls.
I always though "leaving the snow" meant giving up cocaine, but indeed if they were on that then they wouldn't have problems with motivation Great video!
So glad I found this channel. I'm not so much interested in speaking German as I am in wanting to have a deeper understanding of Rammstein songs. Have you covered Ich Tu Dir Weh? That is probably my favorite song right now. The riffs, lyrics, and imagery in the video are just so so dark and good.
This song hits so god damned hard during the Pandemic.... its so hard to wake up and do things... like getting out of bed can be so hard and leave you feeling so damned cold. Cold in the case of the song by the by seems to be referring to the emotional Cold which idk if it carries that same context in german as it does english but like in english to feel "Cold" often means to feel "Numb" or "Distant".
Cognitive functions wise, I'm sure there is a few others, but ADHD paralysis comes to mind, or at least the way you described it with being trapped and you know what you have to do but you just can't and ugh the song becomes more and more relatable by the second 😂
Happy New Year Dave😊🍾🥂 fingers crossed for a better year this year! Another great video, thank you 😊 what is your favourite song from the Rosenrot album? (If I'm remembering right, keine lust comes from that album!)
Thanks Dave! Very interestng. I have seen several videos of the song, in some of them Till is sniffing while talking about the snow ( Schnee) maybe refering to some addiction. Does it have sense.? I am spanish speaker, but in some movies some characters talk about the snow, for cocaine... Could be some paralelism in German? Vielen Dank,!!
Not quite, it's the lyrical I that seems to be stuck in a repetitive motion of 'lustlessness' and lack of joy / interest in actively pursuing things / life. The lyricist can, but doesn't have to equal the lyrical I (which may as well be a made-up person).
3:56 is 'vicious circle' of course... damn keys that are next to another! :D

The best description of depression in a song!
The Bridge breaks my heart, you can feel the conflict and self-hatred manifest into a chilling, empty climax.

This was a fun video to start the year with. I enjoyed the breakdown of the lyrics. Vielen Dank und frohes neues Jahr.
Excelente video!
Two things that I love, Rammstein and German language. Thanks!
Thank you for all of your informative videos! I have been trying to learn the German language and enjoy watching them!

Happy New Year Dave and fans! I hope 2021 is better then 2020 but we shall see.
i just want to take a moment to compliment how beautiful and creative is your content thanks so much!!
One of the best songs about depression imo
Thank you!
Just a note on English: an electric chair is a tool for executions, what he was driving is a mobility scooter.
Yep. 'Electronic chair' would probably be fitting better (same distinction in German: elektrisch v elektronisch) :)

Close! It's on 'Reise, Reise', but technically, both albums were written around the same time. :)
@@DefinitelyGerman ah yes I remember 😊 hope you're having a good Saturday so far!

Definitely a possible motif! It would also correlate with other lyrics by Till, I'd say:)
Happy new year 2021 to everyone🙂🙂

OH!
This the kind problem I have generally with myself.
So your saying the band rammstein is not sure what they want?
Not quite, it's the lyrical I that seems to be stuck in a repetitive motion of 'lustlessness' and lack of joy / interest in actively pursuing things / life. The lyricist can, but doesn't have to equal the lyrical I (which may as well be a made-up person).
