Supermarine Spitfire is one of my favourite planes as well as the P51D Mustang which is my number one overall. And just listen to the fantastic sound of those roaring Merlin engines I love it
gotta love how the red arrows kept formation with one another and synchronized movements i bet it took a hell of a lot of training to keep flight formation aswell
11:34 that sudden spectacular split really got me attention prior to the back 3 doing a simular move ! made me surprised and speechless kinda makes me even favor cogi's first brewers red arrow themed step entrance dennis dart model bus a bit more now
Great footage! I used to be a regular visitor and I never regretted the round trip from Antwerp. This year the weather too was a performer, with perfect cloud and lighting. A pity Miss Velma didn't make it back to the runway...
No it hasn't. It's a purely UK based show that is put on by The Fighter Collection (TFC) who are based at Duxford. Since 2019 the show has not been held because the agreement with Duxford to hold the show there was allowed to lapse (there's some unknown economics and politics somewhere behind that decision I think?). TFC announced last month that the show will return this year in July, to be held at Leeds East Airport (recently and formerly RAF Church Fenton). I'm not aware of any similar 'warbird heavy' shows in Canada but an sure that there are some in the USA hosted by the Commemorative Air Force at various locations.
Supermarine Spitfire along with Hawker Hurricane are the famous fighter planes that saved British from German’s Luftwaffe attack to London during the legendary Battle of Britain in 1941. Spitfire and Hurricane fought hard against Luftwaffe’s Messerschmitt Bf-109, Focke Wulf Fw-190. All British fighter planes are powered by Rolls Royce engines while all Luftwaffe fighters are powered by Mercedes or BMW engines
Joey - Thanks. It certainly is Ray Hanna's old mount. Shuttleworth are holding some airshows over the next few months and have already held 2 'socially distanced' Drive-In shows - see here - www.shuttleworth.org/events/airshows/ plus IWM Duxford are holding a Battle of Britain show on 18/19 September - www.iwm.org.uk/airshows (plus an evening event on 17/9) and also have 'showcase days' with about 2 hours of flying - tomorrow 4/8 and 19/8 - www.iwm.org.uk/events/showcase-days (free entry for members to showcase days).
Thankyou, my pleasure. I'm pleased that you enjoyed it. I'm still working on more to come from 2017 and plan to do more during 2018, but sadly I won't be covering Flying Legends this year as it clashes with RIAT.
There is an interview here with Stefan Karwowski standing in front of the very same Bearcat as the one in this film, although the aircraft number and ID has changed since. Looking at the background I'm pretty sure that the interview would have been done at one of the Great Warbirds Airshows in the early 80's at West Malling in Kent, sadly now a housing estate. ruclips.net/video/_qJIo-9yOgI/видео.html
High Flight Thank you very much for the Stefan Video, made my day. I have the obituary from Stephen Grey ( they were good friends) I just read it and got sentimental over it ....crazy when it's 30 years on!
There's nothing wrong with memories or sentimentality. It's good that those who have gone before and did 'good works' are remembered by those that they 'touched' with their lives. Sadly far too many 'masters of the air' had their lives cut short doing what they loved. Blue skies to them all.
I just added this comment to the Stefan video Rob Farmer , Hi, I totally agree with you Rob, I have pages in in my photo album of the 80s with photos and tributes to Stefan. When he flew aero in the bearcat it's was incredible. other than Ray Hanna I still do not think I have seen a flying display to the same level. he was good friends with Stephen Gray (bearcat owner). In the obituary Stephen says "that when he last saw Stefan they were working on an idea to spring a mig 21 from an Arab state, paint it pink and terrorise the airshows circuit." I smile to think about it. CHeers
Thankyou. Yes, most of this was filmed from the FoD enclosure. I was using a Sony FDR-AX53 camcorder. It's excellent stabilisation system gives the ability with practice to shoot handheld in 4K.
Well it was not on the same weekend as fairford but unfortunately I didn't go in 2018 same weekend as riat fairford airshow my likes flying legends I been to Duxford air festival 2018 Sunday due to my dads birthday I camped at mildenhall
Duxford is not just about the European Air War and I don’t think has ever been. This airshow has been held for many years. It’s staged by The Fighter Collection who are a company that hire hangar space and base their collection at Duxford. The theme of the show is ‘Flying Legends’. The museum includes many exhibits that are unrelated to wars or the European Air War e.g. prototype Concorde, various British Airliners, USAF Museum including an SR71 Blackbird and many others. The Avenger and Corsair are most definitely not out of place - the rarer the better.

Brilliant. 💪💪💪🇬🇧💯

Thanks for posting. Nice job. And there's something about the sound of a Merlin in a Spitfire...
Do you have a museum that the public can go to that has planes

Travelled all the way from Denmark to be there and it certainly was worth the trip. What a great show !
Nicely done. I'm guessing and hope that you'll return again for another show. Thankyou for viewing too!
Best I have seen yet, Excellent work, very good quality and a lot of effort. Thanks a lot.
Many thanks for your appreciation and for enjoying the film.

Has the Flying Legends ever performed in Canada at all and if so where?

I liked their engines sounds! Can I use them? Because I want to put these sounds in my movie!
Yes, you can use the sounds just for your movie.👍
"MH434" was that the Spit that the Late Ray Hanna flew? Brilliant Footage really missing the airshows this Year

fab!
Bearcat was flown well, nearly as good as Stefan Karwowski used to fly it in the 80s. Blue skies Stef, your not forgotten 👏👏

A superb video - were you filming from the Friends of Duxford enclosure? Excellent quality video, may I ask what video camera you use please? Thanks.

It was a shock again after the Balbo p51 miss Velma crash landing in the field
Yes, it was, but so good that neither the pilot or anybody else was hurt. The plane will be mended. It's currently in USA being worked on I believe?
Yeah I notice he did not die or lucky there was no people on the Field
zv
The worst thing about Flying Legends......that bloody Frenchman talking over all of those wonderful engine sounds!
Unfortunately 'commentators' just don't know when to keep quiet. They think that they are paid per word!
Martin Planes Almost as bad as loud music being played during displays
