My Name is Max and I film while driving cars. No matter if they are old, fast, loud or electric. They need to be special! I had this car back in 98 to replace my e39 523i and before owned a 525i e34. This is the best sedan I ever driven, sure better than my current 435i grancoupe. Would dream to find one new.

I had my fathers e39 528i 1997 . He bought it new i got it in 2003. Mine was 5speed manual. Best 5 series ever

My father bought 528IA in 2000 and this car was in our family till 2007. I had Skoda Octavia 1.8T (2002) and it was rather fast car, faster then 528, but when I drove 528 it was great pleasure to feel that comfort, hear magnificent sound and feel the power of R6. I loved that car.

@@robert_muhin Попаметром :) Это исключительно мои ощущения, тогда, в начале нулевых приборы на подобии рэйслоджика еще не получили широкого распространения. Октавия была легкой, отзывчивой на педаль газа, на обгон выходила стремительно со взрывной динамикой. И это со старой АКПП4. Да, и она была у меня чипованая, примерно до 180 сил (на стенде не проверял). А 528 давала совсем другие эмоции, но ощущалась значительно тяжелее и инертнее, давала гораздо больше комфорта и статуса, но на обгонах я такой уверенности и стремительности как на Октавии не чувствовал

After owning a E39 530D 03/99 for 20 years , bought october this year a E39 528i 12/97 with 480.000 km , 2nd engine with 290.000 km for only € 1000. keeping the 530D for spare parts or selling parts. Have changed all fluids / filters , spark plugs , mounted the lowered new monroe/eibach suspension ex 530D. She is driving like new. Love the E39.

I have the same model with a manual gearbox from 97. I am closing the counter with my own - equal to 250 km. And here it was missing. This car is really fun to drive.

Ahh da kommen die Erinnerungen an die Jugend zurück. 1998 Vaters 528i Limo das Teil lief wie Hölle. Automat mit dem langen 5ten Gang. Das war immer der Hingucker. 250+ Tempomat und die Drehzahl noch gut vom Ende entfernt. Wusste gar nicht das der Touring abgeregelt war.
Original Saab 99 Turbo or 80's 900 Turbo would be nice.

i had a bmw m47 e90 with 320d 163hp, owned it for 14 years, bought at 100,000 km and sold at 400,000 km, i think this is the best engine from the bmw M47
What impressed me about the balance of this specific model was when I got a blowout of a rear tire at 120mph in LA, all I could notice was the car feeling a little loose. I do track race and regularly drove that speed daily and the car never really had an issue.

My dad had one almost exactly like this, deep blue, estate, automatic. It was pretty lazy, because it’s a big car but also very spacious, engine was reliable but few electrical codes here and there. And boy did I always get turned on after 3500 rpm, sound super good

In Germany, you push people out of the left lane with your own speed. And believe it or not, I had moments of people jumping into the left lane while going less than 100km/h, while I was using the no speed limit area. I am not here to brag but to spread awareness. German Autobahn is not a joke, you have a lot of liberty, but you need to be cautious.
Great video. My E39 525i won't go over 220 km/h but it does get there with 205000 km on the clock.

After selling my e39 528 in 2004 I take e60 523i when was new but after few years really I canot forgot the e39 the e60 was with over hitting and more problems I give it to some one ….and I purchase e39 528i from Japan and really I will never change it … I know no more people understand way ????

It's not the top gear, it's the 4th gear - the 3th gear reaches until about 180kmh, and this car has five gears. 😂

my father had one of these when i grew up, when i was 16 i used to take it for a drive when my parents were not home. It had over 300k kilometers on the clock and still running well. Good fun, good memories.

I miss a lot my e39. I own now an e92 but is far away from the quality of e39. You can not respect this car. Is a 20years old car but it will allways turn arround heads on the streets. I really want an e39 back in my life, no matter how bad fuel economy is or how "unreliable" is. Conpared with more new series it is cheap to mantain.

That engine would be torn? I drive my e39 528i on the Autobahn at 160-240 kph regularly, does not harm the engine at all.
