Kanji learning healing skills is something I find incredibly fitting for his character. Healers in video games are very often looked at as a "feminine" role, as can be seen in shooters, mobas, and rpgs, even apparent in Persona 3 and 4 with Yukari and Yukiko. Kanji learning healing skills can be seen as a way of him coming to terms with who he is, regardless of how others may view him, and I think that's just perfect.
i honestly really love the idea of a persona game being given bios in the chuggaaconroy style pokemon bios, great compilation and i'll be watching the p4g playthrough now for sure
Yo, thanks so much for this. You’re super knowledgeable on Persona and Fire Emblem, so I always come to your channel for the bios and stuff, this makes it way easier to find them
Yu: Master of All Protagonist Yosuke: Jack of all trades/Master of None (oof) Chie: Swordmaster with Kicks (Critical Hitter (to the nads)) Yukiko: Red Mage (fittingly) Kanji: Armor Knight Berserker Teddie: Magic Healer Naoto: Late Game Nuke
Perfect timing as I was JUST watching the P4G playthrough. And moments like these along with explaining what the Arcana and Tarot actually mean is really cool. The details and research done for these bios are great. Keep it up.
The bios are some of the best parts of your Persona LPs, which says a lot since they're generally great. Since this is Persona related this isn't QUITE off-topic, but a few days back I met Max Mittleman (Ryuji's VA) and Robbie Daymond (Akechi's VA) at a convention and got them to sign my P5 Royal Art Book. So that was pretty awesome, both were really cool. Also I went in a Spamton NEO cosplay and got SO MANY PHOTO REQUESTS. It was more than a little flattering, but I think I'll go as something more obscure next time I go to a con.
It seems that spamton is a popular cosplay character, it seem he like the tf2 characters, where the characters is quite easy to cosplay but is recognized. Speaking of cosplay the close I have been is doing the tf2 scout and the undertaker(which I didn’t really didn’t had the body for).
That's so cool. I've got Cherami Leigh to sign mine but she's the only one I've met so far, and it's hard to picture any coming to Australia any time soon. (There's some conventions here soon but the only guest I recognise is Veronica Taylor. Although I could get her to sign one of my Micaiah cards? I've actually got a dupe Micaiah SR...) Recently I've seen Robbie Daymond in Critical Role and he's great there. And congrats on the costume. I miss conventions.
@@BigKlingy My friend got one better: He got Max to draw Ryuji's Phantom Thief logo on a print (it cost him more though). Also Robbie drew pancakes on the Akechi page completely unprompted which was super funny.
I almost forgot how on-point the music choices were in these. Shoutouts to including a lot of the Pokémon bike themes, as well as the Okami music. P5’s bios are going to be interesting. I hope these compilations become more commonplace moving forward, and not just Persona ones. Compiling all of the bios from the footage might be a bit of a pain, but I think it’d be worth it. Thinking about it, putting the bios into both the respective video and a separate video project as you finish recording them could save a lot of tedium. Then you’d have all the bios in one project to just move around.
I've already got some.... interesting ideas for the P5 bio music, given that the PTs don't have individual themes yet since there's no P5 Arena. (...Give them time...) I really should do this for every series I do with bios. I was planning on doing this right after finishing the playthrough but didn't for some reason.
@@BigKlingy for whatever it's worth, we'd for sure appreciate compilations like this tbh. Though i feel like Radiant dawn's, path of radiance's and tear ring Saga's videos are going to be very very long
P5 doesn’t really have character themes either, at least for the party. There are some that map pretty well, but that doesn’t apply for everyone. It sounds like an ordeal, but there’s probably some great choices out there. You are a pirate would be a blast from the past for sure. The music choices for bios hasn’t been very memey, but that could change(though they could date things).
Since you asked us to share what we do with Naoto, I'd like to start by saying she was vital to my personal A-team solely because of her sheer versatility. If I remember correctly, my build with her consisted of Tempest Slash, Agidyne, Garudyne, Mudoon, Hamaon, Megidola, Vorpal Blade, and Invigorate 3, and I would've swapped out the physical skills for Bufudyne and Ziodyne if I'd known I could at the time--once again playing into her versatility.
That ending choice of music made me so happy Also, we had a bit of a dumb running joke in one of our persona, four golden play through. In order. We have the protagonist. The best girl, detective prince. The best girl, Kanji And Teddy
This is definitely the best video on persona 4 party members I’ve seen, loved it, but I’d like to put in my 2 cents for Yukiko and Naoto. For Yukiko, I can see your issue with limited skill slot syndrome, but I’ve found that she has more than enough space. For optimal fire damage, you only need burning petals, fire amp and mind charge with a good fire boosting accessory (NOT fire boost, since the game only takes 2 boosts into account). Those plus mediarahan, salvation, evade ice, samarecarm and your choice of fire break or matarunda (neither are really necessary in my mind). Throughout the game she should have space for single target fire and divine grace as well before getting rid of them. Fire break really isn’t necessary since the only boss that she’d really benefit with it is Shadow Naoto. For regular enemies that resist fire, others can pick up the slack so her only being able to use fire really isn’t much of an issue. Now Naoto, she is definitely the queen of random encounters, but her magic damage is actually pretty bad without the Frost Shot gun. Mind charge effectively only acts as a 25% boost, which every other party member has access to for their magic. Of course it’s great that she has it, but all it does is stop her from falling to Kanji or Chie levels of bad magic. Without the Frost Shot, she does less magic damage than Yosuke (or matches him with the best ice accessory from the final dungeon) and with it and the best ice boosting accessory (i.e. her absolute best), she does about what Teddie can achieve with that same accessory. Almighty skills are actually pretty terrible outside of golden hands since they can’t be boosted, so bufudyne is her best skill by far for damage. Many people fall into the trap of mind charge = magic nuke, much like with Chie in the original, who was still weaker than Kanji. This plus her having no real fantastic team support in my opinion makes her not as great as many think, but she’s definitely still a mainstay on casual runs just for that easy random encounter nuking prowess.
Using a fire boosting accessory to free up skill slots for Yukiko... that's a good idea, actually. Although this means you can't give her a Chakra Ring or something else, but it's not like she'll ever run out of SP on her own. Almighty in general got severely nerfed in P4, and I agree than Megidolaon isn't good outside of gold hands. No Boost or Amp does hurt her, I agree, but Shield of Justice in the endgame really helps against some of the later bosses. (Notably Margaret, where it can block her party nuke attacks, and Izanami, who telegraphs World's End by using Tarukaja first every time)
I like keeping Rainy Death on Chie because it has a base crit rate of 35%, which doubles to 70% on rainy days. This is without Apt Pupil as well, which increases it even further.
I finished the game recently but my main strat for the end of the game revolved around using naoto's shield of justice to give the other party members a free turn to buff all stats, and especially since she was the best user of the accessory that halves sp for everything, because even if the enemy didn't attack on that turn the shield would stay up for the next turn which was pretty useful against some of the bosses that kept spamming AOE moves
24:39 The real 3 sacred treasures and also Kusanagi, yasakani and Yata lend their names to the clans of Team Sacred Treasures in The King of Fighters series Kyo Kusanagi Iori Yagami (his clan was originally named the Yasakani Clan) Chizuru Kagura (Yata is her real last name and the name of her clan)
@BigKlingy I'm looking forward to it. Even though I'm very well-versed in Persona 5, I'll watch it all the same. Your videos are what I'd recommend for those who want an in depth look at a game, without buying it for themselves.
"Yosukes healing is only usefull in the beginning" Me using yosuke as healer in the final boss (i wanted to end it with my favorite characters and yukiko and teddie didnt get in even though i like them) 41:19 ok, this ones gonna be weird, but didnt rufina have a similar title
Some things I'd like to say Text walls so beware; Yosuke in OG was infamously good simply for being fast. like yeah he doesn't really do anything that impressive but being generally the fastest party member meant his generalist style let him be a good emergency responder to cure heal or get an a guaranteed knockdown. Golden kinda hurt him in this department because Naoto got buffed from bad to amazing and does the same thing except she's particularly good at what she can do. He used to be great because versatility was a rarity for the roster as it likes a character Like Aigis and Akihiko to fill your team. but everyone is a lot more versatile. Even kanji can heal now so Yosuke's just not bringing anything to the table anymore. I'd argue Yukiko's biggest issue is just she's in a post 3 game. Sp is super vital for getting through dungeons without wasting days. As the main healer her main utility costs SP, her only way to attack, costs SP, and Persona 4 is game that does NOT encourage using Sp even ignoring how strong physical is. Her reliance on sp for everything means she's kind of a liability. You want her primarily for patching people up so her fire attacks generally don't see that much use. It's a lot like morgana except she's in a game that heavily disincentives swapping out party member. This also makes her a pain in the original because her value is all endgame and she's part of the first full party. overall she's just a pain to invest in and it's pretty easy to dump her considering the next party member is one of the best in the game. Kanji's bulk still helps a lot because this means he's generally last priority for heals. If you run the first three party members and get hit by something big, you need to multi heal no question. But depending on Yu's persona if you were to say swap Chie with Kanji Yosuke could heal himself and Yukiko herself for cheap while kanji and Yu could still be fine. Also it lets Kanji's mortal blow skill help a lot more than usual because he'll generally still be fine after taking the bullet for Yu where most party members are kinda gonna die. Though realistically t's mainly helpful for bosses so you never get caught in a bad position where kanji could easily die compared to other party members who in the same situation will need a heal. Another big thing a bout Kanji is just his versatility. He gets Amp and Boost so if he needs to use it his magic is pretty fine, he gets a party heal which at his lower speed means he can be a safety net to get people back to safer numbers and he attacks in the best way possible with physical meaning he's sp efficient and on top of that he generally will always have some sp for when you need it because he's only spending it when it matters unlike say Yu Yukiko or Teddie. He's got reverse too many moves syndrome where he only needs like 3 slots for magic options 1 for power charge and 1-2 physical options so you've got about 2 slots in your movelist open for the nicer things. Despite bein denser then steel in more ways then one he's pretty flexible and is good in literally every situation despite not even being a paladin esc character like Akihiko was in 3 or makoto is in 5. I say Kanji lacking multi hits doesnt matter. He's usually the slowest in your party so when he gets up you've likely cleaned up hordes and he'll be able to murder the last guy left. One thing worth noting is that Rise's sp regen while amazing is in the 60's. You're most definitely not getting this before all the party members so its impact isnt as helpful as it could be. but thats just good design. Yeah Naoto wasn't just weak she's like a text book example of the bad last party member. Emeralda and Amarant this was not. She couldn't do really anything, Light and Dark are too chance based in a game where the generic enemy can still kick your ass, Megido skills just sucked as they didnt get a boost or amp skill to make their damage actually good further showing how much better physical is as it lets kanji and chie be a constant wave of damage while naoto gets 3 mediorcre shots, she had three dungeons to be used and joined right when you probably built your final team in a game that again does not encourage building your reserves. She was awful to use because she didn't do anything. Golden making her the utility queen really makes her significantly more useful. Borderline overpowered because she really invalidates the need to care about elemental attacks. Just let her down everything and by this point sp stops being something you have to be a cheapskate over and if they live just punch them all.
I had a long reply to this but accidentally refreshed the page and lost it. Basically, I agree with everything you said. I've heard a lot say that Yosuke really suffered in Golden since everyone else got various buffs while he stayed mostly the same. The SP issues are a good point for Yukiko. Didn't think about it like that but needing to spend SP to do damage is a huge issue early on. At least her follow-up is automatic Dizzy... that's actually weirdly one of the best things about her for a while. (Although Chie's follow-up just yeets one enemy outright...) For a long time 90% of Persona 4 playthroughs I saw just used the initial 3 until Naoto joined, then replaced Yosuke with her, so Kanji never got used despite being amazing. He didn't get Power Charge in vanilla though, I wonder how much that hurt him.
@@BigKlingy Considering Yusuke was unanimously considered the worst party member in P5 almost solely because Ryuji got Charge while he didn't, AND Kanji having no AoE Physical attacks...
@@BigKlingy surprisingly not that much. You sorta used both him and chie so she did the big 10/10 damage while kanji did the consistent 8/10 damage. It kinda just worked out because being a wizard was deemed uncool in 4 because of how insanely good physical became and sp management being much more important. It helps that with yosuke you only have to cover fire for them, which has tons of incredible options so oh screw me I gotta use SURT or BLACK FROST god how terrible so you just hurt constantly like you’re the embodiment of life and can cover everything you’ll need.
@@SomeAsian he was generally one of the best. Again golden made people way more well rounded with what they could do and kanji was effective at everything to a degree so he just always was useful. Plus like I said his slow speed helped as he’d usually go last in your crew so he wouldn’t be banking on aoe attacks when you’ve had the others down or clean up the enemies.
People mainly play 4’s initial characters because of the no bench exp. Especially blind are you dumping kanji for chie or teddie for yukiko? I mean, I did so bad example but the starting 3 are serviceable and training a new guy essentially means the person you drop is never getting used again and that’s not exactly something you wanna test when you got your ass kicked to the first mini boss.
I always these kind of videos when all the bios are in one place and I can't wait to see more of them. It was my birthday on the 30th and the game I decided to get was Trails of Cold Steel probably because I really liked the Sky the 3rd LP and I wanted to give the series a go myself and it has been quite fun to play so far. Since this LP, I have played Persona 5 Royal, SMT 5 and Persona 1 so it is safe to say that I really like SMT probably because of this P4G LP. Masao Inaba's Susano-o might be one of my favourite Susano-o's design wise. The skeleton look is really eye catching. Chie would probably have Sword Dance if she was in Persona 5 and that made me realise that her playstyle is kind of similar to Kasumi. I am glad that I got to play Okami too since a lot of the mythology overlaps. I do wonder why Take-Mikasuchi holds two swords in its SMT artwork. I assume it has something to do with ightning. I am using Take-Mikasuchi in Persona 1 at the moment and he is a Hieorphant Persona in that game. In terms of combat, Naoto is probably my favourite due to her large versatility in terms of magical offence and my favourite Pokémon also learns a large variety of Special Attacks too so I sense a correlation. That also means Naoto is definitely pog.
Funny thing I about to start my persona 1 playthrough after smt if/persona 0. I have heard good thing about persona 1, but I heard the gameplay is a little slow and cyprtic, but recently play smt if. Smt if is decent for what it is, but I only recommend if a bit of hardcore megmai tensei fan(who thought domain of sloth and envy were good level desgin).
@@starmaker75 I ended up liking Persona 1 a lot more than I expected probably but I will admit that there was a good amount of things I needed to learn. I assume that SMT if will feel like an old school Megaten game.
With all the things I've learned recently about P1 I really want to try it, even if its gameplay is awkward. The story is really starting to interest me, in that it seems to really lean into the psychological aspects and might be Trails in the Sky The 3rd-like.
@@BigKlingy After playing it, I can see the SEBEC route being Sky the 3rd like. I feel Sky the 3rd executes its ideas better but for a much older game, Persona 1 does a really good job. I can't wait to LP Persona 1 after my Emerald LP.
As much as I love Yukiko as Party Member, I prefer Teddie on the long run.. Like you said, Teddie has more stuff to do if his Ice Skill is blocked.. Matarukaja, Marakukaja, Marakunda, Dekunda.. But, his downside is no Salvation.. Having Mediarahan and Amrita, is using 2 slot, and if we discard Amrita, we must rely on Items for ailment (or MC skills)
think a problem with teddie is that with how the video says that yukiko has the issue of something mediocre if your not planning out the build correctly, teddie has this problem but worse as you have the buffs and no salvation so you have even more skills to to pick, this doesn't help with his lower sp so he could burn out if your not careful
Well this was a nice trip down memory lane. I really enjoyed your P4G playthrough, so it was nice going over the cast again and seeing what they can do. I've yet to play P4G myself (blame my laptop for hating steam apparently, the prick), but it did get me into the overall Megaten series by trying out the games that I could with me getting into SMTIV via a Christmas gift. So I have that to thank you as well Klingy as well as thanking you for that great LP as well. Thanks for that. In other news, I was able to beat the final boss of SJR on Old Neutral. Won't give my thoughts on the game overall since I need to finish up New Neutral now. However I will say that besides being greatly over leveled (93), that boss was still able to give me a good show and despite the power spike I've given myself, was still incredibly worried about the final boss using certain moves and utterly screwing me over (and that was BEFORE I learned about their scariest move I somehow avoided). Really liked how the fight goes and one of its gimmicks that rewards careful team building (plus I also liked the final team I had and how the ones I cared for the most got to most relevant ones in that fight, though I do kind of dislike I wasn't able to get a variety of more elements and tunneled on almighty stuff). Overall, nice having a final boss who isn't a push over when you're over leveled. Anyway, will probably be working towards New Neutral later or tomorrow. Spoiler Warning for a game I'm doing NG+ on... And for Triangle Strategy I've done one of the battles I was most worried about doing as I was doing; To the Bitter End. So to explain why this fight is bad for me, it's because I'm going for a secret item you get if NO allies (barring the fake copies a character can make of herself and any "deaths" override by auto-revive skills) die during your run. Never go for this item on your first playthrough as it's personally FAR too much trouble to get and is for NG+ shenanigans. But since I am on NG+ and tempted to 100% the game, I figured why not, especially since this will be the last easy chance I'll allow myself to get it as I'm playing this NG+ run on normal and then making the rest on Hard Mode. So why does this chapter suck in the context of this run, don't you need to keep all your guys alive? Notice my previous word choice: *Allies* not my units. This means for this reward, you also need to keep alive ANY GREEN UNITS as well and To the Bitter End has by far the one of the most suicidal green units I've seen in a game, only outdone by the top right villager in Scenario 3 of the Langrisser 1 part of the Langrisser 1&2 remake and the frikin Herp Derp Villagers from Paralogue 3 in Awakening. Yes, it's *THAT BAD* and gets worse since usually this NPC will rush down from safe straight into enemy lines, including the most deadly of that map's two bosses. In my first run of he game, he got himself killed off in just two of his actions. Not helping is how this map has: A boss who hits stupidly hard (and has a ranged attack they can freely spam), spark mages (who hit like damn trucks and can paralysis units), and how this ally has no sense of direction, opening themselves a lot for back attacks, which translates to a crap ton of damage being done to him. Naturally I was scared of this map and was dreading it, but last minute, I thought of a dumb plan that worked for long enough. Basically what I did was use the teleporting Quietnus (special abilities you can only use a limited number of per battle) to move him on top of the other roof one half of your army starts near, and had the ice mage use ice wall to lock him into that spot for several turns, basically putting him in time out. It worked for awhile, but eventually the walls melted and he was rushing into stuff and I nearly lost him at least three times (and WOULD have lost him and had to reset the map at least once since thankfully between me forgetting to use the In Tandem Quientus (make x unit's turn right after current unit's) on the ice mage and me throwing back the enemy he immediately causing him move closer to the timeout area, it meant I had enough for Restore (50% HP recovery + status removal) which saved his life at least once). However most of the stuff that could kill him was either dead or were more focused on my guys by that point, which made the rest of the map so much easier. Still it was very stressful (especially since I thought I accidentally soft locked the game at one point by having the last enemy die on their turn due to crashing into one of my guys because of a trap and had to redo that entire fight, but thankfully I only needed to end my next unit's turn to end the map proper). Excluding a chapter I've received slight spoilers on, that was the hardest part of the run done on the first try. But to emphasize what was needed to win it... Dumb Luck (especially when me botching my own plan made it work), three out of five of my quitenus points you're allowed to spend per map (one of which was my emergency heal), three dragon shield (think Earth Wall from Trails) uses on him (one of which was SOLELY for himself), and multiple of my healing items, including one of my panacea pellets (think Full Restore from Pokemon, except relatively more expensive and harder to acquire). Yeah glad to see that map over with. Have no frikin idea how one could do that map deathless on a fresh save and not NG+ where you get all of your units at full power and your best tools. End.
For some reason, this Persona 4 LP led me to commenting which also led to my LPs as well as trying other games in the series so I owe this series a lot. After this LP, I ended up playing Persona 5 Royal, SMT 5 and Persona 1. Good going on that final boss and it was interesting to hear that it wasn't a pushover. I am still curious to hear what demons you decided to go with for that fight and good luck with the New Neutral ending. That battle sounds really painful. We shouldn't forget the green units in Chapter 20 in Sacred Stones since I have video evidence of how bad they are. Good to hear that you overcame it despite the odds not being in your favour and I hope for the best in your NG+ run, moving on. As for me, more Trails of Cold Steel but first lets think about a few things. It is kind of cool that this playthrough of mine kind of carries on the story that Klingy left behind with Sky the 3rd so I will be on the lookout for the key players that were present in Star Door 8. I am going to assume that in Sky SC and FC, you visited towns and these towns had NPCs you interacted with and some of them would give sidequests too. I mention this because starting by watching Sky the 3rd is strange since you don't do those things but in Cold Steel, you do. Anyways, onto what I did. I started Chapter 1 and decided to explore the school. This game takes place in a military academy like Three Houses. That basically summarises what I did. At the end, I was acquainted with what a typical day in the game is like. I have to do some required tasks but there are also unrequired tasks that I have to do as well as sidequests too. Finally, I can also spend basically activity points to view bonding events which I assume are like supports in Fire Emblem so next time, I will need to decide who Rean is going to bond with. Outside of the battles, this game does remind me of the modern Personas and Three Houses a lot and since I like both of those games a fair amount, I think me and Cold Steel will get along just fine. Last, I probably won't talk about the main plot that much because I know you also want to get into Trails so keeping the story a surprise for you should be fun.
@@BerserkerRohan Interesting to hear how this LP has influenced you as well. Certainly did a lot for you too. Many thanks. I'll post most of my team below, but I'll leave a vague spoiler warning before talking about it once I address the other points. Yeah, that fight is frustrating, though thanks to NG+, it becomes so much more manageable because of just how close you are to full power and all the tools you have by then. Those green units in Sacred Stones' Chapter 20 are the palace guard right? Keeping them alive is annoying as well since their survival does impact the rewards you can get by that chapter's end. Thankfully there, once you get good choke points in the north and south entrances going, it's much easier to save them. Nice to hear you've been enjoying Cold Steel so far. Also yes, FC and SC also had you visiting towns and interacting with fleshed out NPCs. This was one reason why you would hear BigKlingy call The 3rd the black sheep of the series/why some people didn't like its more dungeon crawler nature since one of the best aspects of the Trails series in general is its world building and how utterly alive the world feels. This is especially true with the towns and NPCs since they all feel so grounded and how practically (unless CS changes this) 95% of the NPCs all have names and their own little stories going on during your adventure. While The 3rd is still great and further fleshes out Zumeria, it's not entirely unfounded for why some didn't like how there were no towns and NPCs to interact with. I already knew about the military academy structure that's present in Cold Steel, but it is interesting hearing more of how the mechanics of it work more specifically. Glad you're getting along with Cold Steel thus far. Also many thanks for keeping me spoiler free as well. Some SJR Spoiler Warnings for anyone passing by... So for my team, I made roughly 13-14 demons for the fight (I had a few left over demons I couldn't fuse away and they could help if need be), but I'll only be listing the relevant ones who got to do stuff. Opening Line Up: Masakado, Shiva, and Vishnu. Masakado (Neutral): He's here mainly as my main Debilitate user for the first part of the fight. He puts in good damage with Occult Flash and if during the second half of the fight the boss switched to have a gun weakness, he could have gone to town with Fleeting Rain. He also nulls Hama and Mudo (making him safe from most instant death attacks; Practically every demon here has this as well), and he resists everything else but gun, but makes him able to weather any attack the boss can throw at him. (Also main reason why I grinded to 92 before, especially since I had to be 91 to get...) Shiva (Chaos): Main damage dealer of the party next to the MC as I had Shiva spam Madness Crush. However, he also has Antichthon to set up debuffs as well and he is my main Luster Candy user. He's also near invincible for this fight since he can only get harmed by Ice, Wind, and Almighty from the boss (as he drains physical, fire, and elec), but if he did happen to die, he naturally has enduring soul and I got endure on him without meaning to. Vishnu (Neutral): The main healer of this party as he's my Salvation user. Mainly had him defend for most of the fight until Salvation was needed since the boss (and the main reason I was still scared of them) has a move to inflict Rage, a stronger version of charmed that can only be cured by the Armita items/spell and Salvation. Vishnu was there to stop it, though if he got inflicted with it as the same time as the MC, I was going to have a ton of trouble. Also him having Repel Physical (natural) and Repel Fire (Inherited) was nice to deal back damage to the boss. Second Phase: Metatron (Law): One of my main Debilate and Luster Candy users who also resists most of the boss's attack except physical. Managed to also get Null Dark on him since the one of the source I was lucky enough for its "B" skill to be Luster Candy was on a source that naturally had Null Dark too. He was mainly support until the right amount of buffs where set and he then went to Megidolaon Spam. Huang Long (Chaos): Another Debilitate User, but instead focuses on offense with Megidoloan and Maziodyne. An emergency pocket healer with Diarahan and he resists practically all non-almighty attacks from the boss. Mother Harlot (Neutral): Barring fire (which I kind of regret not having more users of since I only had three, one of which was only intended for the fight), she was practically my Swiss Army Knife since she could hit with every other type of attack in the game, making her able to strike most of the boss' weaknesses at any point. Trumpeter (Neutral): Mainly here as another attacker as he could hit things really hard with Elec (used the Zeus source on him to give him Thunder Reign and Elec Amp; Also Null Physical since I got lucky with the Source's "B" skill), Megidolaon, and Occult Flash (also from the same source) since there's oddly only a one point difference between his physical and magic stats. Amaterasu (Law): The only realistic fire user I actually prepared for (I had two others, but they lacked instant death protection). While she could deal great fire damage, she was mainly on Debilitate and Salvation Duty. As for why I included their alignments, to leave so suspense to the boss, during the second half of the fight (clear to tell when it starts), the boss has something nasty prepared to use for anyone trying to take advantage of co-op attacks on them, so having a larger than normal party with a variety of aliments helps a ton. I had another seven ready just in case, but they weren't needed at all. End.
@@jaredfayette2567 Indeed it did. They were the palace guard and I really hated the fact that they would suicide into enemies for no good reason. Despite that, Sky the 3rd is still a great game but it nice to see for myself, the traditional things that people like in the Trails series. Just like Sky FC and SC, it does feel like 95% of the NPCs feel fleshed out here too. It will be fun interacting with these mechanics next play session. I will probably go more in detail about combat but I will still keep the identity of the bosses a mystery too. Sounds like you have a really powerful party that was also full of some of my favourites too. You also came really prepared too. I do have an idea of how the co-op attacks work and it is interesting that this boss tries to switch things up and punish you for relying on it.
I'll just say, I'm glad you're enjoying Cold Steel but maybe don't compare it to Three Houses. It significantly pre-dated that game (CS1 originally came out in 2013), and it really bothers me that CS3's marketing on Switch made it look like a cheap Three Houses ripoff, when it's actually a very different kind of game.
@@BigKlingy Sorry about that. That wasn't my intention since I do like Three Houses quite a bit. I wouldn't have played it for 400+ hours if I didn't like it.
I have come back here now because I am playing Persona 4 Golden now. 58:41 one of these days, I look forward to trying to use physical skills on Naoto, for the thrill of it.
If possible, could you do something like this with the bios you did for the Fire Emblem games? I find those bios to be both incredibly entertaining and insightful because you cover stuff I never even knew about some characters gameplay-wise, especially with PoR and RD.
It'll take a while to find all the files but I'd like to do this for PoR and RD. Sacred Stones... I'm not proud of how those bios turned out, so I'm not sure if I'd do that one. But PoR and RD are on the cards.
Ah right, she does. You're right, it's a Social Link skill. I still don't think she needs it, I prefer having the boost/amp on Teddie since Chie's ice skills are just for knockdown rather than damage.
@@BigKlingyThat’s totally fair. It would take an extra skill slot anyways so you would kinda have to weigh your options. Also btw I loved that you used the pokemon conquest sprites for rokuten maou’s background! That game is super underappreciated!
@@junglekun22 Though they're originally Samurai Warriors designs, the Pokemon Conquest sprites are amazing. And I agree that game is really underrated.
though naoto is definitely weaker in ps2 i normally used her as a item junkie during boss fights. its nice having a dedicated item user in boss fights after spamming megi's
Omg I'm so glad you did one of these! Do you have plans to do these for any other series? I'd love to help out if I can!! I know you're not a fan of "outsourcing" but I figured I'd offer Xp
so you're telling me the reason my Yukiko has 98 magic and not 99 (with +5 magic armour and accessory) is because she LOSES one point of it after evolving her persona???? im gonna riot
Sadly, yes. I have no idea why the ultimate Personas work this way. Thankfully, they have the same stats as their base forms in P5. (Except Futaba, who gets completely different stats on her evolved Persona, only to get her old ones back on 3rd tier, but since she's a nav it doesn't matter)
It nice to get bio for persona(s) hope we get it for persona 3. Also slighty related, I’m almost done with smt if of aka persona 0(at the true final dungeon) while it is a interesting games and still fun if your dedicated megmai tensei fan, but man does that game have some sadistic dungeon design aka the the domain of sloth and envy(and from what I hear domain of wrath). Seriously if wasn’t for the speed up and save states I would have ragequit.
I'm curious about the hot springs bit, since a site says that talking about the future with party members will unlock bonus skills. Is there any guide for exactly what skills those would be/when, or is that bit random and/or not really that useful at all?
P4G has I'd say one of the most balanced parties in a JPRG, everyone's pretty good. Q makes them pretty polarizing, and I forget how the Investigation Team improved in Q2 since I mostly remember the insane buffs SEES got there. (Yukari becoming a speed demon, Aigis keeping her broken physical power but also becoming a mixed-attacker with Nuclear, Male MC getting the ridiculous damage boost on magic, Female MC getting link boosters)
@@BigKlingy For Q2: P4MC got nerfed slightly, his magic isn't great so he's not a good mixed attacker anymore, and heat riser is both no longer exclusive and he doesn't get it naturally. He's still a solid tank or physical attacker but nothing too special. Swordbreaker became unique to him and is still useful... but it got nerfed to hell after how broken Aigis was in Q1 (20% activation rate in Q2 instead of the 50% I think in Q1). Yosuke: Super buffed, good support skills, high strength and agility instead of being a subpar mixed attacker. Cheap, unique death chaser that he comes with way earlier than you normally get death chaser makes him good for link teams. Chie: Nerfed, her unique got replaced with a death counter clone. You get it slightly earlier than normal death counter but death counter wasn't great to begin with. Junpei is very similar to her, having crit buffs and the same signature ability. The upgraded version of their uniques hit hard though and physical DPS is as great as ever so she's not bad. Yukiko: Buffed, gets Salome's Kiss, magic is actually viable. Unique isn't anything special but more evasion doesn't hurt. Kanji: Nerfed as a DPS, lost electric physical, doesn't get bestial roar or draconic cry naturally. Buffed as a tank, getting a dirt cheap version of All Guard way, way earlier than you get All Guard. If you keep his defense buffed and have a fast healer you can beat otherwise tough fights through sheer attrition by having him tank for the party. He's still got potential as a DPS due to his great strength but he needs a lot of investment. One of the best tanks in the game though. Rise: Arguably the best nav due to Spotlight having so much utility and no replacement or equivalent unlike Fuuka and Futaba's first battle skills. Encore is also great, extending buffs, even if there is a more expensive equivalent the other Navs can get. Teddie: Super buffed, half-decent magic and solid agility, signature ability improves survivability a lot, gets party healing. Only real issue is he only gets ice physical instead of ice magic. Naoto: Nerfed but that's not surprising. Bulkier than most mages and great luck... but mediocre magic and only decent agility as opposed to being crazy fast in Q1. Dekunda and Marakukaja are ok, and she has no weakness, and multiple elements... but her spells upgrade slower than elemental specialists. Her unique has potential I guess? Overall, the P4 characters had their bad characters buffed a ton to be decent at worst while their best characters got nerfed to "only" be decent in comparison to Q1. Also quick note, not only did Aigis get her DPS improved by getting a ton of great physical attacks by level up now, she not only has decent magic potential and a rare element now, but they gave her some of her old support skills back. She lost swordbreaker... but she resists all physical damage now. That arguably *buffed* her tanking potential. Aigis was already disgustingly broken in Q1 but she's batshit insane in Q2.
@@nachohangover5104 Thing is with Navs, Futaba is better for regular enemies (she has an inate ability that makes it extremely common to get advantage on enemies), while Rise is better for bosses for Spotlight alone. fuuka Edit: Also Akihiko has Golden Gemini on steroids basically which is complete nonsense balance-wise
@@SomeAsian Futaba does get that... but Heqet is available at like level 10 and gets a generic version of it that you can just slap on your Nav of choice's sub.

"Late Character Syndrome" A party member that joins late and don't integrate much into the party. Koromaru, Ken, and Shinjiro join late. While Shinjiro is there to be a crutch character (Only uses physical skills and has no resistances or weaknesses and he leaves after a while), the other two really don't fare better. Koromaru has underwhelming stats other than HP and Agility, situational Mudo skills, and all of his skills uses SP despite having a low SP stat. Ken only has single target attacking spells, situational Hama spells, and basically a master of none. The only thing he's really capable is his healing skills. The same "Late Character Syndrome" goes for Haru and Kasumi, but I'll talk about that later. Golden at least fixed Naoto by giving her versatility in favor over damage capability.
I'm personally on the "Ken is way better than people give him credit for" camp. He's as good as Yukari as a healer but doesn't share a weakness with Aigis, and that's really helpful in certain team comps. There's also a surprising number of Tartarus bosses that resist everything but Pierce and use Hama. Haru is easy to mess up if you don't plan a build in advance, but she's the only party member with Gun skills and in Royal Psy is probably the best element in the game due to how good Technical is. She still has issues but I don't think she's bad.
@@BigKlingy I feel like Kasumi has it the worst. Despite awakening her persona in October, she only joins in third semester, but that only happens if you complete a specific confidant. It doesn't help that in Strikers, both Akechi and Kasumi are absent and are replaced with Sophia and Zenkichi (Hey Octodad). As the final nail in the coffin, in New Game Plus, Zenkichi can be playable from the start and Sophia will start with her ultimate persona.
This isn't relevant to Persona, but I'm playing a game called I Am Setsuna now and it has the worst case of this I've seen. Your last party member in that game joins RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FINAL BOSS ROOM. He's treated as a full character with dialogue with the other members, even though there's basically 1% of story left after he joins. It's so weird.
You have to go out of your way and it's probably not great unless you grab it early. I wonder how early you can get it, because it might be good for gold hand farming.

@@BerserkerRohan fighting an ancient Cynthia and a Legendary Pokémon twice with no healing in between… of course. It’s like fighting N and then GHETSIS with no healing.

I can see why that'd be jarring, but Greninja really is based off the legend of Jiraiya.
Now that you mention it, Chie's theme song does sound like a Sonic Adventure song.
It was often meme'd back when Arena came out.
I’d love to see a sparring match between Chie and Knuckles now that I think about it
Teddie’s Persona inspiration: Born from a mother impregnated by a bolt of lightning. Are we sure Zeus isn’t the father?
Zeus' promiscuity somehow transcends mythologies.
That’s awesome.
It seems that spamton is a popular cosplay character, it seem he like the tf2 characters, where the characters is quite easy to cosplay but is recognized.
Speaking of cosplay the close I have been is doing the tf2 scout and the undertaker(which I didn’t really didn’t had the body for).
Thats great
That's so cool.
(...Give them time...)
I really should do this for every series I do with bios. I was planning on doing this right after finishing the playthrough but didn't for some reason.
@@BigKlingy Please tell me you’ll be playing “you are a pirate” throughout Ryuji’s bio, that would be incredible.

Honestly the bios are the highlights of the series as well as others like PoR and RD along with P3. They’re my favorite parts.
This takes me back.
I've always liked your profiles, and it's something I've realized I miss in your blind/semi-blind LPs.
That ending choice of music made me so happy
Also, we had a bit of a dumb running joke in one of our persona, four golden play through.
In order.
We have the protagonist.
The best girl, detective prince.
The best girl, Kanji
And Teddy
Watching these always brings back good memories.
(Notably Margaret, where it can block her party nuke attacks, and Izanami, who telegraphs World's End by using Tarukaja first every time)
These videos are so fun to watch!
When your boyfriend looks like Yosuke (including favoring over-the-ear headphones).
I like keeping Rainy Death on Chie because it has a base crit rate of 35%, which doubles to 70% on rainy days. This is without Apt Pupil as well, which increases it even further.
I... had no idea it worked like that. Logically it makes sense with its name, but wow.
@@BigKlingy That's fair because I don't think this is EVER mentioned ingame.
@@zephyrprime8 A shame, since it's a far better weather-based effect than goddamn Climate Decorum in P5.

Some things I'd like to say Text walls so beware;
Yosuke in OG was infamously good simply for being fast. like yeah he doesn't really do anything that impressive but being generally the fastest party member meant his generalist style let him be a good emergency responder to cure heal or get an a guaranteed knockdown.
(Although Chie's follow-up just yeets one enemy outright...)
For a long time 90% of Persona 4 playthroughs I saw just used the initial 3 until Naoto joined, then replaced Yosuke with her, so Kanji never got used despite being amazing.
I feel like not a whole lot of people use Teddie, which is a shame as his buff skills are amazing.
think a problem with teddie is that with how the video says that yukiko has the issue of something mediocre if your not planning out the build correctly, teddie has this problem but worse as you have the buffs and no salvation so you have even more skills to to pick, this doesn't help with his lower sp so he could burn out if your not careful
Woah, you actually made it
Well this was a nice trip down memory lane.
(Also main reason why I grinded to 92 before, especially since I had to be 91 to get...)
Shiva (Chaos): Main damage dealer of the party next to the MC as I had Shiva spam Madness Crush.
Second Phase:
Metatron (Law): One of my main Debilate and Luster Candy users who also resists most of the boss's attack except physical.
But PoR and RD are on the cards.
woah a breakdown of all the characters ?
this is like something chugaconeroy would do
I've done full in-depth playthroughs of Persona 3, 4 and 5 now.
Lol. Was looking forward to this 😌
The chie, yukiko, kanji, trumpeter all attack team is perfect
Something tells me we're getting close to the fifth. Shit's about to get real.
yosuke! my boy!
13:30 doesn’t Chie keep ice boost in golden? I thought it was just transferred to her social link instead of level up.
YESSSSSSS
I LOVE big collections of bios. Any chance of compiling the other bios (social links, Yu Personas, etc)?
I'm planning on doing the Social Links and Yu personas.
Omg I'm so glad you did one of these! Do you have plans to do these for any other series? I'd love to help out if I can!! I know you're not a fan of "outsourcing" but I figured I'd offer Xp
I would say reviewing these are a good idea for your P5R bios, but hey, who am I to talk?
so you're telling me the reason my Yukiko has 98 magic and not 99 (with +5 magic armour and accessory) is because she LOSES one point of it after evolving her persona???? im gonna riot
I want to play SMT If but I'm really not looking forward to the Domain of Sloth, I keep hearing it's one of the worst dungeons ever designed.
What game were those sprites shown during Kanji’s bio from? The art style seemed familiar
Pokemon Conquest, though the character designs are based on Samurai Warriors.
Do you have a list of all the music used in this video?
Also, are you going to do another one of these videos for all the arcana?
I'll do the arcana. And I'll comment with a list of the music when I have time.
I'm curious about the hot springs bit, since a site says that talking about the future with party members will unlock bonus skills. Is there any guide for exactly what skills those would be/when, or is that bit random and/or not really that useful at all?
These bonus skills for talking about the future at hot springs ARE the "Bike Skills" I listed. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
@@BigKlingy Oh, ok. I don't think that was ever mentioned at least in this video. Thanks for answering, though.
I probably could've made it clearer. "Bike Skills" is just how most wikis and other online info refers to these skills.
Ah, character bio collection P4G. Sounds like someone is ready to start playthrough a Persona game....😁
...Maybe.
Which version of the Investigation Team does better Gameplay and Storywise?
P4(G), PQ, or PQ2?
P4G has I'd say one of the most balanced parties in a JPRG, everyone's pretty good. Q makes them pretty polarizing, and I forget how the Investigation Team improved in Q2 since I mostly remember the insane buffs SEES got there. (Yukari becoming a speed demon, Aigis keeping her broken physical power but also becoming a mixed-attacker with Nuclear, Male MC getting the ridiculous damage boost on magic, Female MC getting link boosters)
@@BigKlingy For Q2:
P4MC got nerfed slightly, his magic isn't great so he's not a good mixed attacker anymore, and heat riser is both no longer exclusive and he doesn't get it naturally.
@@nachohangover5104 Thing is with Navs, Futaba is better for regular enemies (she has an inate ability that makes it extremely common to get advantage on enemies), while Rise is better for bosses for Spotlight alone.
fuuka
Edit: Also Akihiko has Golden Gemini on steroids basically which is complete nonsense balance-wise
@@SomeAsian Futaba does get that... but Heqet is available at like level 10 and gets a generic version of it that you can just slap on your Nav of choice's sub.
Q2 buffing Aigis was like P5R buffing Special Treatment.
So that's the Party Members' Bios & their Personas even its' skills... 🤔 I see... Very Interesting. Also, Poor Teddie by Rise yet Yu's Best Girl & better Navigator even in his Bike Skill picture. 😅 (Hahaha! 🤣 Sorry! Can't help it. My bad Teddie.)
Teddie: So Cruel...
Yu: U will get better & IK it.
Teddie: Yay! I'm in the Bear Roll!
Me: Bear Puns as always. Haha. That's Teddie for ya.
"Been a long time so good to see them again. This'll help the Players for the backups to feel Golden in the 4th Persona game."
@@BigKlingy At the very least, Ken, Naoto, and Haru make up for the "Late Character Syndrome" with appearing in spinoffs and having their own arcs.
@@robottiye9171 Strikers was amazing for Haur. As well as Ann and Yusuke.
