The major promotions (AEW, WWE, Impact) really need a reset. Go back to a slower style where there are less big fancy acrobatic spots but when they do perform them, it means more. I loved when Chavo Guerrero Sr came to Mid South...he was always a treat to watch & EVERYTHING he did meant something to the match...unlike most of the high flying moves these days.
It's not new, probably 1 to 2 years old. When he's talking about the Oklahoma City Thunder players, Paul George was traded in 2019. So this had to take place prior to that.
Disco said it perfectly (shocking, I know). The suspension of disbelief has been shot. We know it’s a work but two guys who know what they’re doing can make grown adults suspend our disbelief for 10-15 minutes. That doesn’t happen these days.

We don’t need to go back to the day of Mid South or JCP. I’d be happy if we went back to Smackdown 6 booking. Those guys did similar spots as todays guys, but their shit simply looked better. The standing vertical suplex was a finisher in the 70s , but it was a transition move by the 80s. Can anyone imagine a vertical suplex being used as a finisher today? Its not the overuse of high spots thats bad. Its the piss poor execution.
Nah the other platforms are not pulling in as much as Konnan is saying. WWE made more money yes, but what's the net? When I was doing Kodi for people which is true cable cutting that was like 5% of people. The other streaming services to me isn't true cutting since you're paying.
Those AEW guys that disregard and disrespect JR need to wake the fuck up or get the fuck out. JR is wrestling royalty and his opinion holds more weight than most in the business today. Jim brought up the Maryland promotion. I'm sure he's talking about MCW. Got to saw the only time these companies do good is when they bring someone in so I have to disagree with both Konnan and Jim. Go to MCW when it's just the regular crew vs when Flair, Brett Hart and Rakishi show up. As for WWE making more money that means little, because the net profit wasn't great due to them spending way more money than they've ever spent. As for other platforms it's been proven that's not as big as people make it. My son said hardly anybody watches wrestling at his school. That was elementary and middle school.
I disagree with JR about the game changing. I the NFL they changed the way they play football, in the NBA they changed the way they are playing basketball, in Wrestling, they are pretending wrestling doesn't exist. Doing 7 flips and kicking the guy is cool... but it only work if people believe he's trying to do it to fuck that guy up.
The ancillary income is from the past though. People pay to hear about the attitude era but will they keep paying for that? Will they care about 2012 WWE?
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL 1 more thing. Is it possible for Disco to give some suggestions rather then only talking about his disbelief in tough guys? I believe the guys who got into wrestling when i was watching it growing up wanted to be great wrestlers. The people in it now see it as a stepping stone into other things. @@alejandromelendez1609 That's fine, but that isn't the fault of the young guys these dudes are blaming. Put the blame where it belongs: the most visible company on the planet! Wrestling fans (of which WWE has more than anyone) are bored with constantly being disappointed and not being heard, so they're leaving. And, non-wrestling fans have no characters to connect with. But, these jokers are blaming spots instead of the actual problem: WWE killed kayfabe, the big characters, stables, managers, outlandish situations, and the shoot/dirt sheets and old-timer nag fest blogs/vlogs are helping finish it off (that irrelevant inbred Cornette being the face of has been-ism). So what, they do a tope in every match, well they also do clotheslines, bodyslams, elbow drops, powerbombs, drop kicks, (and on and on), which can be legitimately devastating in a real fight in them too. Hell, the piledriver (which can legitimately kill you) has been ubiquitous in matches for decades, yet wise old JR and the Muppets aren’t mentioning that in his ranting (guess it’s because it’s from one of the slow eras they approve of). I do agree some impactful moves should be worth more and sold as more devastating or as finishers. BUT, these guys don’t have a “leg to stand on” blaming this for dwindling crowds just to make their opinions seem valid to the masses because their contributions may not be.
"This is awesome!" Chants were a niche thing in Ring of Honor. It was a fun unique thing in a small promotion that catered to hardcore wrestling fans. Now it is a mark thing at every promotion. It's stupid. What you really want is cheering and booing. Not nerds critiquing the wresters' ring work.

The major promotions (AEW, WWE, Impact) really need a reset. Go back to a slower style where there are less big fancy acrobatic spots but when they do perform them, it means more. I think everyone just got carried away trying to out do each other and missed the fact that you eventually hit a wall where there the fans are desensitized.
see, Jim Ross can be fun on a podcast... must just be Conrad "Sponsors" Thompson who brings him down
He is selling his mortgages
@@ronniejdio9411 i remember when he used to do a wrestling stories show
Conrad "When a Mark Buys His Way into a Circle of Pro Wrestling Vets" Thompson!!
@@at0micwerew0lf it was nepotism not buying his way in
I loved when Chavo Guerrero Sr came to Mid South...he was always a treat to watch & EVERYTHING he did meant something to the match...unlike most of the high flying moves these days.
Could you care to add the date too. It has to be from the show, which would also have a date. You can add that, so we can know it's a latest one.
I'm usually a massive Disco defender but JR completely schooled him here
Hopefully my question on the finger poke of doom will be answered
we'll find out later today
Where is the highlight reel version of the shows Konnan was talking about?
How old is this?
It's not new, probably 1 to 2 years old. When he's talking about the Oklahoma City Thunder players, Paul George was traded in 2019. So this had to take place prior to that.
Disco said it perfectly (shocking, I know). The suspension of disbelief has been shot. We know it’s a work but two guys who know what they’re doing can make grown adults suspend our disbelief for 10-15 minutes. That doesn’t happen these days.
Haven't heard it yet but I can pretty much guess there's a disco roasting over an open fire 😂
because?
am I remembering wrong or was JR a playable character in the first Smackdown game? and he had this crazy move-set?
That is wrong. He was first playable in WWF WrestleMania 2000 for the Nintendo 64.
@@SuperNitroZ64 ok
Poor disco still recording on vhs or beta
Not everyone wants to go digital and stream everything

Really hope you guys are able to get him for a recent interview soon because I'd love to hear what he has to say now especially with the recent situation or controversy. Which by the way I thought that's what this was....kinda shady K100 crew. Lol But I'll forgive ya since it was still a good listen.
we'll see, AEW won't allow most of their roster to do interviews unless they get to control the whole thing
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL Ohhh, had a feeling. That sux to hear.
Lmao clip full of interruptions
new to the show?
Lmao about 3-4 months in I like the Interruptions it's hilarious, an it's usually for another good point. Keep killin it
Wcw in Tna was the first wrestling that take high flying cruiserweight to a base and nxt is now the leader
It doesn't look like a fight anymore
Konnan Right.... Chavo Sr. Had The First moonsalt On UWF TV !986
All those nba players are on other TEAMS 😂😂😂
Jim is a class act.
JR is one of the greatest minds in the history of wrestling yet he has to answer to Tony Khan... there's no justice in the world
We don’t need to go back to the day of Mid South or JCP.
Great stuff, JR go home
Nah the other platforms are not pulling in as much as Konnan is saying. WWE made more money yes, but what's the net? When I was doing Kodi for people which is true cable cutting that was like 5% of people. The other streaming services to me isn't true cutting since you're paying.
Those AEW guys that disregard and disrespect JR need to wake the fuck up or get the fuck out. JR is wrestling royalty and his opinion holds more weight than most in the business today. If JR thinks there's too much acrobatics, no selling, no pyschology etc in AEW, then there damn well is and Tony & Co. need to take that on board and do something about it.
*Ratings are all an estimated guess anyways based on a small sampling. They have no clue what most of us are watching in the privacy of our homes...or how old the people sitting in front of the TV are at what specific times...(Atleast i hope they don't lol) It's all a guess....*
Will they care about 2012 WWE?
yes
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL 1 more thing. Is it possible for Disco to give some suggestions rather then only talking about his disbelief in tough guys? I get it, he's not thrilled with the current product but how about some ideas? To be fair, I never associated his character with a tough guy or thought of him nor Alex Wright that way.
It's not "Toe Pay" it's Topé aka head butt. Suicide dive! conan should correct that shit. It diminishes the mexican og lucha moves. A Topé used to mean something back in the day. Now Excalibur is tossing that shit left and right. 🙅♂️. Get conan on commentary to bring significance to the lucha style and jr to bring significance to american style. 👌
you think you're so smart yet you can't even spell a name correctly.
maybe you guys should learn a few tips from JR on how to do a show that isn't awful
I believe the guys who got into wrestling when i was watching it growing up wanted to be great wrestlers.
The people in it now see it as a stepping stone into other things.
They are athletic enough and average enough on the mic to get by.
Every couple of weeks ill watch Monday Night Raw for a while but ill change it after a while. Its just not interesting. These guys arent good enough for me to suspend disbelief.
I want them to convince me theyre who they pretend to be.
JR is lost in the sauce OR he’s saving face cuz he wants to keep a job.
AEW is a... con?
Fan meet and greets..
Legend appearances..
Table for selling gimmicks
Sounds like "Randy The Ram" to me...
Konnan and Disco are so annoying man. Stop interrupting people only to repeat old points.
I’d rather watch the classics on youtube kinda the modern tape trading. The modern wrestlers are cooler behind the scenes they have no on screen characters.
AEW have ruined Jim Ross' legacy.
AEW is a failing company
Phil Walsh is a failing RUclips commenter.

i wonder how much heat JR got for doing this show
🤣 "they're so busy trying to get a this is an awesome chant" ... because God forbid entertainers should be trying to please the crowd. SMH. That's some Vinny Mac logic for ya. Landing on their feet is meant to display superior reflexes, you kcheapening
The crowd is getting smaller and smaller every year. It's one thing to please the crowd in the moment, it's another to get it to come back. When seemingly every guy is doing the same spot on a show every week, many in the crowd will get desensitized to that spot.
Vinny Mac logic you mean billion dollar company starting logic I will follow that logic all day long
@@mannydelvalle50 He didn't start it. His dad did and sold it to him when he was about to retire. Vinnie Mac then screwed all the other promoters and then almost went out of business a few times. He thinks he is a genius, but he has had many mis steps.
