  • This is the repotting from a wooden box to a pot in early October.
In the case of the wooden box, the pot has good ventilation, so the roots grow outward and outward, and the soil in the center of the pot does not become so hard. Therefore, repotting from a wooden box is an easy way to remove soil.
However, the Wakaebisu I repotted this time has roots so firmly rooted that it is hard to believe that it has only been in the wooden box for three or four years. It looks as if it had been kept in a ceramic pot.
Although the plant was repotted from a wooden box to a decorative pot, it took as much time and effort as repotting from a decorative pot to a decorative pot in terms of root treatment.
Dry the soil thoroughly before repotting. For this young Ebisu, I let it dry without watering it for a week.
Tap the roots with a mallet to remove soil in the spaces between the roots. It is easier to remove soil when the soil is dry.
The roots should be left uncut as much as possible, and the soil should be loosened and removed. To achieve both of them, tapping with mallet is very interesting method.
