When I was a young man, I did not think much of this, but now at 77 year of age, it makes me cry ! ! !
"Ain't Misbehaving" is another good one by the King of Stride, Mr. Waller.
My Mama used to sing this around the house when she was cleaning. I loved hearing her sing it. There are other renditions from that era but she always said this one was the best. Once again Mama knows.
❤
Know where you're coming from there Teresia. I remember my Mum singing this when I was a nipper in the early '50s.
How cool that you reviewed Fats Waller!! Thank you for posting!
India is very very special!
Class always stands the test of time, Thank You for reminding me of this song....
Just what I needed at 3:28am. Gorgeous song. So comforting. A Scotsman watching from Ireland. Great reactions. I've been liking and enjoying your vids for a while now.
Between me and you, India has a little following in Ireland!
@@guitarjamie aye it seems so!!
Fats was the king of 1920s-30s jazz piano. I love that era. Thanks for sharing this amazing song.
WOW, this is from my grandparent's era. That was a whole new experience. Might have to start lookin into more of this era of music.
Besides Fats, try Teddy Wilson Orchestra with Billie Holliday, Benny Goodman, Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Wingy Manone, Barney Bigard, Louis Armstrong, for a start.
@@netzahuacoyotl Fletcher Henderson's orchestra is another great one
My mum was a blues singer, loved jazz and blues the most. She was also a fabulous pianist but couldn't read a note of music, she taught herself by listening to Fats Waller records 🥰😁
Some of the greatest musicians didn't read music! Errol Garner is a great example of that!
I was born in 1960 and I love this kind of music.
I love this vibe too. I was born in 1956.
@@Teresia12 cool
Yeah my year too...looks like you survived the matching number traumatic birthday last year. A haaarrrd one for me haha. Lord, STILL feels like that's my grandma that's this age, not me. Anyway, happy 60th! 🎈😩
This is such a clever and enjoyable song. Thank you for your reaction.
This is a fantastic song. His biggest hit during his lifetime. And what a great band with him! Fats is my favorite artist. I esp. love 'Everbody Loves My Baby' and 'There'll Be Some Changes Made'.
MY GOD THIS SONG. LOVE YOU INDIA!!!!!
So cool to see you hearing this for the first time. I love Fats Waller. His best song (IMO) is Ain’t Misbehavin’, which I learned on guitar once (it was hard and I can’t play it anymore). Keep checking out the old stuff!
Thank you India for your inspirational cnoice in song and muzak'.
Fats was so great and I have two big cd collections of his music. He was a great musician and entertainer! India, you are precious!
India I am a new subscriber and I have to say I truly enjoy your reactions. So open, honest, heartfelt, and showing such a deep connected understanding of the human heart and spirit. ❤️❣️
I love that someone requested this and your open minded approach made it a very pleasant experience. Fats was doing what's called "tickling the ivories". Great song thanks🎶👏
I love this song! The measure of "good art" is not what it looks like or what it sounds like, but how it makes you feel. Fats, makes us "feel" what he wants us to feel with a few simple chords, long before the first words are spoken. Then, his simple words of love move us...right where he wants us. Great choice. Great reaction.
I am happy you are back
Check out Fats Waller " Baby I love you but your feet's to big."
This was recorded in 1935.
Not my music but I love it . This is when music truely had heart and soul.
if you love it it's your music.
@@davisworth5114 Exactly.
my grandfather ( who i spent a lot of my younger life with) loved this style of music! thanks for the memories India :) big love to all people :)
One of the greats. Who paved the way for, Blues, R&B, Rock n Roll to become commercially viable/available......
Thelonious Monk, Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, the definition of intricacy.
In perspective, 1933 The great world depression, 1939 WW2 started. Not much in the atmosphere for good vibes. A letter may do it, no matter who it's from.
Not the best jazz song, but I appreciate were, and who it comes form. A song that has been done by many, in the Day. Jazz is the finest music there is. Nice reaction, to long ago ERA.
Try some from 50s 60s big change.
MORE JAZZ.
India your still the best.
When I was a teenager my Mum introduced me to Vahn Monroe's "Red Roses For A Blue Lady". I'm glad she did, I just Love it!
Love this one! Also please try "let's Pretend theres a Moon" - "Sugar Rose" - "It's a sin to tell a lie" - you will not be disappointed. In the UK my mother just loved him always put a smile on her face, and I used to play her old 78 rpm records she had in the 70's when 13yrs old, still love him and play him now.
My dad had his 78s. I grew up with Fats and Satchmo, and Billie, and others. Ella was our favorite.
It's a beautiful song. Sort of sad, but beautiful.
I remember my Mum singing this when I was a nipper in the early '50s.
Fats has so many songs and I have his box set and recordings from 1912 of his piano solos sounds like background music to Charlie Chaplin movies.
Thank you, that was fun
brings tears
That man knows how to tickle dem ivory's...these recording r very old...they electronically removed all the clicks n pops...sounds nice...my Gran pops had is own Orchestra back in the 30's and 40's ...Ty dear
For more Fats, check out 'When Somebody Thinks You're Wonderful', 'Dinah' and 'Ain't Misbehaving'
George Gershwin used to hire Fats Waller to play at his parties for all the New York swells, Fats was among the stride piano giants of the 20s and 30s, he died young in the mid-forties. Check out "Ain't Misbehavin" live 1943 and if you like piano check out the Duke Ellington solo piano recital in Paris, 1970. This music came out at the height of the Depression. I could listen to the piano introduction all day.
That’s some type of manifesting love into your life 😜
I think I might write myself a letter ......lol
This song is cute and easy listening. Makes me think of youthful innocence, writing valentines cards anonymously.
I liked it 😊
Adorable reaction
Ronnie McDowell "Wandering Eyes". Great song. Very upbeat!
Me gusta es como una máquina del tiempo te hace retroceder a cuando todo era blanco y negro 😲😅💯💕🇲🇽👍✌️
Thank you for reacting to this version if the song. Although it was before my time it was fun to hear the original. This might be a nice section to keep as a lot of us need a deeper appreciation of the music of the early eras.
His style is "Stride" piano. the big left hand is the key, the rhythm section. the right concentrates on the melody.
So beautiful
React to B.B. King "The thrill is gone" and parliament funkadelic "give up the funk (tear the roof off The sucka)"
My personal favorite song by Fats Waller is (and will always be) Honeysuckle Rose. Check it out. Fats was a master of stride piano, but it was his personality that put him over the top and that made him famous as a recording artist and also got him into a few films films.
Also worth watching is the song "That Ain't Right" from the film "Stormy Weather". Fats Waller and Ada Brown.
Your reactions are so sweet, India.
Amazing music
India, you are so sweet. And I believe you are a romantic also. The looks on your face were so precious.
Fats is one of my favorites. Sadly he died two years before I was born.
The man was awesome to the tenth power! For a real thriller find and listen to the "Jitter bug walts" you won't be sorry!
Ever hear the Al Capone story with Fats Waller? Al took, kinda kidnapped, Fats and made him play all night and every song he played Al and Friends stuffed Fats pockets with $100 bills. I don't know if it is true, but I believe it. Fats Waller was beloved in the 20s and 30s. While no one liked Jelly Roll Morton.
got one of his albums.
I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in having a Wide and Various taste in music. I like practically every kind from Heavy Metal to Classical, my All-time favorite is Bon Jovi. If you like Old Standards try Peter Dawson's "If Those Lips Could Only Speak". I grew up with the Foster And Allen version, Peter Dawson's is Older but I think he was pretty Great. The Mills Brothers "The Glow-Worm" is Great Fun, I Dare You Not Dance Around When You Hear It. I think Kitty Kallen's "Little Thing's Mean A Lot" has a lot of Timeless advice about how to show Somebody You Love Them.
I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter was an obscure song that nobody would perform at the time because face it, it's a very corny song, even back then. They gave it to Fats Waller as a throw-in during one of his sessions and he reluctantly threw an arrangement together and performed it with his legendary Rhythm band. Unexpectedly, it became one of Waller's greatest hits. He made a lot of lemons into lemonade, just like this, but this is A+1 prime lemonade. Because of its popularity as a mega-hit, Waller was trapped into performing it live and in the live recordings you could hear him make fun of the lyrics. ("I'm going to sot right down and write myself a postcard") This is a "straight" recording as you can hear.
Listen to Thin Lizzy song Fats, that's all about Fats Waller!!! Phil Lynott got Fats character down pat in the lyrics!!!
Check out Fats, he's a real cool cat
He's got a black and white tux with lots of class
He says, "I love that jazz. I love that razz-ma-tazz. I love to swing."
"I just go crazy when you give me room to do my thing." That's Fats.

Never To Be Forgotten Night - Fats Waller
Type of music you listen too while having a candle light dinner with your partner or when you are both laying on a grass bank at night watching the stars :)x
Fats Waller Ain't misbehavin' mmm
Check out his song Yo Feets too Big.
Pretty tame selection from Waller. His singing and playing is typically pretty wild.
Honeysuckle Rose is another Fats Waller gem.
wow
You cant ever Listen to this kinda music like before once you played fallout 😄😉

If you like Fats, you would probably like The Boswell Sisters.
FATS HAS MANY CLASSICS BUT, THE ONE I LOVE THE MOST IS... FEETS TOO BIG. CHECK IT OUT.
If you like this, you might like the Fats Waller song, "Honeysuckle Rose". The wonderful Nell Carter sang it on Broadway. Just in case you want to give it a shot. Thank you as always🌷
We listened to the Ain't Misbehavin' soundtrack over and over. I still have it on vinyl.
@@notjustanybeth A great one, indeed!
I was fortunate enough to see "Ain't Misbehavin'" TWICE when it first appeared on Broadway in 1978 with Nel Carter, Armelia McQueen, Charlayne Woodard, Andre DeShields, and Ken Page. It literally changed my life, and I fell in love with Fats Waller's music.
I never thought I'd see a reaction to Fats! This made my day! Love your channel!
LOVE FATS!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Musical talent in all generations is amazing! Music is an art and touch’s us! Enjoyed this !!!!!!!😎
I love music like this...Nice to sit in a comfy old chair with glass of something warming and find peace with relaxing music like this... On momemts like that all is well with the world. 😊
Happy New Year my beautiful musical friend
I love this song! Madeleine Peyreux did a more current version of this song that’s pretty cool, too. This is my kind of jazz. Old school, sultry, deep, and emotional...but still gives you this feel good vibe.
You love your jazz?
Check out Little Jimmy Scott, he was probably the finest interpreter of lyrics, in the whole of the 20th Century!
He was still performing, up to his death, just a few years ago, in his 80's!
He covered a lot of modern classics, in his own unique style, but I prefer his older work, from the late 40's & early 50's, like 'When did you leave Heaven', & 'Everybody needs somebody' (no, not the one from blues brothers!)
I am so happy you showed Fats Waller. I learned about him from my grandmother. I have been a fan since I was a young teen in the early '80s. It is rare you find anyone today that even knows his name. But . . . my 8 year old does.
Such a beautiful song ☺️🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🤩
Tons of good tunes from Fats
A very talented and underrated musician. Funny, smart as well both musically and lyrically. So sweet and sentimental. My dad was into jazz big time, he collected all kinds of old Jazz and Blues records. He turned me onto this music. Thanks for making this video.
Check out Ain’t misbehavin’ by Fats Waller, more upbeat and jazzy. Brilliant piano introduction on that one as well🤗
India, have you watched Fats Waller's Ain't Misbehavin' rendition from the movie Stormy. It's pure joy. He comedically toys with the piano and really jazzes it up. You will never forget it.
Good choice. It is a song that generates nostalgia, relaxation and hope. Gracias por compartir secretos musicales del pasado.
Like Richard said below, not my music. You are opening the door to people like Earl Bostic, Jimmy McCracklin, Darby & Tarlton, and so many others that came either just before or after World War 2. The foundations of blues, country, and western swing that would join with other influences to create Rockabilly, and later Rock and Roll. The writing was amazing. I am especially amazed by the lyrics to the songs in the 40's, 50's and 60's. You are on a fun journey. Thanks for sharing with us!
I want you to know you're beautiful.
You cut me right, to my cuticle. I want you to know, you're so damn beautiful. I love your reaction, its so satisfaction, I want you to know, you're beautiful.
REACTS ANGEL JON SECADA, PLEASE INDIA ❤
The first time I ever heard this as a kid was on an album by the Palm Beach Boys. The did cover songs including "Winchester Cathedral" (Another great one of this old-timey 1920'1930's style that you should react to), Actually, there's a 'great' video of the original guys that did the song in the '60's, "Winchester Cathedral - New Vaudeville Band 1966"

Pleasse React "dont bother" video by Shakira
I used to play this on the organ
Hi Ms. India, U should review Ms. Ketty Lester's "Love Letters". she was an Actress & Singer in the 60's.. ♠W.G.
Please react to her video "Oh Father". Madonna lost her mother to breast cancer when she was 5 years old, and after that she had a bad relationship with her father. That song us about her sadchildhood and is so emotional, and the video is a work of art.
This man is brilliant! I love, love, love, his music.
Music was so simple then yet divine.
Your reaching back now
Say there India who is Brandon?
Love it
Love this kind of music... Vintage jazz. I first heard this song on one of my dad's Frank Sinatra albums. I used to sing along to it... and sang along to Mr. Waller just bow.
The Reefer Song is prettt good too.
Fats had a remarkable left hand, not as good as Johnnie Johnson or Jerry Lee Lewis, but its right up there.
I don't think so, neither of them played stride.
@@davisworth5114 lol, I'm not talking technique, I'm talking feel.
Is the whole "Stormy Weather"(1943?) film available on some streaming? Highly recommend.
it may be on amazon prime and it plays on TCM every so often
The ad at the end of the video is an hour long I'm sorry I'd like to help you but there is no way I am going to watch or listen to an ad that's an hour long it's 11:02 p.m. my time I can't even lay the phone down and go do something for an hour and come back to help you is too late sorry but your ads are way too long.
