I have been listening to them since 1989 one song got me the music they perform has lots of emotion most of the words i can understand since they speak a different dialect of spanish but you can when you listen feel the music and its meaning ,tried to get every album they have come out and the music does n ot disappoint JRo

i was in St Petersburg Russia in early spring of 2003 and saw the GK's. Listening to them on RUclips tonight 20+ years later. i was three rows back from the stage. It starts out with the percussions. Throbing, withering beat, and affects you right down to your balance. Then walks out the guitarists. It is a sensory experience I had never experienced before ...nor since! When the guitarists and percussions are playing at their fiercest you feel like you are losing your mind ...it is like a Hallucinogenic event where you have no control of your emotions. You are throbbing with the music...sensory overloaded. I am kind of a shy guy but my feet were moving and my arms were flaying. I kept accidently hitting this huge Russian seated in front of me. At intermission he stood up. He was at least 6'5" and 270 lbs. He blocked out the lighting from the stage. He looked at me and said nothing. I told him one word in Russian...простить (forgive). He replied with one word, "Da" The lead singer transports you into the macho psyche of the Spanish gypsy. If you watch how he moves his mouth and jaw to articulate the sounds that emanate in deep animal growls.... If you see no other band in your life....they are well worth the coins. It is an experience that you will never forget. There is no one like them
What musicians and singer's got to see them in Dublin in the ninetys with my late husband 🙏and my sister who now speaks fluent Spanish treasured memories will never fade, still have their CD blasting in the car as I travel the roads, shows us, one does not need! the language !to appreciate good rhythm and music...

I speak Spanish as my first language but as an Argentinian sometimes I struggle to understand what they say, seems like they mix different Spanish pronunciations or even local languages spoken in Spain.

If this music doesn’t make your feet tap, better check your pulse. I saw the Gipsy Kings once at Radio City Music Hall in NYC and they were extraordinary. My DNA is entirely Irish with a bit of German but something about this music digs deep into my soul. Love it!!

I was at this concert in '89 brilliant night - took the whole band back to my restaurant, La Finca in Islington, for a meal, which was a great night as well, especially when the band played another set for my customers which got featured in the Evening Standard, tried my best speaking to them in Spanish, blank expressions followed, then I was informed that they only spoke French!! Still, we communicated - a great, extremely talented bunch of guys - eternal thanks to Ray Leavy of A1 records for the introduction of the band to me. 31 years later I still remember every detail of the night. Also I know I'm getting older b'cos the current Gypsy Kings line up is starting to include the next generation - the sons and nephews of this original line up (possibly grandsons !) any daughters, nieces and granddaughters coming thru? That would be very 2020 and very interesting but would they have to change their name and to what...? Any ideas anybody. Memories, thanks Gypsy Kings and Ray - without him, I doubt if anyone would have heard of them outside of the Camargue region and the borderlands of Spain and France. Hope you all enjoyed my little story - plenty of time to write in Lock down, good news tho', in 3 hours, State of Emergency ends in Portugal where I live, see folks, it will get better. Gotta add this quote from Nicolas " At first, we were a little nervous about facing the world, now it is our life, after all, we have been travelling for centuries - we only exchanged caravans and horses for cars and planes.. Now the cops are in front of us, not behind!" - Brilliant.!! FURTHER EDIT. - some things I missed in my comments :- 1)How much the entire band were enjoying this concert - you can see it in all their faces. 2)The effort the band put into their individual presentation and performance. 3)Nico's vocals, how he builds them up, alongside the rest of the band, up to the final chorus during "My Way" in Spanish. 4)Tonini's brilliant guitar playing and how he is so unassuming, shy in a way, although he was then and still is now, one of the top Rumba Flamenca guitarist's in the world. 5)The brilliant camera work and editing of the concert - remember this is 1989 !! Hope everything is OK in Oz, it seems to be calming down in Europe, but the position is still very fragile, nobody believes it has gone away, hiding at best. Is going to be a problem until a vaccine is found. In the meantime, we have to learn to live with it, try to control the spread and prevent further waves returning.Thank God for Internet, Facebook, Twitter, You Tube etc. ., for all the bad press they get in normal times they have certainly made lock down bearable. Well, I told my story already but I can add the 2 times I saw them at Radio City Music Hall it was packed! Little blond blue eyes girls dancing standing up on the seats. Quite an audience. I always knew they are French but they sing in Spanish pretty good.
I have been listening to these guys since what feels like forever, since my teens just like the Eagles. The Eagles and The Gypsy Kings are for sure the sound track to me life and I feel every emotion in the music. I truly cannot imagine life without either.
When I first heard them on a CD, I was enthralled with the pureness and energy of their music. To me, it speaks of life, living, giving it your very best. Then to see them in person was equally thrilling and more telling ~ so many guitars, so extremely well played, with beautifully performed songs. Thanks Gypsy Kings!

OMG this brings back fantastic memories as I was there for the concert. Went with my sister & a friend, with the 3 of us having the best night. No, this makes you one of the few who got to enjoy these amazing group and their music..... I have never seen them live more will ever I guess but this concert remains my favorite along with my BB other friends.... Nothing compares to this music, the energy the voices the vibes.....
Your not old its because we are set in time & life moves on & time just lapses. My wife & I have loved the band for years and so it was regret I had a spinal stoke in September last year. Life goes on & you realise we are getting older, & so are they TTFN Frosty

I was at this concert in '89 brilliant night - took the whole band back to my restaurant, La Finca in Islington, for a meal, which was a great night as well, especially when the band played another set for my customers which got featured in the Evening Standard, tried my best speaking to them in Spanish, blank expressions followed, then I was informed that they only spoke French!! Still, we communicated - a great, extremely talented bunch of guys - eternal thanks to Ray Leavy of A1 records for the introduction of the band to me. 31 years later I still remember every detail of the night. Also I know I'm getting older b'cos the current Gypsy Kings line up is starting to include the next generation - the sons and nephews of this original line up (possibly grandsons !) any daughters, nieces and granddaughters coming thru? That would be very 2020 and very interesting but would they have to change their name and to what...? Any ideas anybody. Memories, thanks Gypsy Kings and Ray - without him, I doubt if anyone would have heard of them outside of the Camargue region and the
borderlands of Spain and France.
Hope you all enjoyed my little story - plenty of time to write in Lock down, good news tho', in 3 hours, State of Emergency ends in Portugal where I live, see folks, it will get better.

FURTHER EDIT. - some things I missed in my comments :-
1)How much the entire band were enjoying this concert - you can see it in all their faces.
2)The effort the band put into their individual presentation and performance.
3)Nico's vocals, how he builds them up, alongside the rest of the band, up to the final chorus during "My Way" in Spanish.
4)Tonini's brilliant guitar playing and how he is so unassuming, shy in a way, although he was then and still is now, one of the top Rumba Flamenca guitarist's in the world.
5)The brilliant camera work and editing of the concert - remember this is 1989 !!

Hope everything is OK in Oz, it seems to be calming down in Europe, but the position is still very fragile, nobody believes it has gone away, hiding at best. Is going to be a problem until a vaccine is found. In the meantime, we have to learn to live with it, try to control the spread and prevent further waves returning.Thank God for Internet, Facebook, Twitter, You Tube etc. ., for all the bad press they get in normal times they have certainly made lock down bearable. Well, I told my story already but I can add the 2 times I saw them at Radio City Music Hall it was packed! Little blond blue eyes girls dancing standing up on the seats. Quite an audience. I always knew they are French but they sing in Spanish pretty good.

I have been listening to these guys since what feels like forever, since my teens just like the Eagles. The Eagles and The Gypsy Kings are for sure the sound track to me life and I feel every emotion in the music. I truly cannot imagine life without either.

When I first heard them on a CD, I was enthralled with the pureness and energy of their music. To me, it speaks of life, living, giving it your very best. No, this makes you one of the few who got to enjoy these amazing group and their music..... I have never seen them live more will ever I guess but this concert remains my favorite along with my BB other friends.... Nothing compares to this music, the energy the voices the vibes.....
