- This first-of-its-kind Vekoma Family Thrill Coaster is based off the company's Family Boomerang ( • Velociraptor front sea... ), which is extremely compact compared to this 2+ minute - 3990 feet (1.2km) long ride. Like its predecessor, this one also offers three LIM (Linear Induction Motor) launches and a super smooth ride. There's also a mere 39-inch (99cm) height requirement, which means the entire family can ride together!

Probably one of the best family launch coasters I’ve seen.
Hagrids?
@@Jesse-td5fk That’s why I said “*ONE* of the best family launch coasters” 😊
@@Jesse-td5fkeveryone doesn’t have 300 million dollars to spend on one coaster. this is the best one since
@@r.t.c.no.1529 oh ok 👍
@@maincoasters Hagrids is miles better than this, which is why it cost more
I had no idea this had onride audio. That's dope. Big Bear LORE
I'm fairly certain that there's statues of Big Bear around dollywood, too
The story thickens
I must know more ‘bout big bear now lol
And bear tracks..
i rode this one yesterday, and lemme tell you, this one’s absolutely amazing for people who don’t like drops because once you get going, the tingly feeling in your torso goes away quick and the speed is absolutely amazing
would recommend this one for first time riders
The tingly feeling is all in your head and you desensitize to it the more you experience the sensation.
@@BlotRorschach no, its your organs in your stomach moving upwards
This looks like one of the best flowing rollercoasters I’ve seen in a long time so smooth and perfect turns and crests
POV looks 20 mph slower than it really is. 3 launches and plenty of twists and turns. It’s awesome.
The pov I've been waiting for. No one does it better!
Ide rather get the pov to grizzleys retrack.
@@askjeevescosby2928 well that just opened yesterday, and this coaster I believe opened on Friday. So, I'm sure that will come this week.
One of the most underrated family coasters at any park. It's a blast.
It won best family coaster in the Golden ticket awards. :)
I rode it 2 days ago, and it shocked me with how good it was. Great positives, phenomenal sense of speed, surprising laterals, excellent launches, and awesome onboard audio. My #2 there after Lightning Rod
How tall to ride?
3'1
Does thunderhead not exist anymore
@@inlinechris I like Thunderhead, but it’s not top 2 in the park for me
It’s worth the drive to the park alone, such a great addition
Just rode it today, and lemme just say that might be my favorite Coaster at Dollywood!!
for a family coaster that second half looks exhilarating
This looks really great! I rode mostly all of the Dollywood coasters last year on my first visit now it looks like I have to coke back and give this a try! I like how there keeping it a family friendly roller coaster but also a thriller too!
this was my first “big” rollercoaster and it’s my favorite
Got to ride Big Bear Mountain 10-12-23. I must say the theme throughout the queue line was excellent. The ride is 1 of the best in the park. A fantastic addition to Dollywood
Super fun! If you go, its a MUST DO
I just went on this yesterday, road it 7 times and even got my mom in on it who hates roller coasters. It was so much fun and I plan on riding this again when I return another time to Tennessee.
You may want to update your description; 39 inches is closer to 99 cm, not 9 cm. Though, it does bring me joy to know that even the impractically small among us can ride this, as long as we measure in metric 😅
Most intense looking “family coaster” I have ever seen. Also the longest! Geez this ride travels some distance!
This coaster looks insane ! Could ride it all day long
This ride slaps. I just rode it today. The scariest part is either the beginning launch or when your up high. The high one feels like you go straight down but you dont at all
This looks mad fun!! Would be top tier if they planted more trees up and down the mountain around the track.
They’re growin
yeah definitely going to add to the ride once some more greenery grows in and you are rushing past some trees.
It has to grow god damn it
@@erikm8372 that’s gonna take years tho :(
They will
The coaster was so fun, but that background music on the ride really sold it for me, combined with the pretty stellar view
this ride is elevated by like 5x cuz of the onboard audio especially at night it feels so cool
The last time i was at dollywood was in 2017 im impressed with how many new rides have been built since then
Riding this at night is the best time!
yes!
Such a fantastic coaster. My 3 year old loved it!!!
This looks so fun! Totally my speed for a roller coaster 🎢
Alot more intense then I expected. I apologize for yelling if you rode between 5pm-6pm. This was only my second launch coaster.
It's pretty smooth, though. However, I would not recommend it to someone who doesn't really like coasters. Would I ride again... Maybe....
This ride is fantastic. Just ride it today and the coaster is nothing but pure joy 😊
This looks like such a fun ride with some really good passing!
Dude, perfect ride. Fast, banks, no huge drops. I love this
I went on it and I did not expect it to be so good. The wave turn after the second launch is amazing 🤩
I LOVE THIS RIDE!!
This looks like a fun family coaster, and it's going to get even better once some trees and other plants grow back in.
I rode it, its awesome, but when it says "let's kick it into high gear" it's truly does
Really, really nice family coaster. The scenery could use some work but other than that this is a winner.
They might’ve put some hyper seed down so it grows into nice green grass in a few years
It will
Grow in.
I went to Dollywood but didn't get on big bear now I regret my decision it looks EXTREMELY fun!!
My 4 year Olds first real roller coaster today. He loved it. Went twice
Glad I went on that Rollercoaster just this once last week with my Dad, and boy was this a wild rollercoaster of a ride! (plus I did the Goofy Holler about 5 times!)
Of the three POV yours is the best, I like the ride sounds. The others talked through the ride.
That looks supee fun. Long and smooth!
I used to rent a cabin nearby and all day long all you could hear was screams coming from this place.
Rode this so many times it’s so good😂😂 i love bigbear mountain in dolly wood teneseee!
Rode this in November and LOVED IT!
Omg !!
Are we there yet, lol..
That was the longest roller coasters I've seen yet.
Love this coaster!!!!!
We rode this the other day 8 times!! One of my favorites!
I thought it wouldn’t take my stomach but it did just a little bit but it’s still a super fun ride.
this looks phenomenal
Is it just me or they could have easily added a screen or some sort of projection of a bear in that final tunnel?
This at night was so fun
We Need more coasters like this
I remember riding this last year, waited for about 1 hour 30 minutes but is worth it
Thank you for doing this video. I will be there with my family driving from Florida. Nice addition, considering lightning rod will probably be temporarily closed when we go. 😂😂😂
The Wild Eagle is so fun! But Big Bear is my fav, it’s just so.. like just fun! If you know what I mean
I normally do fine on roller coasters however I blacked out on the very last big turn. A lot of G’s too!!!
So glad they kept the music from the animated POV
whats the song name?
I hope they do some landscaping around this ride
Dollywood and trees don’t mix lol
Lightning rod was closed for two months because a tree fell on the track.
I rode this the other day, it’s fine the way it is. You have on board audio and it actually goes VERY fast.
Landscaping isn’t a big deal lol they’ve already planted trees on the ridge behind the coaster
@@mattcollins3591 bro is the Dollywood defender
@@jasonbaylor9865 it doesn’t need defending lol 😂
It didn’t get best theme park in the US for 3 years in a row for no reason
@@jasonbaylor9865 if you were there last spring there’s no way you saw the coaster. It wasn’t even announced until last august
They did plant some trees but they don’t grow at lightning speed
I wish more family coaster were like this!
Finally got to go on this last week and goddamn the video doesn't do it justice on how INTENSE this ride actually is! Till we meet again one day, Dollywood!
for real!
Looks so good!
Love the design on the new Vekoma Track. It's a U or horseshoe shape. They should use this new track on most of thier coasters. Thier family suspended coasters, launch coasters, looping coasters, and someday for their Hyper Coaster Models
Rode this yesterday. It has 3 electromagnetic launches to keep up the speed. My advice is try to relax body and lean into the curves. If you stiffen up and try to resist..you'll feel sore later...lol
Nothing too crazy, but it's an interesting design and it really utilizes the terrain well...its also a nice ride length.
i remember last year when i went and i saw all the track laying around and they had a big wall up
I'm going here in two days I'm so excited
This ride will be awesome when the trees grow in around it
Big bear mountain is one of my favorite rides at DollyWood
those bear roars always catch me off guard o-o
Wonderful family coaster...It was fun for my 10 year old thrill-seeking daughter, and just at the brink of too intense for my 6 year old daughter, but she wanted to ride again.
Rode this today and it is amazing!
I’m in line for it right now. Can’t wait!!!
I actually went on it! It’s so fun!
I’ll be going here for the first time soon in April with my mom and my 3rd cousin his wife so this should be interesting I’m not a fan of roller coasters it depends how fast though and not upside down ones but this looks good to me so this one is a maybe ❤😁
I’m supposed to be going to Dollywood tomorrow and I’m planning to ride it! It looks so fun, I can’t wait😁
I love this ride
It needs a little bit more theming and scenery to match the story, but it looks pretty cool overall!
The ride is very similar to fire chaser but with the intensity increased
I’m going tomorrow! I’m so excited!
This ride is awesome.
I went here! So fun to ride! Perfect
Ok, this is cool! I'm not a huge coaster fanatic. But this is cool.
I rode this I loved it was very smooth and just fun overall
Looks great!
Looks like a great ride.
I rode it and it was fun I’m going to Dollywood aging next year and it’s fun have you rode it I’m excited
One of my favs
All those bear puns, they're quite hard to ... bear.
Just been on it. Love it!!
Definitely odd the only scenery feature is the water/stone area you ride through in the beginning and the rest is... open dirt fields. The ride itself is fine but there's basically nothing supporting the theme. Bear statues that make noise as you ride by (i.e. think Velocicoaster) would have made the most sense to me. Definitely lacking in scenery.
This looks like a pretty solid coaster. Do you get to see the Bear or just hear the roars?
We had a great time at the park. Rode many coasters thanks to incredibly short lines. On most rides, you walked right up to the loading area.
While Mystery Mine was a group favorite, I think Big Bear was mine. The hard launches, the constant speed, and the long ride duration all add up to make this one of my all-time favorites.
One small nitpick, the rest of the park is beautifully landscaped but, the area around the Big Bear track was conspicuously barren. Also, the audio cues on the ride make it seem like something is missing. Like some animatronic bears or something. Maybe this all indicates that they're still constructing the area around the ride. I hope that's the case. Because this ride deserves to be one of their showpieces. 🎢
This was my 100th coaster credit
Insane!❤
Dolly world is on my bucket list and this ride looks great BUT the lack of themeing ( all that dirt and empty space) is disappointing. Hopefully plants will grow in.
Helixes look like they might actually pull some Gs
Can’t wait to ride this soon.
This is so fun bro
Going to Dollywood and I will ride this
The only bad part about this is the way they completely removed all of the trees from the hillside :( it would be so much better riding through the forest :(
Except the tress were probably difficult to work around considering most of the coaster is already on a hillside. Getting trucks and cranes up there with lots of trees around was probably too difficult to deal with. Easier to remove them and plant new ones that won't be an obstruction to the ride.
@@kumbabgt5067that’s exactly what they did. The tress are already growing
This looks like a coaster you would build on rollercoaster tycoon
