    For cage free farms in the US and Europe, people just use a nipple system in the deep litter, so the water is not an issue at all. It's the same for broilers, layers, turkeys, etc. You just have to show some of them how to use the nipple the first time, and the rest learn from watching... There's no need for battery cages if you set up the same type nipple system and just adapt it for deep litter. It's fully automated, and you just mix in medications and vitamins as needed.

    I just found your channel and I think what you’re doing is great. What you’re doing is admirable, you’re leading the way to Ghana modernizing it’s farming practices. Which means YOU will be one of the voices setting standards others will emulate. You’re correct not to put animal welfare above a human being. Commercial farming has ruined the health of Americans and a significant portion of our farmland. This is why people are returning to smaller scale farming and why the organic movement here is very popular. Even our biggest farm conglomerates are heavily researching how to roll back some of their practices but still produce at a high volume. Ghana needs modernization but not at the expense of your environment and health. So I think there’s need to be a balance. Many comments are saying to use a nipple system and I agree. But I understand why you did it this way. The west is trying to figure out how to undo the harm of commercial farming and how to return to more conscious ways of doing things. My final thought is that I think a significant number of people will remain in agriculture in Ghana. The industrial revolution Ghana is waiting on won’t happen, technology has simply reduced the number of people needed to manufacture.

    So you're seeking a better way to provide water and feeding your chickens. You ever thought about providing water hoses long enough go inside the pens. Invest in sprayers. They are attached to the water hose. They provide pressure which makes it easy to clean the floors. You should also invest in something we call wagons or carts. They can be used for transporting eggs and water or whatever.
    If you can't do the water hoses, try transporting water in pails with lids on them on the carts. A cart will save a person's back and body. Carrying 2 5 gallon buckets at one time is too much.💖

      mechanized farming is here. jump on board or get left behind. I run a block factory. I have 5 guys that produce 1500 blocks manually in 10 hours. Keep in mind each guy has a helper. When I switched to machine making blocks I can produce 5000 blocks in 8 hours with the same 5 guys without their helpers. Go figure.

    You can have an electronic water supply. Very simple and cheap. Use a timer relay to periodically control a central valve. You will need a cheap timer relay, electronic valve switch, water storage at higher elevation and tubes. That’s it. DM for direction.

    A few people have made a few interesting points and asked some pertinent questions which I believe are worth considering to help in your decision making. They are listed as follows:
    ● Why not implement the same nipple system in the "free range" cage; is it available in Ghana and or feasible
    ● Are the employees going to remain employed in other areas of the farm when you transfer to a 100% battery cage system
    ● There is a water faucet located near the door of the cage, why not use a hose and make the trip with the bucket shorter or use a hose that is run inside of the cage to fill the buckets
    ◇ My opinion; I agree that you have to prioritize the quality of life of humans over chickens 🐔.
    For the sake of controversy and debate only; do the persons concerned about the "inhumane" treatment of the birds vegans or do they consume eggs and eat chicken?
    Thanks for sharing. Hopefully a compromise can be attained that will keep your best business practices intact, maintain sustainable profit margins, ensure the best possible treatment of the birds and most importantly, your employees can remain employed and able to function in a way that enhances their quality of life in a holistic way.

    • @kwamebimpong5392
      @kwamebimpong5392 3 года назад

      If the quality of human life is indeed the true priority then he would produce free range and organic chicken ha. But there is a positive relationship between the freeranging and nutrient content of the birds/eggs. In fact corn fed battery chickens have harmful levels of omega 6 which in turn cause many of the ailments people suffer from today including arthritis and high blood pressure. These are caused by inflammation which is increased by the omega 6 levels in todays diet. The are many huge scale free range farmers that dont vaccinate or use antibiotic on birds because they are generally healthier and not living in their own shit. So yeah let's not pretend that its anything but greed.

    • @ashuhabesha2010
      @ashuhabesha2010 3 года назад

      I thought the same thing. It is poor management to be washing the drinkers inside the barn with water spilling on the litter. This will cause all sorts of diseases. At our small farm, we take out all the drinkers, wash them thoroughly, fill them up at a filling station and place them back in the barn. It may sound laboursome, but it isn't actually that hard (but again, i only have 1100 birds and it might be a bit more work for more birds).
