To those who are wondering, what Kanata did was just a mere 5-10% of what usually sound engineers would do when they receive a raw audio recording from an individual who are not professionally trained in singing 😂
I like to think that sound engineers are dying laughing when they hear the raw recording for the first time 😂

lmao, a real professional audio engineer wouldn’t even work with this. An audio engineer’s job is to polish, refine and enhance the already good recording/performance, so they’d just have the singer keep on redoing until they get a satisfactory take. But considering it was just a one-take thing from someone who isn’t really a singer it sounds just as you’d expect lol.
An audio engineer can’t shine a pebble into a diamond though. so what Kanata did here has nothing to do with engineering, but really just playing around with pitch correction which isn’t “usual” in the process at all. if they wanted that super robotic perfect pitch sound tho they woulda just had them sing with autotune in the first place.

well i mean, if you know anything about audio engineering then the you know the answer to that already just by reading it lol. but actually im a music producer who regularly works closely with professional audio engineers in professional music studios. I, and most producers can engineer themselves as well but it’s a bit different than producing which is my main focus.

I tuned in around where she only had 5 minutes left. She was really struggling to finish every detail with just those 5 minutes and it seemed pretty humorous/intense. Kind of surprised that wasn't in the clip.

The best part was when she got emotional because of Choco and cried amidst the song, I hope you can clip it. She's so cute and talented.

As a drummer who does his own mixes, I never thought I'd see a Hololive member using melodyne or streaming a DAW but it's so cool. I remember when I took a clip of Fauna saying wah and turned it into a jazz standard melody (because she likes bossa nova) it took a while. I can't imagine doing it for an entire song on stream. Respect to Kanata for doing this. Audio editing can be a grind.

Well, this personally explains to me why Kanata was assisting Senchou in Minecraft to do “Ahoy!”.

The problem with auto-tune is you can HEAR it's been used and that makes you think the singer AND producer/sound editor are bad. I bet without the sort of "background auto-tune" sound, this would sound a lot better with basically just the... pitch correction? Sorry, I'm not really a music guy, so I'm not even sure if I used the right term there lol. But I definitely think the main problem I had was basically that background noise that most auto-tuned songs have. Same as the auto-tune "filter" or whatever many of these vTubers use on their soundboards or whatever.
