Really interesting approach for the master texture, blending the real life images with a painterly textured background for low frequency details. A bunch of great tips overall, thanks for sharing!
A very cool trick that i found is to use JSplacement textures as masks for different random small images/textures of metal or machines. and since JSplacement gives you some unique sci-fi sprites by default the Master texture will look 10 times better.
Thank you so much for the tutorial man, really learned a lot! Pls also do a vid about your character design workflow, your characters on artstation are really awesome!!
yo i just stumbled upon your vid, i just subscribed, this are rare to see artist are actually showing some nice workflow on texturing city, thanks lodz!
You are so good! I’m glad I found your channel. Did you mind if I ask about textures? Are they all duplicates and just adjust the color ramp to have different roughness?
The only issue I have with this is that these assets are not meant to be seen up close. I was surprised when I saw that they were all 2D textures (I hadn't watched the videos). Also, the textures are warped near the vertices. I understand why, but again, I'm sad I cannot use them for close-up shots.
can someone help to explain the part of how to mirror the texture only without mirror a duplicate object? I used mirror modifier but a duplicated object was created.

Hi, well I duplicate the material and yes, adjust roughness with the color ramp and values with hue saturation node on the diffuse.
