In this week's Insider Tour, we tour a 5-room HDB unit located at Ang Mo Kio Court, a recently-MOP HDB that was launched back in the May 2016 BTO exercise.
The development TOP-ed in 2020 and houses 590 units with a mix of 2, 4, 5, and 3-Gen flats.
One of the biggest highlights of the new HDB is that it’s within 1km of the popular school, CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School, making it an attractive proposition for families with kids.
Another notable highlight is that is within what some would consider walking distance to Mayflower MRT (less than a 10-minute walk if you cut through blocks 229 - 232).
Amenities-wise, you’ll find AMK Hub, Thomson Plaza, Bishan North Shopping Mall, and Djitsun Mall less than 8-minute drive away, as well as the Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park which is approximately 8-minute walk away from the unit itself.
The unit that we’re touring today is a 1,216 sqft 5-room unit that the owners purchased under the BTO exercise.
Special thanks to the homeowners for allowing us to tour their beautiful home!

So many creative designers!
Yes they are!
Absolutely awesome design! Kudos to the ID!
Thank you so much for watching!
@@StackedHomes where did the owner get the sofa from? do you have the name? Thanks
While the ID made a statement w the wash basin outside the bathroom, I do wish they installed a small one inside as well. Feels abit icky to be touching the door knobs w unwashed hands after bathroom business.
Amazing ❤❤❤❤❤.
Glad you think so! Thank you for watching. 🤩
Hey Stacked, kinda unrelated to this vid but any idea what video you guys did where they had custom glass windows with inbuilt blinds inside the glass with a slider to open and close it?
Love the vibe of this home! 😍😍 Does the design idea come from homeowner or ID?
Thank you, Gail!
I think not many can say that the design isn’t pleasant looking. My fav room is the kitchen. But … this is a channel on homes … home decor and design. There will be discussion on design styles etc etc. Many are just saying that this style is not MCM (as claimed). No biggie really … just saying nia. But… if the designer was supposed to design/build a space in the style of MCM … they would have missed the brief. That can be quite a big deal for the client.
Just my 2 cents.
Wow really nice! Who cares whether mcm or not!
Thank you, Joseph!
Nothing in this house is mid modern century other than possibly the dining table.
We're willing to bet that it'll be hard to drag yourselves out of the comfy living room couch! 😄
😆
Ppl really label MCM loosely these days. 😞
i saw this house before and was looking for that bedside table, any idea where to get that?
need more effort for the study desk setup to match the aesthetic with the rest of the house!
anyway here is the more detailed tour of the house - ruclips.net/video/29EhwLzXXfw/видео.html
Price?
How much is this going for?
sht this is nicer than a lot of condos
Thanks for watching!
The tiles in the common bath looks a bittttt untidy😅😅 my ocd is acting up
Have mixed feelings, the living room and kitchen ,sitting area I like but the rest of the house seems confusing and diving rooms with glass wall is that a thing in Singapore?
It's to allow sunlight in and make the space feel bigger 🙌
Is this on sale ?
Hi, could I know where this sofa is from please thank you

Nicely done up, how much is the renovation cost for a project like this?
Saw what looks like the same project on an ID's YT channel & it was estimated to cost $170k
Thanks for watching!
Is it a standard now for top floor to have higher ceiling?
Not entirely true and it still varies from project to project.
It is still not a standard for HDB as some project may be smaller or larger or higher ceiling as compare to various district.
Usually top floor have higher ceilings in HDB
the house dont have a single fan. everyday on aircon
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
i really would like to know the brand of the '4 seater sofa' ....... please....

Who is the ID?
this is kinda cute, but it's not mid-century modern....
I agree. This is not mid century modern. However I see this style being called mid century modern on the local design scene. What I see is actually sorta contemporary scandi and boho mixed with local style built-in cabinetry. There are lots of overlaps in Scandi and mid century modern furniture … I have read. The main difference between the two design styles is in it’s surroundings…esp colour . Then there’s a big difference between American MCM and Scandinavian MCM. I find American MCM so stylish. Google images of the two versions … you’ll see what I mean.
No one in sg has nailed it yet … both MCM and Scandi. Our Scandi has always too much boho mixed in…imho…on RUclips land that is.
It does have midcentury modern elements along with some others.
there are some elements sprinkled here and there, but not enough to classify it as MCM overall or even 50% MCM. Its a pity because the space has the bones and size to incorporate MCM furniture pieces like accent chairs, coffee table(s) or a good sized credenza/console table. Almost all the furniture is straight out contemporary except for the dining furniture (personally I would have gone for a Tulip dining table or something with rounded /oval shape to balance out the amount of harsh right angles/straightlines in the area). Also I would have gone for some pops of colour and chosen a different flooring choice for a MCM home - the vinyl looks way too stark/harsh if you dont use rugs.
@@andyandy2684 Hahaha! "Local style built-cabinetry" thats true... unfortunately in 75% of the cases in general, I feel that carpentry work is too generic. The other trend /thing i keep seeing in SG homes which i dislike is excessive use of glass doors or partitions (excluding those in bathrooms/showers of course) . First i think it looks a bit clinical/too office like if not done correctly. Second, its a lot higher maintenance than most people realise and will attract grime and stains, fingerprints etc.
nice, but a bit too bland. typical of scandi rather than mid century modern.
She said "On this side you'll find the bomb shelter" as if I was expecting to find a bomb shelter in someone's home. Is that normal in Singapore?
Yes. It is almost legally required for residential apartments to have a bomb shelter.
Agree with Yong, bomb shelters are a requirement.
May I know the ID firm which designed this house?
19eightythree 😃
Vibe is nice but there is still a lot of under utilized space in the home and there is almost no space to hang their laundry as they remove the HDB ceiling laundry rack and the service yard.
Why do you need someplace to hang when you have a dryer
Nice contemporary house but definitely not Mid century modern style
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Lmao this is completely not mid-century modern.
Excuse me …..bomb shelter…?
Yes
wait wait wait. BOMB SHELTER ? concealed inside apartment not a landed house? lol
Just another typical Singapore style cookie cutter home. If you google for local home interior, it isn’t hard to notice that almost 99.9% look identical.
