They can't as they reshot the ending so this scene dosnt work. Don't think they shot the correct bridge scene after rescuing Picard else seem odd he told about the top level review twice.
It would have been quite spectacular to see the Jem'Hadar and their ships on the big screen, and to see Picard and the Enterprise going up against them. However.... it would have meant nothing to casual viewers who had never seen an episode of Star Trek (Deep Space Nine or any other series) and fans of Deep Space Nine would likely have been disappointed by the lack of crossovers from that show, other than Worf though he was technically TNG cast. The movies had to walk a fine line between universal appeal and continuity; "Insurrection" was no exception and it managed to keep to that line, although the Son'a were ultimately a lukewarm enemy, posing no real threat to Picard's people.
@@MS-19Then it would have proven a golden opportunity to introduce people to The Dominion. Wouldn’t require much more than some obvious exposition to give the audience a quick rundown as to what The Dominion are all about. Oh well. We got space hippies and “On this episode of botched” instead.
@@MDE_never_dies Perhaps, but there would have been little chance to follow through on the complex nature of the Dominion, its social structures, why it exists, what its long-term goals are. All of that was accomplished (if somewhat perfunctorily and with a gaping plot hole or two) for the Son'a in a few scenes; it took 5 seasons of DS9 to do it for the Dominion...
@@MS-19 I don't think you're giving the concept a fair go, although I do understand your concerns. Thing is, if they could "flesh out" (pun intended) these Son'a in only a few scenes as you say, then I daresay they could have added a few bits of deep lore to The Founders in a few scenes of a Dominion War film too. Tbf on DS9 it was meant to be a slow burn, they had to make The Dominion last 5 seasons, and not every episode of those 5 seasons were Dominion-Centric Episodes. I think they could have done quite abit in only 2 hours. I mean look at First Contact, not every viewer may have seen "Best of Both Worlds", but they were able to introduce The Borg, establish their entire reasons for being, their goals, and even expand on them.
"Mr. Worf, don't you know that I'm the A-list, hero of this movie? It doesn't matter if you're 100x better at hand to hand combat and tactical situations. I'm Patrick Stewart!" While I love the Jean-luc Picard character, the TNG movies would have been better with more participation from the other characters.
To be fair, Riker & Data also had their moments to shine in all 4 films(given that Jonathan was directing 2 out of 4 of them), but I feel that the rest, especially Bev Crusher & Deanna Troi, were clearly underwritten.
A captains role is supposed to be to the ship and should mostly be on the bridge, something they got right for the most part with TNG for Picard whereas for Kirk they got it wrong because he got too involved with too many away missions, same for Picard in the movies, it would be like the captain of a warship going into the thick of things, it just doesn't happen.
Paul Aiello it’s a bit forgivable given the events of Generations - Kirk told him basically to live a little and never let them take your command away. FC had him on the ship for the most part.
The whole ending makes so much more sense. No wonder Picard knew how the thing worked!
Why do they remove important details like that.
I know it made no sense that Picard knew exactly what to do!

"Top level review my ass!" Did not expect that from Picard. Lol
B Mathews
Dramatic music only plays when he says that. Captain's orders.

Top level review means c over up
I'm just saying, it would have been another First Contact scene...
Should have kept it in the movie!
This is brilliant. The gentle way Picard takes the phaser from Worf who was so instantly ready to sacrifice himself
Even in deleted scenes Worf gets denied lol
Why wasn't this included in the movie? It would have been another First Contact Picard moment.
This is personal between picard and ruafo ..
I want all this stuff back in the movie. They need to listen to the writers more.
They can't as they reshot the ending so this scene dosnt work. Don't think they shot the correct bridge scene after rescuing Picard else seem odd he told about the top level review twice.
I wish they kept this scene or at least the part where Picard said "Top Level Review my ass."
It's not star treky to use bad language.
Star trek Picard never happened. It never happened!!
OMFG why was this not in the movie!!!!!!
Mr. Worf, you are denied. Again.
I can see why deleted that scene the captain playing the hero.
Action picard is bad ass
Insurrection should have been about the Enterprise's involvement in the "Dominion War."

If this was an episode, it would have remained in as well as the original ending.

Kind of hard to communicate without a comm badge, ain't it?
0:22 Now how did this get a PG rating?
I hated that the movies turned Picard into an action hero.
I think it suits him, he can be both thoughtful and also action hero...just my view
But that wasn't the Picard from the TV show, He didn't need to be an action hero

Its what Patrick Stewart wanted, same reason for the dune buggy in nemesis and.... the awful star trek: picard series
Picard really is the ultimate SJW here...how sad
