Would not be surprised if Kerber could defend her title at Wimbledon. Such a great form after a horror clay court swing. Impressive indeed.
Highly doubt
@@johnbills3056 Not that impressive. Stosur had already played one match today.
It wasn't very convincing today but she can definitely do it.
Women can't defend a Grand Slam title. Not since Serena.
Stosur would be happy with the way she played, especially heading into Wimbledon because she didn’t play badly!
Kerber looking good. VERY good.
With that thumbnail, I couldn't even tell it was an official WTA highlights video, made it look like a prediction website
Sam played very well in this match, it was just that Kerber was too tenacious and ran everything down. Both incredible players to watch, Kerber for her unorthodoxy and determination, and Sam for her classic style, power shots and hot muscles 💪
I still LOVE Stosur's game & playing style...
Jim Stark at least he/she isn’t a glory hunter. You can still love a players playing style/game without them winning much
Jim Stark so you think non top players are undeserving of any fans?
@@djhero8195 ikr . This guy must be a serena glory hunter who looks down upon other fans. I am an ostapenko fan and stucj by her thru this horror run over the last year and kudos to the og commenter for sticking with stosur.
With all that muscles, I feel like Stosur strokes are not so powerful or am I mistaken?
She muscles the ball too much. So, you see what looks like a lot of arm movement, good spin, but lackluster pace. If she would use her hips and legs more while hitting thru the ball more as well. You can see on numerous points, Stosur's aggressive shots are often returned by Kerber. Meanwhile, Kerber's shots have more shape to them, look more fluid, looks like less effort is put forth for the pace she receives, and are more accurate. I muscle the ball. Occasionally, I'll hit a really good shot that just feels right. I find it's always a shot where I was more relaxed and mixed the right amount of pace and spin vs muscle. Muscle is far down the list in comparison to technique.
she is 35 keep in mind. But she is more toned than having an overwhelming amount of muscle (really just her arms and shoulders look a bit more muscular). She is only 150lbs at 5'9. Muscles arent really the best indicator of big shots. Federer doesnt have as much muscle up top and yet he cant dominate and make some crushing shots. It is more on whose technique is on point in the match and strategy too.
f you mess up and don't get good depth or something then your opponent will punish and make your next shot harder so sometimes and unless you are nadal or djokovic, it can very hard to get back into rallies and it doesn't matter how much muscle you have. Djokovic was so skinny at a point that people were wondering if he is malnourished. He is number 1 tho and he is skinny, but great technique and great depth among other things.
Tennis is more of a marathon sport though so keeping on a lot of muscle can be hard/impossible. If it was more of a UFC setup where u have fights maybe one every couple months or a year, then you could train and pack up a ton muscle and then use it in a match before it gets depleted. Not ideal though since tournaments are happening literally every week or two.
There are always exceptions but most tennis players are skinny and muscles aren't really a leading indicator of how good they can be. Of course you need some so you don't get injured, but I think you can see what im getting at.
@@JohnDoe-er1zp Thanks for explaining.
@@IamnotJohnFord Thanks for explaining. 👍
Stosur is now 35, 8 years removed from major victory in US Open. Still plays well, but the competition seems to be too much for her to advance very far these days.
Terrible camera angle :(
Stosur sometimes forget kerber is a lefty
Where is everyone getting this Stosur is ranked in the near 3000s info?! She's ranked 132
I like Stosur game
I'm scared of Ms. Stosur, those arms reminding me of Rafa's
That "is" Rafa 😳
@@ElleBrOw And this "is" a stupid comment. It's so sad that people go on the internet to pick on people's bodies. She's an athlete and looks like one. I'm sure this comes out of a place of insecurity, so next time someone calls you ugly or fat remember that you've done that to someone else. Maybe then you'll stop.
@@davidcosta5099 I completely agree with most of what you are saying...but to claim that she just 'looks like an athlete' is a bit disingenuous. She has far more muscle mass than.virtually all women on tour. But I agree name calling, rudeness etc is wrong.
@@davidcosta5099 I hope people feel that same way about Serena Williams. She's an athlete to and looks like one...
@@davidcosta5099 Name calling huh? Thats juvenile to scroll replies seeking a keyboard fight especially since u passed by the original comment & made absolutely NO memtion on Rafa. GTFOH 🖕
you can hear the seagulls
Stosur's current ranking is 2,990 in the world according to Wikipedia, but that does not make sense. She is the reigning Aussie Open doubles champ and she's healthy and playing well. Why so low in the ranking?
She's had a rough couple of years but her level here was good. It literally came down to a couple of points in each set.
Hope Stosur is improving
Have a nice day Angelique Kerber
Congrulation Sam by 35 yahre
Kerber is lefthanded
I don’t see any comments accusing Stosur of being on steroids. I guess that kind of hate is reserved for black women only.
It's not cool try to bring one down just to defend someone else. Simmer down
Pedro Cardoso I only stated facts. I never uttered any negative towards Stosur. Black women will always endure racism and hatred and they expect us to never retaliate.
Nice Kerber! Knocked out MAN STOSUR in straight sets
Kerber played a chick with a dk. Australians what would you expect.
Somebody feels threatened and less of a man, by a woman having bigger muscles and more physical strength than then.
Kerber is not a good player she is perseverent
