- Today I’ll be giving my very noob review of the Princeton Aqua Elite synthetic kolinsky watercolor brushes. I got these several months ago and I’m only now getting around to testing them!

I love my Aqua Elites. I just got 7 new ones yesterday including the set you reviewed.
Thanks for the review - I really like them too, especially the quill. FYI these brushes are marketed as synthetic Kolinsky Sable, which is an Asian weasel (Mustela sibirica) - not a rabbit. They feel good in the hand, the bristles load up nicely and the price is good. And no mammals were harmed!
They are fantastic brushes, I have almost all of them... they paint smooth as butter. I just started watching your videos, I love your work. I'm 63 and been playing with art since I could hold a pencil in my hand and im just now getting serious about watercolor...lol. keep making these videos and I'll keep watching.
I love the quill its my new go to
Kolinsky is from a sable, not rabbit.
Would you recommend this or heritage (1 wash 3 round tips) for beginners? I’m not an artist but I always loved looking at paintings especially watercolour/gouache paintings. I’ve finally decided to give it a try so I’m planning to get himi gouache ☺️ The heritage selection looks good to me but I mostly see people loving the Neptune or AE series
I think the sable (the aqua elite) are going to be a little more stiff which is what I prefer for my smaller rounded tips like size 6. The softer bristles are usually better for the flat wash brushes.
Oh. But I just realized you said you're doing gouache and not watercolor so maybe my advice does not apply....
I love these brushes. I just got some from a friend.
Just watch out with this line of brush the rounds lose there tips quite quickly and become fluffy it's really annoying
